Strength:

Great Style Update on 2001 models. Very spacious & well appointed interior for the money.Ride is wonderfully smooth & contolled.Double side doors standard is a great feature.

Weakness:

Shifter mechanism is a little ackward.Would have liked a Tachometer.(may just install one for $80)Rear hatch is very heavy & hard to lift. Emergency brake release is difficult to get to, a long reach.

Hell of a lot of car for the money!!!! Base model no power doors or windows. Interior is still very classy. Great seats, & many of the same interior features as models costing thousands more. Has felt very solid & well screwed together, Silver paint & new body style are really great looking. Base sound system is very good.Am very happy with my car, Was in & out of dealer in less than an hour with my new van. At $16,777 there was No haggling to be done!!!!A great buy & so far a real pleasure to drive. The 4 cylinder engine has to work a little in some situations, but seems very willing. & more than sufficient for 98% of my driving needs. Im also enjoying the great gas milage .

Options, luxury, size

Weakness:

haven't found any yet.

I have always loved the look of this van. Now I own one. After reading all the reviews, it seems the jury is still out on the quality and reliability of this product. So far I am pleased with my purchase considering this model retails for between 15-16k.

Strength:

3.8 liter engine is strong; comfortable interior; good visibility; sound system is nice (cd player, infinity speakers).

Weakness:

Front seat leg room is a little weak; There seems to be some weird ticking that happens in the steering column. Its almost like the key is hitting the plastic around the steering column, but that's not it. It happens when turning, but I haven't figured out how to easily reproduce the problem.

(1999 Model) - Overall, this is a great mini-van. We got it at a year end sale (significately off MSRP). For a mid-20's price, you get great value over sedans and wagons and definately SUVs. It's easy to get around inside. I'm a little disappointed in the memory seats. I can't figure out how to program them properly. I think the engineers could have made the interface a little easier. Everything about the Town and Country seems solid...we have only had it for 3 months, so time will tell, but I'm very happy with it now.

Weakness:

In response to review of Max M from San Jose. Had the same steering shaft noise problem. After eight trips to the dealer and replacement of the whole rack and pinion assembly (for nought) the problem was solved by replacing the lower part of the steering shaft that connects to the rack and pinion.

(1999 Model) - Comfortable, and versatile.

Strength:

Nicely appointed. Comfortable ride. Good handling for a minivan.

Weakness:

Strange thump when accelerating with the fuel tank half full.

(1999 Model) - Neither the local dealer or Chrysler could find (or admit to knowing) the solution to the audible thump that could be felt right through the frame into the seats when accelerating when the gas tank was half full. Chyrsler finally gave in and gave me a brand new replacement van. WHICH DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING! The National Traffic Safety Board site had reports on earlier model years experiencing the same problem, with no solution. Apparently it only happens on the shorter SX models. I would not recommend this model for anyone. I finally just made them take the van back and purchased a different vehicle. I think Chrysler is not telling us all. (X-files complex with this vehicle.)

Strength:

looks, roomy

Weakness:

bad gas mileage and the constant mechanical problems.

This van is very roomy and nice to look at, but the mechanical problems are never-ending. After 1 yr, we needed 2 new front tires, the brakes are nearly bald, the stripping fell off the passenger door and the parking brake needed to be replaced. It has gone completely dead while backing down a hill (!) and needed to be towed. Service at the dealership has been horrible.

Model Reviewed: Town & Country AWD

Strength:

Best looking minivan around. Has a lot of room. Drives very smooth. AWD works great. The automatic side doors, automatic tailgate and uggage organizer have made my life much easier.

Weakness:

Reliability! I bought the car in Nov 2000 and have had the warning light come on at 12,000 miles which was due to a bad solenoid. At 13,000 miles, the rear-wiper stopped working due to a bad switch and the driver's side heated seat stop working at 13,000 due to a bad heated cushion. After a bad rain at 15,000 miles, the van squeeled as I started it but went away. I also have an odd squeel when driving in dry weather but seems to go away after it rains. Also, they wanted $800 for a 15,000 mile checkup. What could be wrong with it? Needless to say, I don't have a lot of confidence in the van.

I always refused to drive a minivan. If I bought one, it would have to be the best so I bought the T&C AWD. After driving it for 10 months, I must say, it has made my life so much easier and I love it. However, I am very nervous about the reliability of this model. I don't get a safe feeling driving around my toddler in a van that has the warning light come on at 12,000 miles. I have always owned Honda's and Acura's and have never had any problems. I am scared to know what will follow. I didn't buy the extended warranty because they sprung it on me the day I picked up the van. I think I am going to reconsider since I think I may need it! If I don't get the extended warranty, I feel as though I should sell it before the warranty is up so I don't spend a ton of money on repairs.

Have had it for 4 years and replace water pump and drive belt that is all.
Wife was in a Head on With a Drunk 2 weeks ago. She SURVIVED The police said if She had not been driving the VAN. She would be pushing daisies. I just found a 94 T & C AWD. Picking it up this weekend, Driving 300 Mile`s to get it. The Wife say`s She will never drive anything else.

Weakness:

Awd seams to wear tires a bit more then 2 wd`s do. But that AWD is WORTH IT.

Never really thought i could afford a T & C But the Wife seen this one on a car lot and fell in love with it when we drove by it. Well a week of driving by it we finally stoped in to look at it. Well by the end of the day it was our`s.

Model Reviewed: /Chrysler T&C AWD Limited

Strength:

I believe minivans are pretty ugly, but I needed one. I think the Chrysler T&C is the most attractive minivan built.

Weakness:

Odd humming noise when pulling away from a stop. Lower control arm pivot bolt recall. Sliding door electronic control module failure. Automatic lights turn on/off at inappropriate times. Unwilling to address concern over fuel system leaks found after IIHS crash tests. Worst of all: Arrogant corporate attitude that doesn't desire to sell safe vehicles.

Best looking minivan. Good power and drives comfortably. Several little problems though, and Daimler Chrysler Customer Assistance is arrogant and rude! They are quick to say that they'll note my complaints, but are unwilling to do anything. They then hung up on me.

Strength:

Powerful, Roominess

Weakness:

Quality Control and reliabilities

I'm now glad to rid of it after almost 5 yrs of ownership and many of minor headaches and nuisances from repairing waterpump, audio system, belts but this one did it in: Having replaced a 3rd battery in June '01 since I purchased it new back in 10/96 and having been stranded twice because of a dead battery. I finally told the wife and the kids, "enough of this" so we took the car and traded it in for a Japanese made SUV. The kids loved this car because of its space/room as it was also a powerful van on the road as we drove it up and down the West coast from SD up to Victoria, BC, Oregon Cascade etc. But Chrysler's quality control problem is very much evident in this van and it was probably the last American made car we purchased for sometime to come.
