Strength:

um.....strengths? i guess i would say the cd player is nice.

Weakness:

not enough space to list them all....underneath bumps, AC compressor that gives out at 50,000 miles, serpentine belts that need to be replaced a couple times, squeeks no one can find, etc....

Warning to all who are reading these reviews in consideration of buying a Chrsyler Van: DON'T!!! We had a 1996 Dodge Caravan - constant AC problems and the service dept. could NEVER find anything wrong. Hit 50,000 miles and the compressor died. Cost to repair? $900. Traded it in for a 2000 Town & Country LX instead. Bumps from underneath, took four visits to fix the steering, a weird squeek from somewhere, the heater fan makes a weird noise, and now we are at 57,000 miles and guess what happened this week? The AC compressor died! Do we see a pattern here?!!!!! Fed up with Chrysler, never buying Chrysler again, ever, ever, ever. Hoping to upload this piece of crap in the next few weeks and replace it with a Toyota Sienna.

Strength:

Luxury, Sound System, Leather, Smoothe ride, nicest looking minivan out there, LOTS of ROOM!

Weakness:

Be cautious of the transmission, brakes, and a whistling noise.

Just bought my first minivan, the Chrysler Town & Country LXi @ 74,000 miles, mint condition, drives beautiful. This van is the top of the line w/ all the luxury features you could want espically if you have a family. I paid $6995 for mine at an end of the year sale. The only thing that I may have a hint about is the brakes. I think the previous owner road the pads down too much and cut into the rotors, so they may need to be replaced. Everything else works great so far, I am getting scared now with reading all these reviews. I read just as many good reviews as I do bad. So maybe it's just a coin toss. I did notice a sort of whistling sound when excelerating at certain speeds. Also, the brakes feel a little mooshy, but my finance' works on cars and said the brake pads are fine, the roters may be bad. I read that in the reviews that it can be the rubber lining. It feels like your in an SUV not a minivan. You feel real high up and I've got the leather seats which is nice with the wood grain panels. Absolutely beautiful. I love that when I bought the van, I didn't have to get the windows tinted or have a cd player installed or do any of those minor preping when you switch out of one vehicle to another. It was all done already. Well all in all, this van drives like new at 74,000 miles.....maybe I'll be a lucky owner w/ little to no problems/repairs.

Strength:

the radio works. It holds a lot of gas. The bucket seats are nice too.

Weakness:

It's a piece of crap...how can a motor BLOW UP at 75K miles????

This is the WORST vehicle we've ever owned and I will never own another Chrysler again...the engine BLEW up...$3000 for a junk yard replacement! I can't say anything good about it. And, now I learn that people don't expect Chryslers to last past 75k miles...WHAT A JOKE. They should be ashamed of themselves for such poor quality. Forget about buying American...no more!

Strength:

it's a great looking vehicle.

Weakness:

too many internal issues---lights--horn--- door locks-- whiny steering.

the body of the vehicle looks great. the inside is quite roomy although i don't like that side arm at the front passenger and 2nd passenger seats. it gets in the way. since we are a very active and athletic bunch here we have equipment in the back quite frequently. if the equipment isn't packed in tightly it will move around and annoy the driver from time to time. i wish there were more large storage pockets for athelic equipment. the seat space behind the driver seems a little tight for a tallperson.. anyone over 5'7 could be uncomfortable for any extended ride. opening the back hatch has been with some difficulty on occasion, it's not constant but it's often. it will at first lead you to believe the hatch is still locked but with some aggression it will open after a 2nd try.i have been deceived by those darn inside lights when i have exited the vehicle. one time i think they're going off and it doesn't happen. the next time they do go off and i am surprised. a couple of times i've had to climb back into the vehicle and fuss with the lights to get them to go off properly. the door locks are annoying because inevitably i have to manually open the second passenger door when i know i hit the automatic button from the front passenger seat. the heating and air conditioning work fine, the horn has malfuctioned twice. first the entire horn went dead--- had that corrected under warranty and about a month later one side of the same horn--ha ha-- malfunctioned and warranty took care of that as well,. thank god for the warranty, i guess. now we are having a problem with that whining that appears to come from steering. the dealership says everything appears okay as of today-- 10-21-03.. not true. it still whines. we will be returning it again to hopefully have this problem corrected once and for all. it's another little annoyance.over all i would not recommend this van as a new or used purchase to any of my family oracquaintances..

