Strength:

I haven't had any of the A/C issues that seem to be prevalent

Weakness:

isn't it obvious?

Initially we liked the minivan. That is, until my husband pulled the slider door handle off, no effort, just came off in his hand. Had to take it three times to the dealer to order, then paint, then install part. On the last visit, the technician broke the middle seat fastener. I had to make another trip to get a replacement seat. I have had some issues with airbag light being on, and replacement seatbelt sensors. I, too, have the can't fill the gas tank problem. It didn't pass NJ inspection, and I had to replace the gas cap. I have had the alternator replaced, two days and quite a hassle, too. The wheel bearings in both front tires have shattered, costing upward of $500 to replace, plus alignment and balancing of the tires.

DO NOT BUY A KIA SEDONA FROM ANYWHERE!!
I purchased one and have been sorry ever since. It has had to be towed twice in 4 years. Had the same problem fixed 3 times. Kia Consumer Affairs won't stand behind their vehicles. Now it is broken down again. Never had this problem with a used vehicle of any other make.

Strength:

I have the ex model w/ leather. I love my sunroof and that's about it.

Weakness:

EVERYTHING!!!

Where to start. I puchased my van new. A day after driving it with my twin 10 month old girls, the radio started to smoke and fill the van. I thought it was going to catch on fire. I made Kia replace my one day old van with a brand new one. I thought maybe it was just a lemon. Well, I have had the alternator go bad, which my van was in the shop for more than 2 weeks. Once I picked my van back up and was heading with my girls onto a major highway. The van completely died and I had no control. Thank God we had not made it onto the highway. I call the dealer screaming and they had to bring me a rental and pick-up the van. More than a week later I find out the should have replaced the battery too. For the past year the check engine light comes on and off all the time and there is a serious pressure noise coming from the gas tank when the van is running. I have had it back at the dealer several times and they take weeks to try and fix it. Last time I dropped it off, they had my van for 3 weeks and when I picked up my van it was not even 20 minutes later the noise in the gas tank and the check engine light were back home. I will never by another Kia. There service is the worst. The dealer said they can not find any mechanics to work on Kia vehicles. Can anyone help me with where I should go next. I am serious about contacting our local news and writing a letter to Kia. I am mostly worried about the safety of my children.

Strength:

Cruises nicely at highway speeds rides and the ride is nice.

Weakness:

Serious braking problem in wet weather at less than 5 miles per our. Front brakes will "Hum" pulling into parking spots (Happened twice)and the Anti-lock will kick in and then malfunction causing the brakes to release and the van to roll. Came very close to having an accident both times. KIA dealer cannot reproduce the problem so therefore it doesn't exist. A/C compressor went and hand to be replaced. Now at four years it isn't blowing cold air as well as it had previously - May need refrigerant. Drivers side front wheel bearing went bad at around 26k miles and was replaced (Took a month for the part to arrive). Now at 55k miles it is going bad again. Fuel gauge will not register a full tank (only goes up to 3/4 full). Wiper blade arms extremely sensitive to any type of ice / snow buildup. Paint on passenger side mirror and door went bad (KIA repainted the door). Storage compartment on top of dashboard broke (KIA Replaced). Engine and Transmission working well to date. MPG is absolutely unacceptable. 12 City & just shy of 17 on highway. Alomst $500 in gas to go from NJ - Orlando, FL Round trip! Door handle on Sliding door needed to be repainted as well (Paint Bubbling). Parking brake assembly (under vehicle) had to be replaced becuase it was only grabbing one tire. Now I have to take it back again because the rear brakes now grab. Seems to be losing anti-freeze somewhere - I need to add to it a couple of times a year.

Overall I would rate as a DO NOT BUY. We bought the Van in July 2002 and we were initially pleased with it. Began having problems in a relatively short amount of time. This model has numerous mechanical issues that so far have been covered under warranty we have 55k miles on it and have had it a little over four years nows.

PRICE: I bought mine in December and saved about 3 Grand.
LOOKS: Its a pretty sharp minivan
Safety: One of the safer minivans on the road

Weakness:

Gas Milage is below par
The acceleration is not great, I think it is because it is so heavy.

I never write reviewes on products, but after reading the negative reviews written prior to mine I had to chime in. The reason being I dont want a person in the market for a minivan to dismiss the sedona out of hand.
I like mine, it's not fancy but it got me from NY to Florida and back comfortably.

Atractive roomy vehicle, Supposed to be safe but never advertise it's quality. My family has almost been ran over on 2 occassions because vehicle is in drive but will not move when accelerator is depressed. Engine redlines like engine in neutral, but is in drive.

Weakness:

Vehicle has been in shop over a dozen times, everytime one thing gets fixed something else breaks

We recently purchased a 2006 Kia Sedonna Minivan. It has to be the junkiest vehicle ever made. It is only 5 months old and is falling apart. It has A/C problems, shimmies, transmission shifts into neutral for no reason, drivers seat is loose, dash pad blistered, turn signals do not turn off when steering wheel is turned opposite direction. Dealer cannot fix problems because computer does not code up. Has anybody else had any of these problems? Maybe someone out there with these problems has had the dealer find out what is wrong with the van, maybe we can all pull together and get these things recalled. When you gas your van to merge into traffic on a busy Interstate and it does not move and you have to swerve off the road to avoid an acccident that is a dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weakness:

see above...

Purchased because new to market (in Canada) and hoping they'd produce excellent product. Finally traded in when brakes failed...I could go front to back on this thing and find problems
- headlights continue to burn out
- brakes gone at 120,000
- hood latch sticking
- check engine light unable to turn off (emissions problems)
- airbag light on due to seatbelt connection
- pipe to rear heater rusted out (only four years of use???)
- heat control not working (loose connection)
- alternator belt slipping off repeatedly
- shocks replaced at 50,000 - went again and told it was wonky tires (tireshop just about peed themselves when they heard that)
- rear wiper motor broke
- rear door sticking
To finish it off with really poor mileage.

drivers compartment not designed for men over 6ft tall. Too noises. Gas milage is horrible. Local dealers don't offer loaner cars while servicing

Purchased Dec 2002 with less than 50 miles. Liked at first. Had MANY probs with service department from the start switched dealerships slightly better. Pasenger side back door would stick while open (hinges replaced still hard to close), horn won't work when weather is damp dealer unable pin point problem. Now alternator is shot was told they had probs w/alternator so they redesigned it but it is not covered under warranty nor is it a recall. Call Kia headquarters they know nonthing about the probs w/ alternator. Was paying dealership to change oil every 3000 miles( had proof of service order). Late one night in route to home oil light came on. Had it towed to local shop, oil filter was so heavy from them not changing that it set off sensors. Dealer tried to convince me that I need a new engine.
