Strength:
Nice features. Powerful for a van of its size. Great arbitration process via Chrysler... I was absolutely shocked at how concerned and supportive they were to resolve the problem.
Weakness:
Electrical...a major issue Have had continuous electrical problems from day 1. Fuel economy was awful...at 8 mpg on highway. It was finally remedied after 3 dealer visits to repair. Sliding doors intermittently fail. ABS sensors routinely came on. Vehicle dies at random when driving (a HUGE safety concern). Heated seats failed and took forever to repair (dealer had to get a book from Corp. to repair), AC comes on automatically. Exhorist needed, not a mechanic. It''s unfortunate. The van was nice, but ran into too many problems and doubts it''s performance. Even the dealer recommended arbitration. Chrysler has taken the vehicle back. We''re moving on. Toyota SUV''s are looking good to us at this point Similar Products Used: Taurus cars (4), Merc Villager |

Strength:
Very comfortable. Luxurious appointments (for a mini-van). Surprisingly great acceleration power.
Weakness:
My van has had more mechanical issues than expected. I''m not sure if this is a trend for this model of simply my bad luck. Torque converter soleniod circuit failed at 8000 miles. Dealer says it''s an electrical issue. Great, just what I wanted, a $40,000 vehicle with an electrical problem. Dealer wants a day to work on it. One of the auto sliding doors malfunctioned at 6000 miles. It bounces open unless you manually open the front door first. So much for being automatic. It appears that the rubber gasket is bumping the front door edge. Dealer says they need a day to work on it - something about realigning it. What I would change: The middle third seat does not have a shoulder harness, only a lap belt. I looked into installing one and learned that it isn''t possible. Why would Chrysler leave this out? The kids fight for the middle seat because it has a view out the front window. FYI, hold onto your keys!! I just paid $174 for two new keys and fobs. Ouch! On a positive note, the ride is smooth and comfortable. The car is remarkably quick to respond. Great traction in snow. Remote audio controls are conveniently located at your fingertips on the steering wheel. I love (and miss!) being able to remotely open and close the doors. With two still in strollers I''m in and out of all the doors every time we arrive or depart. I hated to leave the comfort of a sedan but needed the space to accommodate a larger family. I''m overall pleased with the T&C Ltd. and am hopeful that the two mechanical problems I have with mine will be repaired and forgotten. My overall rating of 3 is conservative and reflects my concern about mechanical issues. Without these issues I would rate it 5 stars. Similar Products Used: None. Smooth ride, nice infinity sound system, very reliable.
Weakness:
Very expensive brakes and pads, that wares out very easy...And Ghost wipers that come on when they want. When we first considered the T&C when went to multiple sites reviewing consumer reviews. But we noticed the same complaint in all minivans was the transmission. So we decided to give the T&C a try so we did. We went to an auction and bought it straight out $6200 with 120,000 miles. Overall it was a good ride, nice and smooth. This pass December I was in an accident, and me and my 7 months old son was able to walk away from the accident. So now I''m in the process of getting another T&C.I had the van over all about 4 months and with my many ventures I have never had a problem other than basic maitenance. Nice styling inside and out. Good accelation and complete amentities
Weakness:
Quality! I was very happy short term and I''m extremely unhappy long term. I''ve always owned foreign cars and been extremely pleased with their quaility. All have been good investments (car wise) for me. In 1996 I decided to give an American car a chance as I finally liked the styling of the Chrysler vans and figured I give them a chance to win my loyalty. I seriously doubt that I''d buy American car again and definitely won''t buy a Chrylser. The van was fine for about 2 1/2 years. Since then, I''ve done nothing but pump money into it. From new power lock motors to a new transmission this car has been a huge money drain. If you buy this van, either sell before warranty runs out or get the extended warranty. Personally, I refuse to offer my hard earned money again to a company that produces such poor quality. I''d been looking at Honda vans and now my Chrysler giving me more transmission and engine problems. Honda, Here I come! Similar Products Used: Toyota Previa |

Powerfull engine, large room and cargo space, great performance. comfort. reliability,
Weakness:
Have had the van now for about 6 months, and 10 000 miles, no real complaints so far. We bought our T&C new last summer, after driving Honda Odyssey for a year. Honda was really nice van till it caught on fire due to fuel leak.(luckily I was driving alone without the kids). Bact to T&C, Acceleration is good, plenty of power even when towing 2000# trailers. The engine is smooth. The ride is almost car like and road handling is great for a minivan. Similar Products Used: Honda Odyssey - dangerous |

