love the car. draws the ladies, kicks all cars ass', loud as hell, great system 10 sound. i bought it with rockford subs in the doors. pumps the sh*t out of the car. durable, i feel safe in it. turbo is loud and the car withstands top speed (138 mph) so far.

Model Reviewed: celica GT-S

Strength:

Design is unique, speed / torque are great, beat Si's all day long.. even a good friend with a NOS Si, pulled on him then his 75 shot of NOS kicked in and he passed me slowly... he admitted he had no idea top end was so high in my car. Braking is great! Through a $200 air intake *noodle style* on it and it has a mean growl. Another friend with a gt-s has intake / exhaust, he dyno'd his car and got 175 HP to the wheels!!! that's great! considering the GT-S only has an 11% loss in HP to the wheels compared to an Si which is 15% loss *with only 160HP to boot!*
Believe me, you need to test drive one, and then test drive an Si / prelude etc... you will be hooked and will really appreciate the GTS

Weakness:

Do NOT buy a gt-s made PRIOR to FEbruary of 2000!!! Check the inside of the door for manufacture date!!! Mine was made in Nov of 99 and the gear shifter springs SUCK - replaced under warranty for stiffer shifter springs, headlight casing issues - leaked, had them replaced at 8,000 miles... other than that, no engine complaints, interior all still functioning great with no problems at 22K miles.
If you have any questions email me at mbecker_fhc@hotmail.com, I'll gladly tell you anything you want to know about the gts. Not to mention the fact that my car is for sale if you're interested .. hehe :)

The car now has 22K miles on it and has really held up. The interior is that of a sports car, can fit 4 but you wouldn't want to fit more than 2but you wouldn't want to. I'm 5'9 and fit very comfy. The car has great pick up and the torque is pretty good. My boyfriend has a 99 civic Si so i can safely say i've driven both cars very very hard. If you are reading this you obviously are interested in the car, I would definitely recommend it, at least test drive a 6-speed GT-S before you decide for sure... a friend bought a used Si and then drove my car, and now he wished he bough a gt-s... VERY noticable difference in get up and go. Also, a superior advantage that only an si and gts owner would be able to note easily is the civic si pedals are cable pulled... meaning when you press down on the gas the car jerks a little.. believe me it's annoying as anything when you are tryin to sip a drink or anything!!! The advantage of the gt-s ove this is the gt-s pedals are all hydrolic... VERY smooth when pressing the gas ever so lightly. Braking is superior! I will never own a car with brake drums again after driving 4 wheel discs!

Strength:

*Handling
*Brakes
*Styling

Weakness:

*Engine
**way too weak for 180HP
**too noisy
Transmition
3rd to 4rt does not shift properly
in the demo 6th gear did NOT engage at ALL!!!
*Shaky @>= 90MPH guess due to lighter weight than what i am used to (Prelude 95VTEC)

The demo i drove felt very unsophisticated and unrefined... Not worth the price i felt... Engine lacks torque!!! A bit unresponsive (engine). I guess a cool looking car but not for those who like sporty performance. Very disappointed about the quality, engine and transmittion

Strength:

Wonderful Car. Fast, Great Looking, and a wonderful candidate for modification.

Weakness:

Plastic Interior and lack of color choices for leater seating. (I changed my seats and added the complete wood trim to get rid of the awful grey.)

Overall this is a great little car. Pleanty of power and looks to last a long time. I've added a few TRD performance parts which drastically imporve performance.

Very fast (does be a prelude by the way)
cool design
turns alot of heads
smooth as silk

Weakness:

it doesnt make me breakfast

The Celica is very fast for a normal aspiration 4cyl. Magazines tested the celica at 15.2 quartermile and 6.6 0-60, and is even more fantastic when you find out that they do not redline the car and if you own one you know that you have to go 400rpm's over the redline to stay in the cams. Quarter mile now dropes to possible 14's. Highly recommend this car.

-It's slow.
-Even the GT-S 2.2L is slow.
-I've lost every street race I've ever entered.
-It's slow.
-NEED NOS.. or something.
- ((( get the new celica's (2000 or 2001) they're much better.
Don't get an older celica unless you're gonna mod it for looks.
- Hard to find clear lights for the celica.

Check out my car at: http://www.crazyjew.net/car

It looks way faster than it is. I ran like 17 seconds in 1/4 *lol* I think my dad's caravan can beat me in a race. Wanna make this car go faster? don't race it with stock engine.

Strength:

It is a nice little 5 speed manual and is pretty sporty. Its great on gas and is the definition of a die hard car. This car can with stand anything. It got hit by a city bus and is still kicking. Runs great just needs some body work. Definatly die hard!

Weakness:

Not the greatist handling

I love this car and Im sure it will keep on going for many more fast experiances. It is really reliable and can go a lot faster than most think. And it can burn out really good.

Looks super, chicks love it. Best looking car for the year/money. Handling is perfect, fat tires geat interior, durable body. PUMPS the 1990 Civics.

Weakness:

SLLLLOOOOOWWWWW! My car is very very slow. Its 5 speed and yes I do know how to drive it. Also my head gasget is craked but it has 218000km on it (dont know what that is in miles.) Hard to find aftermarket stuff. Do yourself and buy the 1991, new air system, you can buy a K&N or ICEMAN intake. Trsut me, it need all the extra power you can give it.

i love this car moslty, but must sell it because of engine problems. Not good for your pride if you want to race anything, but great looking. Good for picking up chicks, but do youself a favour and dont race anyone when you are with them!

Looks! Awesome handling. Good wheels. Good speakers for stock.

Weakness:

Power. The wide tires are not good in winter. I had to get snow tires for it so I wouldn't spin out. Radio, it's just a stock toyota one.

The car is great and it looks good. It has ok speed for a 4 cylinder 2.2 liter car. The Celica is very reliable and it won't give you any really bad problems. The only half way major thing I had to replace was the clutch. Other than ordinary matinance things it's fine. Good first car. If you want an easy car to drive that has some power, good looks, and is relaible, this is it.
