Strength:
Ride, room, power doors and hatch, sunroof, quiet
Weakness:
None yet Bought a 2003 T&C LXI after comparing it to the Honda and Toyota. Great ride, features and very refined. I actually enjoy driving a minivan for the first time in my life. I just hope the reliability is good. Similar Products Used: 1996 Grand Caravan |

Strength:
Roomy, luxurious very comfortable for a family of 4 and LOTS of cargo room.
Weakness:
Poor gas mileage and Left Strut tower cracked and rusted. Found a problem hoping others found in theirs so we can nag chrystler to create a recall. Open your hood and look at the left strut tower and see if it is cracked and rusted. Mechanic says it's a factory defect not because of poor driving conditions. Saw a few other internet complaints on the same problem but won't go noticed unless you look for it. I found it by accident when my husband was checking the oil. Right side tower looks fine it is just the left. Originally thought strut was shot but mechanic said it is perfect therfore the cracked tower is causing my problem. So please go under your hood and check the tower if this cracks further causing the strut to pop througl you are looking at severe safety problem. We need Chrystler to make a recall on this problem there is no way to repair it unless you pay for an entire new front end! Similar Products Used: 1994 Ford Taurus |

Strength:
Comfortable for three kids, three carseats/boosters, adult passengers and dog. Reliable in all weather (snow, ice, & heat). Good family vehicle despite age; we are not trading it in. I like the sliding rear seat - up for small children and monthly grocery trips, easy to slide back for adults.
Weakness:
Thank goodness for the extended warranty! Transmission at 70 K miles, water pump under warranty and AC compressor not under warranty $600. Rear wiper and part of the center console (HVAC) module went out two years ago but soda was spilled on it and probably helped fried the electronics. Rear sliding doors a problem - locks burning up and do not work well, door latch does not disengage from the outside and this is hard on my wrists (use the inside latch). I noted these were corrected in the newer models we test drove. Normal scheduled maintenance is letting us keep driving without too many slowdownsn despite age and wear. Recommend a K&N air filter to improve gas milage and reduce RPMs slightly. Find a 5 Star dealerships for repairs. It's a good van considering the way we drive. Lots of highway miles - very comfortable to drive (now approaching 130 K). Decent gas mileage for a minivan. We are now looking at a Chrysler T&C and pleased they have corrected the problems a Mom faces in the long haul. Similar Products Used: First minivan - had a Ford SUV before second child that did not ride nearly so nice. Geo Metro had great mileage but no space (we won't discuss repair bills on that one)! |

Transmission shifts are almost unnoticeable. If I didn't see the tach needle move, I wouldn't know when it shifted. Hope all continues well in light of the problems other folks have had with their vans. AWD is great in the snow and the auto leveling feature is great no matter the load.
Weakness:
Hinges in the center seat area of the split bench protrude up so that the center seat is not so comfortable. Gas mileage. HA. 18-24??? The only time this van will see 24 MPG is going down hill..with a tail wind. The average around town is more like 16 and hwy is about 19-20. I also drive a 6.6L Trans Am that gets 16 on the hwy and it weighs nearly the same, so I figured the 3.8L would get at least 22 to 24. On the fair side though it is loaded and has AWD. Everything else is pwr except the antenna? So I buy a van with every luxory, but I still have to get out and take the antenna off for the car wash. I ordered a T/C LXI AWD mainly because my wife wanted another minivan and I just wanted something I didn't have to work on. So we went out shopping and it was a toss up between the T/C or the Odessey. I have friends that have one or the other and they all love their vans. But after looking a little closer at the T/C you see they're alot more refined. Leather/heated seats are the best and being here in Germany it was a smart move. We also ordered the AWD, which also was a good choice. Drove it home from the port in a snow storm and even in 6 inches of snow this thing handles like it is on rails. The power doors and hatch are quite the bomb. The kids think it is the greatest. Us parents never have to tell them to close the door again, the power system closes and latches the door perfect everytime. The beeping on the rear hatch is a little embarrasing, but hey you get over it the first time your hands are full and you need to open up the hatch in the rain. Great interior lighting layout. Kids can have their reading lights on in the back and doesn't hinder the driver. DVD entertainment system is another plus. Radio controls on the back of the steering wheel is a great idea. Don't have to reach too far for anything. Was a little challenge for my wife to figure out at first, with the modes for the headphones, but once she got the controls down, she loves it. You can listen to the radio while the kids are watching a movie in the back with the wireless headphones. Sys comes with two sets of head phones. HMM got four seats in the back, but only two headsets. You got to go to the Chrysler dealer/Acc site to by additional headsets. Not cheap. But the quality is there so you get what you pay for. Split bench option is nice, and easy to remove. Paint and finish are great. All body panels fit perfect, and doors close with a nice thud. No rattles or squeaks. Great storage everywhere. Love the ride, stable and has good pickup. ABS has got to be the best on any vehicle I have ever driven. No pulsating peddle under hard breaking even in the snow. On the autobahn this thing cruises just fine at 55 or if you want to run 100 plus. Anything over 65 mph though gets pricey as you can watch the gas mileage plummet to around 15.5mpg at 80mph on flat ground. Wind shield wipers work fantastic. One swipe and the wind screen is clear as can be. Overall I think Chrysler is reading their customer suggestions. Good Van, would recommend to anyone so far. But we only have 3000mi and 6 weeks driving ours so far. Similar Products Used: 84 VW Vanagon, 83 Toyota Tarago |