Strength:
Strong engine - great power and performance. Smooth & comfy ride. Great seating and interior equipment. Plush and lush with full leather and power interior. Great Infinity stereo - can blow away those little "rice rockets" with their "bumpity-bump" stereos. Dual A/C helps cool the cavernous interior down on hot days. Good visibility - but I recommend adding some mini mirrors to the std. door mirros for extra viewing. Factory tow package allows it to pull most anything. ABS works great! Many maintenance and repair issues CAN be handled by me/you with patience and SOME mechanical ability.
Weakness:
Yeah, we all know about the A604/41TE transmission woes. It''s a fact of life, as most garages and tune up shops (and even an owner or 2 do not use the PROPER transmission fluid. With regular maintenance, no problems. Paint issues - but it''s ALL mfgs from the early & mid 90s. The serpentine belt tensioner problem that most notice - the constant squeeking. Cost of repairs and maintenance can be high, depending on where you go. My family has had Chryslers, Dodges and Plymouths since the early 80''s. When I needed a 2nd car (my 1986 Dodge convert needed some rebuilding & restoration), I flew to Vegas to visit mom and went car shopping. I was expecting to get a used Spirit, Acclaim, LeBaron or one of the LH models (Intrepid, Concorde, New Yorker). Looked through the papers and saw a 1997 Caravan Sport for a low ball price (about 8 grand). Looked at it - not worth it. Was about to walk off the lot and the salesman remembered another van on the lot - my "Woodie" - 1994 T&C AWD with the vinyl wood siding. My mom currently drives a 1994 T&C FWD bought new at Desert Chrysler in Vegas, so we know the vehicles. Took a drive - noting oly minor problems & wear & tear. Cut a deal and drover him home. The AWD models are great to have (but rare in Southern California), especially when it rains or on road trips. Have had the typical problems associated with the vehicle - see below, but also have much praise. Woodie currently has just over 100K miles and is still going pretty well. I love my T&C! Also, managed a rental car facility, and had my choice of vehicles - including other Chrysler minivans and cars - coupes & sedans. A pal had a Dodge |

Weakness:
expensive to repair, should not have these kinds of repairs in car this young I love my van. Very roomy. I bought it 2 years old with only 23,000 miles. Now has 127,000. Started falling apart 2 months after I got it. Little by litte the electical system... Both front doors are craked at the hinges causing the doors to sag and not line up properly to close. The side sliding door has fallen off at the rear hinge and now won''t close. In addition to normal changing of plugs, wires, brakes... I have chaned water pump, fuel pump, alternator, motor mounts THREE times. I don''t believe the doors should be falling off a 6 years old vehicle. But it is good on mileage and has traveled us many places and moved much stuff. Similar Products Used: Dodge Tradesman B200 |

Interior size is the best of any passenger van. A/C will cool off the interior rapidly even on the hotest days (when it''s working). Engine has enough power to adequately play in traffic on freeways.
Weakness:
Very poor quality control. Poor dealer service. Poor warranty coverage. Never ending problems with this vehicle. Windshield wipers and alarm system come on intermittenly and without warning. Can''t open rear hatch with key without setting off alarm. Requires multiple keyed attempts (5 or 6 times) to open passenger doors. Front seats failed and fell backwards. Windsheld washer system failed. Transmission failed at 75K miles. Similar Products Used: I have a 1989 Buick and a 1990 Oldsmobile (both with more than 100k miles) and have never had the number or magnitude of problems I have had with this chrysler. |

Weakness:
MPG, Shift without braking! Well....Overall it''s a pretty good van. Hits pretty hard on MPG but its nice. We had everything put in it except for the 3.8l and leather interier. We had a problem when my wife was Driving it and the car totally shut off on her on her way home. The mechanics took a week and a half before they could find out what went wrong with it. Since then we haven''t had any problems. The sound system is awesome in it (the 10 Infinity speakers) and very roomy. The price was definetely worth it but the scandal of the shift without pressing the brake in was pretty big...which is a concern of mine because I have a 5 year old son that knows how to start a car. I would definetly go with a T&C for our next family car. Similar Products Used: 1997 Plymouth Voyager |
