Weakness:
See above. Okay - what haven't I brought this car in for? Two days after we drove the van off of the lot, there was a leak in the rear window seal. So I returned to Chrysler to have it fixed. The dealer tried to tell me that they wouldn't give me a rental since I didn't sign up for that "special option" when I signed for the warranty. After dealing with the manager, I got my rental car. So far, I have had that problem, squealing brakes that had to be replaced, a fauly roof rack that had to be replaced, a faulty hatchback latch, the a/c stopped working (on a very hot weekend) and most concerning was a year ago when the van would inadvertently go into neutral while acceleration onto the freeway. Now I am finding that the driver side window and lock buttons aren't always working. I have had this car a bit over 2 years, and while I love the vehicle while it works, it's the most expensive vehicle I have owned, and the least reliable. Chrysler better get their act together and build a better van. They also should re-evaluate their "5 star" rating, as the service department at the dealership near me requires numerous calls to management to get descent quality service. |

Drives Nice New and the Auto DOORS were nice when they were the only ones
Weakness:
Air system smells, Leak when we run ac wets passanger front carpet, 3rd Chrysler Van 1st was a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan. That was ok so we traded it in on a 1998 Chrysler T&C LXi. That van was nice and we wanted a new one. In 2001 we purchased the Limited T&C and are not happy. The first thing my wife noticed was the seat warmers were not as warm. We have no idea what low does but high just warms you some (98 worked great). We also have a bad smell in the air system all the time. Then the carpet gets wet because of a drain tube for the air conditoner. They fixed that once however it is doing it again. Now the carpet smells too. The next issue really gets us upset. For no reason the Air Bag light goes on and then off after a bit. The dealer has never seen this so it cant be fixed??? ANYONE ELSE with that please let me know !!! I call Chrysler re other issues and they do not really care to much. FYI GM has a all out war on now and is giving bigger cash backs if you own a Chrysler and purchase a GM!!!! Looking at it now !! |

Air conditioning suspension Within the first year, my Chryler dealer has replace wha they called a strut housing because the right front strut was rattling so bad you could noit hear when driving. That was approximately $300. Then a few months ao , my air onditioning quit working and they now tell me that it will be aproximately $900 to repair this problem. I also had the air bag light5 come on while driving. The dealer fixedit once under warranty but now it is comimg on again. I will never own another Chrysler product. I was thinking about purchasing a new Dodge truck but after this I think that I will buy a Chevrolet becauise they wil back what they sell. |

It's a nice ride when the tranmission works.
Weakness:
Need I say more? DO NOT BUY THIS VAN! We were concerned about reviews we read regarding the T&C and its transmission problems. The sales person told us that those were previous years and that the 2000 would not have problems. He told us they were corrected. Well, low and behold, our 2000 T&C needs a transmission. I did everything right with the van; took it in to be serviced when recommended, always changed the oil. The first transmission issue happened a few months ago when a 'simple' gasket had a leak and needed to be replaced. The part was all of $30.00 but the labor was $1500 because the transmission had to be taken out to fix it. Now, the car can't get out of 1st gear. The tranmission is shot and it is going to cost me $2200 to fix it. I'm not taking it back to Chrysler - they are a rip off. So, the grand total for transmission problems for a 3 1/2 year old van is $3700. This problem is in addition to other, less severe issues, I had with the van. Our model is fully loaded and comes with a seat warmer. I had it into the shop about six times before they finally got it to work. I am so p/od with Chrysler. This model has had such a history with transmission problems it should be taken off the market or there should be a class action law suit filed. |

beatiful design of interior and exterior.
Weakness:
loud, rough, smaller than the 94 and 98 T & C. We've owned 2 other T&Cs, but this one by far is the worst ever. This Van is Unusually Loud when the cooling fan kicks in. Rough Ideling when in park, it has also just cut off. I took delivery with 12 miles on it, now 32k miles. It runs like an old truck. campared to my 94 and 98 T & C, this by far is the worst quality ever. After numerous trips to the service center, the diagnostics never indicated a problem. I've purchased other chrysler/Dodge at the tune of 100k, no more Chrysler for me. Similar Products Used: 94 Town & country, 98 Town & Country. |

Reliability Watch this one! At 40,000 miles the transmission had to be replaced and they still can't get it right- it sits in reverse while in the driveway when cold. A/C compressor was replaced at 45,000 miles by Chrysler on extended warranty, but condensor was gone too and they refused to fix it. Power window motor, broken strut (40,000 miles) and sway bar bushings all have been replaced-post warranty. Similar Products Used: 3rd Chrysler minivan- this one has had more problems than any of them |

Mold can grow in air conditioning system Chysler Town and Country We bought a beautiful Town and Country to drive to ball games and activities where we need some extra room. We drove it yesterday and the moldy smell from the air conditioner was over whelming. I called the dealership and they say they can fix the mold that is growing in the air conditioning system. That is is a common problem for Chrysler products and they even designed a process to correct this. In todays world where that we can't even live in our house without mold causing serious illness. Why would Chrysler design a airconditioning system that can cause health problems?????????????? |

Strength:
still a nice car on the inside
Weakness:
poor service. We have had 3 of the same vehicles for the last 8 years. We started with a Dodge Caravan and our last 2 have been T&C LXI's. We purchased this last vehicle based on being extremely happy with our last 2 vehicles. This vehicle is nothing short of a nightmare. I have taken the car in 5 times for what I perceive a very rough idle (you can feel yourself shaking when seating the seats). They have repeatably found nothing they say except replacing a tire with broken belt, blocking the radiator, etc.. We have also had the low pressure issue with tires among others. I am still working on it but be aware. |

I'm sorry I have towrite this review as I loved my previous Town and Country and raved about it when people said American cars weren't well built, but this car is a real lemon.
Weakness:
Totally pissed off with the van. Don't buy one. I owned a 1997 Town and Country AWD that I loved. I put 100,000 miles on it and it was perfect. I traded for a 2003 Town and Country AWD and find the performance totally unacceptible. They seem to have changed the axle ratio to 2.37 and the car can't climb a hill without shifting down to a lower gear. I travelled about 200 miles this weekend on curvy mountain roads and the car can't maintain 50 or 60 mph without downshifting . This is very annoying as the transmission is continually downshiftin and upshifting. Even on thruways the car shifts to a lower gear at 70 mph when climbing the slightest grade. I'm so disappointed with the vehicle that even though I've owned the car for 3 weeks I'm ready to take a loss and sell the car. Has anyone elsen noticed this problem. The dealer says they can't do anything about it because this is the way the car is built. Because of the high axle ratio, the car is always lugging at low rpm's. At 65 mph I'm only turning 2000 rpm's which doesn't allow the engine to reach its highest torque range. |