Strength:

It atleast breaks down right away and not after the warranty.

Weakness:

Want to trade it in....well forget it. It isn't worth squat after a year!

I have never felt so ripped off as a consumer after I purchased this vehicle. It has stranded me twice in parking lots with 2 small children. It sticks in gear and then jumps forward. Said it was a "rain" switch? The windows rarely function right and the paint pealed off the bumper after a car wash.

We rented a van for vacation and went over 4000 miles and never got tired. The ride was great. We love the interior and the room in the van. My mother-in-law can get in and out easily. The ride is very, very comfortable.

Weakness:

We just don't know what will go wrong next. If it gives us more problems, we will sell it. Why have something that is in the shop all the time.

We bought our town and country a little over a month ago and this is the 3rd time to the shop for the power steering. It whines constantly. It also has a starting problem. We thought we had done all our homework before buying this van. If I had known it would be in the shop every week, I would have kept the car I had. The gas milage stinks. I only get 12mpg in town. Maybe it has something to do with the starting problem.Fuel pump? Once the driver side window wouldn't roll up. It hasn't happened since.

Strength:

good pick up. great engine. good gas mileage. solid vehicle. good sound system. heated seats nice. nice looks.

Weakness:

A/C sucks. had to replace compressor twice, evap. once. $3500 in repairs to a/c starting at 40k miles. steering volume control will sometimes change the radio channel. Windshield leaks air when A/C set on recirculate. Re-sale value is terrible. Heated seats are broke. (stay on and get too hot.) van has only 60k miles. I expected better. Asked for help from Chrystler they blew us off. I thought they were more customer oriented than that. I will never buy another Chystler as long as I live and nor will my 6 kids. I have owned 4 of their vehicles to this date. Will sell my new 2002 Dodge truck to get rid of my Chrystler head-aches. Ford/Chevy here I come:). Chrystler you blew it!

This is the nicest, tightest minivan on the market. It has the 3.8L engine and great acceleration, good gas mlg.(21-27mpg). we love the infin. stereo and gimble spkr. control. All the bells and whistles. nice looking, chrome wheels, etc. etc.

Strength:

easy access with two sliding doors seats our family of 5 comfortably

Weakness:

repairs to the belts and transmission at relatively low miles

We bought the van used, 20,000 miles to replace a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager which had A/C, and serpentine belt problems. (replaced twice by us within 2 years). We had been pleased for the most part with the options. 2 months ago we had to have the transmission sensor replaced after the van would not shift out of low gear, and yesterday the belt tensioner FELL OFF in our driveway. Thankfully we bought an extended warranty. There are only 35,433 miles on the van, but it had been longer than 3 years for the factory warranty to apply. We are very wary of the reliablity of Chrysler/Plymouth minivans and will probably not buy another.

Strength:

Love the way it drives and handles, it's a dream out on the highway. Seats remove easily, great stereo system & CD player, back power liftgate is really handy.

Weakness:

The elec. windows quiting working off and on (service dept. couldn't fix unless they were not working when I brought it in) and the broken sway bar problem.

We purchased this van with 26,000 miles, looked brand new! Luckily it still had warranty, the front windows quit working, the back power liftgate quit working, had a noise in the front left wheel that still hasn't been corrected, but the worse has been the bumping noise underneath the van (have had it in 3 times) finally fixed, it was a broken sway bar. Isn't that dangerous? I wish we would have bought something else after reading these reviews.
