Strength:
Interior is nice. Like the leather. Very roomy.
Weakness:
Wipers turn on by themselves (sometimes)and turn off quickly. I do like the T/C, but it seems that most on this message board have the same issues. I hope Chrysler can see and fix the problems in future models. Other than not being reliable in some instances as mentioned in "Weaknesses" above, seems like T/C is okay. Strength:
looks great, Very comfortable..
Weakness:
I have found that transmission problems seem to a major problem. I talked to one person who has replaced his transmission 3 times (not under warranty). At $2000 a shot, I have to steer clear of this auto. I think this is a great looking van. I came very close to buying one until I began researching it on the internet. I was thinking of trading in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee because of problems. Now i see that these problems seem to be in other Chrysler vehicles as well. Strength:
Clean vehicle with great "kid transport" features. Like the two slider doors and second row captain chairs. Wife demanded quad seating, which held us to a T&C during our search. Plenty of head room for 6'4" driver and all controls are easy to manage. Easy to remove second and third row seating. Attractive exterior, which keeps "new car look" with this 1997 model. Used car price was a welcome strength as well.
Weakness:
A few door dings, which wife wishes were gone (Mothers Day is coming) and windshield wiper will start/stop on its own once in a while. This car did not come with a CD player, which we wanted. Front hood is a bit heavy when opening. We are very happy with the T&C, although our experience is quite short. We found that this vehicle offered the required items (Quad Seating - primary) with the added features we wanted. This vehilcle came with a factory roof rack and class "2" trailer hitch, which we would have expected with any other van. I wanted to purchase a 1998 - 2000 year model but found few available and prices north of my target. This vehicle had 46,000 miles at time of purchase. I bought a "used car" warranty for an additional 3-years or 36,000 miles. This should be a perfect vehicle for us and we are most likely to drive this to its grave. Similar Products Used: First van owned. Other cars are BMW, Oldsmobile, etc. Test drove many vans and found T&C to be most comfortable. Honda OD was very nice but twice the cost paid for our T&C. |

Strength:
Comfortable front seats, trip computer, good sound system.
Weakness:
I bought used from Carl Burger with 46,000 mi. Started out okay, then at about 55,000mi started to fall apart. Serpentine belt was replaced 4 times. Dealer replaced tensioner assembly ($200.00), and said that the bolts fracture at about that mileage. Whats up with that, cheap engine parts! After that I had some body work done (at the dealer), when I got it back, the gas gage didn't work. They looked at it and wanted $500 for a new computer. I went without a gas gage. Then the cooling fans went. Payed $60 for the dealer to tell me it was the computer again. Also, the tires never wore right either. Engine is loud, and transmission shifts are slow and clunky. Steer clear of Chrysler, Dodge etc. They may have invented the minivan, but as usual, the imports have perfected it. The Chrysler my be a tiny bit more comfortable, but I will sacrafice that for safety and reliability any day. Test the imports before you decide on a Chrysler. Weakness:
PRICEY. VERY LOUD WIND NOISE FROM NEWLY DESIGNED LUGGAGE RACK, WHICH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERS KNEW ABOUT BUT DID NOT TELL ME OR OTHERS I HAVE TALKED TO BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT..NOW THE PARTS TO FIX IT ARE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. WHILE IN FLORIDA RECENTLY, FOUND THAT THE AC CONDENSATION LEAKS ON THE SHOTGUN PASSENGER'S FEET AND WETS THE MAT THERE. FOR SUCH TV HYPE REGARDING QUALITY... THIS IS UNACCEPTALE IN A NEW CAR..SO WHAT'S NEW. I STILL THAT THIS THE BEST IN IT'S CLASS, BUT THIS ONE MAY CAUSE ME MORE HEADACHES Similar Products Used: THE LEAST FAVORITE OF MY THREE |

Strength:
I love the smooth comfortable ride, especially great on long roadtrips. All seats are comfortable, even the bench! The soundsystem is awesome. It has alot of curb appeal,I was a SUV lover and NEVER thought I would be caught dead in a van!! Love all the gimics.
Weakness:
The visibility out the rear while backing up at night is non exsistant, its like backing up blind folded.I had a few repairs done while it was still under warranty, the major thing was the computer system for temp, compass replaced. Now I have 76K on it and waiting for transmission to fail, I have had a few episodes where transmission refuses to shift into higher gear,I turn the car off and start it and it does fine. Also rear side window makes a jiggling noise sometimes. In the rain I get alot of wheelwell noise. Overall I love this van. I am currently shopping for a new van, I still prefer the T&C.The others....Ford ,Honda,Toyota just do not have the luxury and refinement that the T&C offers and they all are in the same price range.I prefer the sleeker look of T&C, the others are boxy.I hope the transmission problem will be solved in the new models. Strength:
One of the best looking vans I've seen. Nice and room interior and confortable seats.
Weakness:
Too many times in the shop - terrible gas mileage - (about 14mpg overall) So we've owned the car for about 2 years - bought used from Carl Burger Chrlyser/Dodge. It had 52,000 miles when we bought it - had the 129 point check and go the extended warrenty (THANK YOU GOD!). Where do we begin - Similar Products Used: Any of the other cars I've owned BMW 325, Mitsubishi 3000VR4, Mistubishi Eclipse and Toyota Camry. |