Strength:
Roominess, utility, stability, comfort, looks, and ABS brakes are beautiful. AWD lets the car wallow right through 10" of snow -- no problem. Love this car.
Weakness:
Poor reliability--a twitchy computer, lousy brake disk design (no heat treatment, Cast iron), and the worst excuses for failures of components that mechanics can come up with --from a 5 star dealer no less!!! I bought the car in November 2001 because of the great looks, roominess, utility, and AWD availability. I liked the fact that the seats came completely out. The first problem was when the rear wiper froze to the window--cpu had to be reset. The next problem was warped front disks (15K miles)--ddealer turned disks . Next, the body computer went out -- replaced under warranty. Then, around 40K miles, the Blender motor for the driver's side AC went out. Now, at about 45K Miles, neither seat heater works, despite the fact that driver's side was used about 5 times. Dealer mechanic states that the elements must be replaced due to breakage from sitting on them!!! Similar Products Used: This is the first mini-van I have owned. Good Power. Great handling and ride. Great Features. Traction control. Versatility. Rear shelf is extremely useful.
Weakness:
- Steep depreciation in first few years. - Needs a light above the 3rd row with a manual control. - Cup holders get in the way of the CD changer. - 2nd row seats not adjustable forward/backward Given that our last 8 cars were Nissan's, Honda's Toyota's and Acura's, I was reluctant to buy a Chrysler. However, after comparing the comfort and features (heated leather seats, power sliding doors and hatch, Infinity audio, lift-up shelf behind the 3rd row, etc.) to the Toyota and Honda counterparts, we went for the T&C (though we wouldn't have without the $2,500 rebate). The van now has 22k miles and my wife loves it (and she said she would NEVER drive a minivan) and so do I. Not a single problem. The features are awesome. To us, Honda's disappearing 3rd row was a negative. With the T&C's split 3rd row, we can fold up or take out one of the seats for more luggage room and still have room for our 3 kids. You can't do that in the Honda. Also, the 3rd row can be put in the 2nd row in place of the 2 captian's chairs to provide 3 seating in the second row with ton's of space behind it. All around, a great van. |

SEAT HEATERS caught on fire, Front end problems ,SEAT BELT RECALL, FUEL RECALL I have had many problems with my van, I bought it brand new..and have had the Sterring colum replaced, speaker replaced, Seals arounds back windows leak (replaced),headlights for retaining water. 1 Main belt broke ..Lot of front end trouble..I had taken my car in many times about the front end, they kept telling me nothing was wrong with it as I got closer to my warranty running out due to mileage, thought the dealership was waiting till my warranty ran out to say it's the struts & bearing,I took it to someone else to look at..He came out and told me my struts and bearing needed to be replaced.SO I took it to another dealershp and showed them the estimate , He was happy to replaced my Struts..Today I was driving to work and I could smell smoke, I looked over and my passenger's side seat was burning through the leathera and all..SEAT HEATERS..I always thought that seat got a little hot Similar Products Used: Gram Am, Stationwagon |
