Price,Blind Spots Chryslers are the only way to go, I have owned 3 town and country's, a 1987,1995,2001 and they have all been good cars but on both the '87 and '95 had problems when it hit 200,000 miles witch is not bad at all. In 2000 I bought a Honda Oddesy BIG MISTAKE after a year of problems I sold that and bought a 2001 Town and Country love it! Similar Products Used: Honda Odssey- DO NOT BUY ONE |

Chrysler T&C LXI
Strength:
Great design, comfortable interior, good visability
Weakness:
Pooor assembly quality for such a high priced van A very well designed van that was poorly assembled with likewise poor Chrysler care for their customers.I purchased this van in 95 when this new design hit the market. After several weeks I noticed one of the sliding doors wouldn't close properly. After meeting with the Chrysler representative the problem was determined to be a wrong spot weld on the bottom runner. Rather then correct the problem at the factory they simply aligned the door to make it work. This product should never have left the factory in this condition. Although the rep was willing to correct this problem, the solution he proposed would have ruined the structural intergreity of the van. Just stupid. Strength:
Interior is very comfortable- A/C works very good- Fit and finish are good
Weakness:
Transmission reliability Caution! Do your research on Chrysler mini-vans. I didn't and at 66,000 miles am facing a $2000 transmission rebuild on a 1996 Town and Country LXi minivan. Others warned me and internet reviews are there. Thought I would be immune because of good driving habits but to no avail. The minivan is in great shape and looks very nice but this lack of reliability (and cost of repairs) does not overshadow this expense. I contacted Chrysler. Their response, "Too Bad". I will be trading this money pit off as soon as the repair is made for a more reliable vehicle that I have spent some time researching. If you own one of these vans, it is just a matter of time. Trade it now. Similar Products Used: Have nocompared to others |

transmission and paint job and dealer service. Overall, I love the vehicle. I put a lot of miles on a vehicle for pleasure and business. Most of the time I have several passengers. The captain's chairs have made for a very comfortable ride for me and my passengers. I started having difficulties with the car almost as soon as I drove it off the lot, however. Rear window vent motors needed to be replaced when the van was a year old. The transmission started leaking at 30,000 miles and started bucking at 70,000. There was a leak on the passenger's side of the floor that took the dealer a year to locate and plug and I have had episodes of paint peeling off the vehicle. The dealer repainted the roof but now the paint is going on the sides and the hood and I am on my own to repaint it. I am pushing 200,000 miles now. The transmission and radiator were replaced at 176,000 and except for a minor oil leak here and there it is running better than it did 100,000 miles ago. Similar Products Used: I drove Chevy Caprice wagons before owning this van. They ran well and I never had any mechanical trouble, but they were not as comfortable and they didn't look as good. |
