Strength:
The dealer remains very supportive. Chrysler wants nothing to do with it.
Weakness:
I'm thinking an exorcism needs to be performed on this van. Will not buy another one. I've only had it since January 2002 and I'm completely disgusted. Hmmm...this is my second review. See May 23. I'm getting rid of this van. It's been in the shop 15 times since I got it - mostly for the doors and most recently the clockspring snapped (two days in shop last week) and then two days after getting it back the fix for the recall on the airconditioning compressor failed and it's been in the shop ever since. Strength:
Reliable and roomy enough.
Weakness:
None really. Very satisfied. Bought new almost 5 yrs ago. Have 55,000 mi. No problems except just installed a new starter. Very reliable. Very good ride. Original Michelins lasted about 50k. 3.8 is more than adequate. 17 mpg overall but 23 on long trips. Used to get 26 on long trips. Been using expensive synthetic oil last 4 years. Strength:
Strong engine. AM/FM radio, tape player, and CD player. Smooth ride. Plenty of room.
Weakness:
Uncomfortable sleeping in the passager seat. Brakes not as sensitive as I would like. Paint chips easily. Not easy to see behind when backing up at night (backup lights are not good). I love this van. It is so comfortable to drive and handles great. We recently drove the van to Florida (16-20 hours driving time). Seven people with luggage fit comfortably in the van. I like the duel thermostates for the driver and passanger. At first, the tires were slick on wet roads, but now it has a better grip on wet roads. |

Strength:
It's big enough to seat my whole family, but then again so is my dining room table and I didn't pay 17500 for it. At this point the only thing either is good for is to sit at.
Weakness:
Read above, I'm too disgusted to write further. I bought my van in November 2001. I had recently had another child and wanted something that could accomodate my family of 5. Since I've owned the van (less than 10 months) the air conditioner compressor has had to be replaced - thank God this was covered under warranty (the van only had 35000 miles on it at this point, bought it with 23000 miles). The most recent and scary problem I've had with it is the transmission just went out and is in for replacement now. The van only has 38000 miles on it and the transmission is having to be replaced. Unfortunately, it is not under warranty and it's going to cost us an arm and a leg this time. After reading these reviews, which I should've done before purchasing the van, it appears to me that the only way someone can own one of these vehicles without going bankrupt is to purchase the extended warranty. What was Chrysler thinking putting a van like this out there? Most people who purchase this van are hard working individuals with families just like myself and cannot afford to replace a transmission every year in order to have a vehicle that runs and will be big enough to carry their families. If you are reading this review and considering purchasing a town and country, PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS VAN, unless you are prepared to be stranded on the roadway within a year and are prepared to spend out between 2500 - 3000 on the transmission, which from reading the other reviews you will see that in all probability you will most likely have to replace again and again. Since it is too late for me and I am "stuck" with this vehicle until I pay on it long enough to trade it in, my only recourse is to continue paying on it until the time comes to trade it, and then I will trade it in and run like hell! I will never ever buy another Chrysler product. Strength:
great space, usability, and styling really good acceleration for a minivan
Weakness:
gas mileage isnt the greatest(but hey i have a lead foot), and when you stop and think that you payed 6,ooo more than the jaguar x-type is you have to wonder wether is was a wise investment. I love my Town& Countrie's luxuries and options, although at this prce they were standard. The power doors and tailgate have proved so beneficial i'm wondering why other cpompanies arenyt competing. Maybe its because they know that noone can compete with Chrysler. Similar Products Used: Plymouth Voyager, Chrysler LHS |

Strength:
Pretty vehicle, for a van. Quiet engine (until it started missing and giving a bumpy ride).
Weakness:
Hesitancy on acceleration; moisture constantly under the front passenger carpeting; engine misses; bumpy ride (even on smooth roads); lousy customer care at Chrysler dealers This van has been in for repair 10-12 times since purchase. It has been in for water under the front passenger carpet at least 7 times (and still is not repaired). It has now begun to run rough, as though on a bumpy road--they obviously can't repair that either, though it's been in 3 times for that. It hesitates on acceleration now (can't repair that either, evidently). HOW WE WISH WE HAD BOUGHT A HONDA ODDYSSEY! DON'T BUY A CHYSLER PRODUCT! Similar Products Used: No vans before this--have driven Toyotas and Buicks and Fords--ALL ARE BETTER THAN CHRYSLERS!!! |

Strength:
Built-in TV/VCR has come in handy on family trips. Power door and liftgate are nice.
Weakness:
Middle seats don't slide forward and backward. Fuel economy is not the best. I've had a T&C LX for two months and 4900 miles. There have been no problems so far - it is roomy, comfortable, and fun to drive. Granted it is still too soon to tell, but so far I've been very pleased with it.
