Strength:

Great ride. 3.8L has power to spare. Very quiet vehicle. Wonderful seats. Gas mileage is just under 25 on the highway, 23+ overall, although we admittedly don't drive over 65 mph

Weakness:

Have had no real problems yet. Vehicle makes strange little whining noise at speeds under 25. Also not much room for a real trailer hitch with full sized spare tire.

Well built luxury van, really too large to call a mini. Purchased it with 60,000 miles on it and a few dings. Everything works well. The ride is very good. This is the only vehicle we've owned in recent years in which I can ride long distance and not be in pain at the end of the day. So far very happy with the vehicle. Can hold a normal (non-shouting) conversation at 65 mph. With all that said, the vehicle is a bit pricey.

I totally love this car...the look, the color, the way it feels when you drive on the highway and in the city..my kids are always comfotable. I haven't had any problems. I have driven it around town quite a bit since I've had it and it hasn't given me no problems..

Strength:

- Great vehicle for long rides
- Accessibility for children in the second row seating is much easier than other vehicles
- Sliding doors are easy to use in parking lots compared to conventional doors
- Looks better than most other vans
- With seats removed, lumber and sheetrock can fit inside
- Less expensive than other minivans
- Rear corner-panel windows are cool
- Cargo space for dogs/cargo/etc is incomparable

Weakness:

Ok - here's the list:
- transmission weak and needing to be replaced
- steering has unusual "clicking" while turning that dealer can't fix
- Interior door panel (driver's side) comes mostly off when pulled, unfixed as of yet.
- Windshield wipers turn on/off on their own, which is highly irritating
- Serpentine belt broken/replaced three times
- Loud squeaking when AC/defrost is used, which dealer says is AC compressor
- Second row seating won't adjust for additional leg room
- Second and third row seats weigh a ton to remove
- Original radio hard to operate w/many bugs. We replaced w/CD player.
- Very loud wind noise at highway speed makes talking difficult.
- Power with 3.0L engine is pathetic
- Power steering lines rusted through after four years and had to be replaced
- No efficient way of getting heat/air to the rear when kids are on board

We have over 85,000 miles on this van, and the little problems always seem to keep cropping up. I have major concerns about the transmission and the air conditioning unit. The plastic parts, such as door panels and dash control knobs, need constant maintenance. In all fairness, this vehicle has given us years of relatively dependable service despite the small maintenance annoyances that plague the van on a monthly basis.

Despite the apparent shortcomings of the 96 model van, we are considering purchasing a 2001 Town and Country van as a replacement, with hopes that the new year series will bring much-needed upgrades to the "details" of the vehicle.

Strength:

Beautiful looking, inside and out. Smoothe ride. Doesn't feel like a minivan.

Weakness:

little problems all the time. Horrible customer service from Chrysler!

I absolutely love the look of the T & C. Simply a classy looking van. (only van I like as far as looks). HOWEVER, it has been one problem after another. First a little irritating noise in the steering column, after several visits to the dealership they finally fixed it. Next, the transmission, many problems, mysteriously the dealership "cannot duplicate". Next, the instrument panel lights blink on and off continuously. Dealer "cannot duplicate". I am getting really afraid of llsing my money if I keep this car any longer. The resale value is horrible! I have lost 10K in one year. We are now trading it for a suburban.

Strength:

VERY QUIET, ALL WHEEL DRIVE HAS MORE TRACTION THAN MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK, EXCELLENT ON ICE AND DEEP SNOW, WILL GO ANYWHERE WITH AWD. LOVE THE COLOR NEW FOR 2001 (STEEL BLUE) HAD IT SPECIAL ORDERED WITH A CLOTH INTERIOR BECAUSE OF COLD CLIMATE. 3.8 RUNS GREAT, GOOD POWER, VERY QUIET, MILEAGE RANGES UP TO 20 IF DRIVEN EASY. LOVE THE DUAL POWER SLIDING DOORS. THREE ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL IS A MUST HAVE.

Weakness:

ONLY ONE PROBLEM WITH THE REAR BRAKES MAKING NOISE WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP. SOUNDS LIKE RUNNING A FINGER AROUND A WINE GLASS.

