Strength:

Excellent finish on the interior and exterior. A pleasure to ride in or drive in the city or country. Very spacious and comfortable. The only AWD in it's class sorry guys you lost the battle in this one. Can use any kind of unleaded gas oh what a nice thing in todays gas prices sorry honda and toyota you loose.

Weakness:

Not a weakness but could use the same power plant as the 300M. The 3.5L matched up with the AWD will be a killer van if you asked me WOW!

Purchasing this one is easy when you do your research and approach the salesman ready. Bought it $1500 below invoice snag! I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone wanting luxury and elbow room on the long trips.

Strength:

Comfort, looks great, drives great, good turning radius
Easy entry, front and back seats, even for those with some handicaps.

Weakness:

gas mileage

This van looks soooo good! It has lots of room. Even when all 7 seats are full, plenty of room and comfort. Infinity sound system is great! I feel safe driving in this van. I have the LX model, because I wanted the velour seats. I was happy with the Caravans, but wanted the T&C because it just looks better and has more standard options. Was surprised that I got better mileage in the Caravans(about 20mpg in the city). I only get 14 in the T&C. Love it anyway!

Low frequency noise and pedal vibration!!! This is a NIGHTMARE!!!On 01/24/2001, I met with regional technical representative from Chrysler about low frequency noises and vibrations for my 2001 Chrysler Town & Country Limited AWD. I have explained to him about what the dealership has done on the car in order to resolve the problem [after numerous visitation at the dealership, they changed my vehicle’s transmission to isolate the problem yet the problems become worse than before]. I have indicated what was the problem as we are test-driving the vehicle. After a day, he called and he explained the following things are done on the vehicle for the solution:
1. Adjusted rear end forward to center carrier bearing hanger
2. Isolated rear a/c hoses
When I got the vehicle, the noises are still there and vibrations are still vibrating through gas pedal. There are NO IMPROVEMENT with the vehicle.

So, here are my thoughts: there are problems with their products and Chrysler’s customers are complaining about these problems. Chrysler’s engineers, technicians, and customer supports are ignoring these problems and not listening to their customers. Obviously they will lose their customers (I know that I will never purchase their product ever again after this vehicle). My suggestion is DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM CHRYSLER. If you are in a market for a minivan, then purchase yours from elsewhere.

Noise is a nightmare! It happens around 2000 to 2200 RPM especially in the lower gear. All new 2001 seem to have it!!

Strength:

This is a really great van with a few exceptions. I have the 203hp V6 in it and it kicks! I have acctually raced this van. It wasn't against sports cars just other "normal" cars. It drives like a car. The LXI comes with a great stereo leather and all the great comforts. It's like the ferrari of mini vans

Weakness:

TRANSMITION Every 50000 miles a new one is needed. I drive it hard only a couple times a month. It's worth fixing it because it's great, now. The stereo buttons stick and some times won't work. The left side sliding door lock also sticks.

Driven every day been to canada with it hauls a55 and looks good for a mini van

Model Reviewed: Chrysler T&C (Voyager)

Strength:

CONSUMPTION: Equiped with an Mercedes Diesel-Engine (Common-Rail-Diesel), it's very very economical: 30 MPG
SPEED: More than 125mph. Enough to meet "standard-cruise-speed" on german highways, but very fast for such a fat car!
125mph - You don't believe it? I took a photo:

Weakness:

Nothing!
But I've thrown away the mortifying Standard-Radio (cassette/CD) and build in an GPS-Navigation-Radio with an external MP3-CD-Player.

The european version is a great deal!
This minivan is called 'Chrysler Grand Voyager', but equiped like the T&C. And also it's build in Austria, so it doesn't suffer poor american quality-standards.
It's a pleasure to drive this car.

Strength:

Good ride and great bells and whistles. Can fit 3 rottweilers and three people comfortably.

Weakness:

Poor gas milage- 17mph with 90% freeway driving.
OBD light came on with transmission problem. Dealer says it was just an electrial malfunction. Stay tuned.

It does what I want it to do which is daily transportation for me and on weekends makes a good dog showmobile. A/C works great in the rear. Only over all disapointment was the gas milage did not live up to the advertising of 22 freeway.

Strength:

It is roomy and can carry multiple kids and their stuff.

Weakness:

Transmission and a/c need fixed every 2-3 years with original transmission being replaced at 3,000 miles. Very costly to run when replacing parts.

It is a roomy van and looks nice. I only have 54,000 miles on it and it still looks good. I would not buy another one and have switched to using another vehicle while this one decorates my driveway.

Model Reviewed: Town & Country LXI AWD

Strength:

Best looking on the market! Total luxury for a minivan. Wood grain kit, leather, memory seats, etc. Comfortable. Air Conditioning works great.

Weakness:

Vibration in floor board & gas pedal at 1400 to 1700 RPM's. If you have your left foot on the brake and apply the gas, once you reach around 1500 RPM's the floor and van start to vibrate very loudly. When going around 47-52 mph (which unfortunately is most in town driving speeds) the RPM's drop to 1600 and a vibration resonates through the exhaust system to create a droning noise. Take your foot off the gas and it goes away. Put your foot back on the gas and it's there again. Took it to the dealership 3 times, still not fixed. They now say this is inherent of the AWD van. No fix. It's just the way they are. I told the guy that I can't believe they sell a $35,000 van to a person and expect to them to live with a loud droning noise everytime they drive it. They must be crazy! Who would pay that kind of money for a new van to do that. Fortunately I purchased it used and it came with an extended warranty. Boy would I be mad if I had to pay for all the repairs they have done since I've owned it. It gets poor gas mileage and the left sliding door sticks.

I don't know if these vibration noises only happen in the AWD. I didn't need an AWD. That just happen to be what we found. I read something in Consumer Reports a while back about the T&C and if I'm not mistaken it said to stay away from the AWD. That could be why. But of course now that I would like to re-read the article I can't find it anywhere on Consumer Reports anymore. If the FWD was different, I would consider buying one(with an extended warranty of course).

This is the first minivan I've owned. Aside from the droning noise and vibration I like it alot. It is perfect for my family. The repairs that have been made to it were done while it was in the shop for the vibration. As soon as the dealership told me that they were not going to do anything to fix the noise because Chrysler has stated that, "this is an inherent condition of the AWD" I told my husband I wanted to get rid of it. He said we could buy a newer one that wasn't AWD. But I've read that the 2001 has a vibration problem also, only now it is around 2200 RPM's. I'm really bummed out because I can't think of another van I would even want. The odyssey is probably the most reliable, but it is so cheesy! You can't even get leather!

The Town & Country is by far the best looking and nicest minivan out there, but the reliability seems to be in question. I have been reading alot about these vans on the internet lately and it doesn't seem to matter what year you have, even the new ones have problems. It seems to be hit and miss. Chrysler needs to get a better handle on their products because you don't hear many Honda customers complaining about their cars (or vans). Problems is, none of the other vans are as sharp looking or as luxurious. Chrysler needs to realize people won't buy a vehicle based on looks alone. There needs to be reliability behind a product.

Strength:

Comfortable interior-good Bose stero

Weakness:

Transmission is the worst possible!!!!!! Very common complaint Chrysler seems to ignore!

Had the van 4 years-trading for a Honda Odessey! Interior is comfortable-rides nice-maybe too soft on curves. Rebuilt the tranny -and continues to have tranny problems- all transmission specialists say its the nature of the beast. Would maybe buy again if they fixed the tranny problems! Seems to chip paint easily, goes through brake pads quickly, and loses the little nuts and bolts holding interior accessories easily.