COMPLETELY SATISFIED AS SOON AS THE BRAKE NOISE IS FIXED. THE DEALER WILL TRY TO TELL YOU THAT TRACTION CONTROL IS JUST AS GOOD AS ALL WHEEL DRIVE. SPEND A FEW EXTRA DOLLARS FOR ALL WHEEL DRIVE IT IS AN EXCELLENT SYSTEM THAT REALLY WORKS IN BAD WEATHER. AWD ALSO GIVES YOU MANY OTHER FEATURES BESIDES JUST AWD. WHEN I ORDERED MY VAN AWD INCLUDES IN THE PACKAGE, ALUMINUM WHEELS, SELF LEVELING SUSPENSION, ANTILOCK BRAKES, 3.8 ENGINE, AND SOME OTHER HEAVY DUTY ITEMS. I SKIPPED THE POWER ENDGATE, I THOUGHT IT WAS NOT NEEDED AND I MIGHT OPEN IT INTO SOMETHING AND SCRATCH IT SOMEDAY.

Strength:

This is an awesome van. For the price i paid it was well worth it!

Weakness:

I have had no problems with it at all.

I have taken this thing to Florida, Colorado, and across other States. I has been an excellent van. The heated, power seats are great. Everything is powered. Diamler-Chrysler has beteen its competitors once again. And with the new 2001 Town&Countrys coming out they will blow away the other companies as they aways do.

Strength:

Reliable, Powerful and Beautiful. Has all the bells and whistles.

Weakness:

Alot of "little things" went out on it in the last 4 years (both back door locks, the cruise control on 3 different occasions, the CD holder latch twice, and many other things. Alot of it was covered under warrantee. The door locks going out cost $150 to fix for one door, so when the second one went out, we left it broken.

We got a good deal on it new because we know the owner of the dealership. Sadly, we are now looking for a new car because a lady in a 97 Ford Explorer made a illegal left in front of us and we were going 40+ MPH. We slammed into her straight on and knocked that Ford P.O.S. on it's side. (The lady was buckled in and was OK) The seat belts and air bags in our car worked beautifully. My wife (driving) and myself were in the front seats and our 3 and 4 year-old boys were buckled in car seats in the back. Other than my wife and I having a few bumps and scrapes, we all walked away safely. I can say that Chrysler makes a safe vehicle! Overall, we have been happy with it. I recommend it and we will probably be getting another one just like it.

Strength:

Very roomy with a lot of features. Little road noise, strong acceleration, very light liftgate. Very safe vehicle

Weakness:

A little expensive, but I feel I got a great deal and you get what you pay for.

This is truly the best mini-van available. I looked at Honda, Ford, Cheverlot and Dodge. I almost bought a dodge caravan but all of the reviews scared me. I am glad I went with the T/C. We drove a 2001 Caravan Sport that was small, uncomfortable and terribly underpowered. I know that I haven't owned this that long, but I would recommend it. Overall very satisfied with my purchase

Model Reviewed: Chrysler T & C

Strength:

- Luxurious, quiet drive; great sound system
- Looks good inside and out; lots of room
- Plenty of power with 3.8l engine
- For short drivers (wife), electronic driver's seat gets her way up over the road; for tall drivers (me), lots of room. For obvious reasons, we love the memorized seat positions keyed to our individual electronic transmitters (pretty cool to have all the seats and mirrors exactly where each of us wants them before we even climb in the car!)
- We love the Taupe interior; very easy on the eyes during long drives
- Auto air conditioning/heating works great but controls complicated (see below)
- In dash, 4 CD changer works great...looks good too
- Power doors & rear hatch work as advertised; manual operation (if used) only a little harder to open than our previous Caravan

Weakness:

- So far, so good (knock on wood) but Chrysler reliability always worrisome
- Auto air/heat controls confusing; one must read the manual; bottom line: best is to set a temperature and let the system figure out the rest

- What can I say, we like Chrysler minivans...and my other car is a BMW Z3! Yes, we've had minor things go wrong on our two previous ones, including the infamous tensioner problem (twice), but all in all we'd still buy (and did buy!) another Chrysler product
- Looked at the Odyssey, but just didn't do anything for us...we got spoiled by our Caravan Sport..and this Town and Country beats the heck out of the Odysseys we looked at (both looks and performance)
- Getting 18.5MPG with air conditioning on most of the time. Slightly worse than expected, but goes up to 21+MPG without a/c.

Bottom line: great car, we're happy!

Strength:

Nice Power, very comfortable seating, nice features

Weakness:

Handles, as I tell my mother "like a toaster on wheels" other than that, i think it is a very nice vehicle, although the interior integrity is not what it should, and wind noise is bad at 70+

They are cheap now, and whith 145,000 miles on it, she still runs strong, and squeels tires at stop lights. The only things replace at 145k are Tension pully and the water pump...
