Strength:

Styling Level of equipment Comfort Stereo Climate control

Weakness:

A bit revvy rear view

Got the leather, climate control & leccy sunnie fitted anddrove a hard bargain with the dealer. It drives very well and cruises quietly on the ton which I was quite surprised about. The UK spec has the 140bhp engine 6 speeed manual vented disc fronts and solid disc rears and Sony CR/RDS/Cassette 16" 5 spokes leecy windows central locking. I am looking to see what aftermarket parts are available but can only find US sites. US cars are very different...So far 1000moiles have returned 34mpg. Considering I have an 11 mile traffic jam commute and most of its time has been spent in traffic jams - this is excellent!!! I find it a bit breathless and feel I have to rev it a bit hard to get moving but it is comfortable and capable.

Strength:

Body curve simple but the curves provide beautiful shadow casting on car body. You must be artistic enough to see the beauty in it. Others good things are mentioned in other owners'' comments.

Weakness:

Lack of Torque. Insufficient headroom space. Rev happy.

My Celica is a GTS VVTL-I auto. Considered to be one of the best amongst the other same horsepower car available in market. Excellence handling. The Sport shift gear did not perform better than in auto mode in term of pick-up. Smooth on slow driving and excellent at high speed. Braking is good.

Strength:

The car has great power and great looks. The interior is awesome!

Weakness:

I didn''t think it drove to smoothly. It seems to also be a little on the loud side when idoling. But again that could be some side effect from the problem I am having.

When purchasing I was extremely excited to be driving a brand new sports car. I bought this car a few months after it came out and boy did I get a lot of looks. I liked the power of my 6 speed manual transmission but my attitude soon changed. I have had this car for about 19 months. I rarely drive it and when I do I don''t go far there is 14,500 miles on it and at 12,000 miles is when things started to go wrong. When turning on my vehcile in the mornings I noticed a loud squeak. Right away I took the car in. So far my car has been looked at 5 times for the same problem. On my first visit they tightend the belts, the second they replaced the tensioner, the third the water pump, the fourth the belt, and the fifth time they did nothing. What do they unhelpful people at toyota have to say? It''s a defect, that all cars of this model and year make that noise and until there is a recal then there is nothing they can do about it. So they sent me home with an open case and a broken car. My noise maker now sits in front of my house. It''s been 3 weeks and still no word from Toyota. I although, am no fool. I got a lawer and am filing for lemon law. Toyota has 30 days to respond to the claim and as of today it has been 13..still no word. I still love the look of this car but from the time I bought it too many people have also bought it. I purchased this car to be original and to have a car that not many other people had ie. the civic the integra. When I recieve the settlement I will not be buyin another Toyota, at this time I am not ready for another problem car.

Strength:

Stunning looks. Build quality. Fuel economy. Very good stereo system. Not as common a sight as other coupes.

Weakness:

Rear view. Material on back seat (Vinyl and different colour from front seats). Back seat little mopre than a parcel shelf

I bought this car mainly because of its looks and interior, I had the options of leather interior, elect sunroof and sports pack (rear spoiler and 17" alloys) fitted. It has to be said it looks faster than it actually is but it''s not too slow and drives and handles exceptionally well. Another bonus is the fuel consumption, which is imporant with UK petrol prices the rip off they are.

Strength:

Interorier design and the head design is excellant. Stereo is good too probably because of a small cockpit volume. Performance is good.

Weakness:

"fatty" from side and rear.( an action package might change that). Rear seat only for childen. Could get pretty hot in the back seat when driving in Californias sunshine since the air conditioning in not strong enough. head room is limited for tall people.

Good looking car from the front. A little bit "fatty" from side and rear. Should have selected GTS model for more power. The cockpit looks sharp. performance is good. Overall, it''s a nice small car. I am glad I choose it instead of Honda civic and Mitsubishi Ecllipse.

Ever since I saw the Celica, I knew I had to get it. It is a great alternative for the Integras and Civics most people have. The 1.8 liter VVTL-i 180hp 6-speed manual made it fun to drive. It has a different bold look compared to the cars in its class. I think it is a good rival to the Integra and RSX. It is a great car to buy. Especially if you want to invest on after market products for it, but finding parts is a bit of a challenge. It takes a lot of patience since the car is still new. And the parts out of the Celica are expensive.

Model Reviewed: /Celica All-trac Turbo

Strength:

Acceleration and vehicle control capabilties in wet/snow conditions. Adhesion and neutral steering in dry conditions - none of the front wheel hop, torquesteer or understeer found on front wheel drive performance cars. Car feels so planted it seems glued to the road. Easily tunable for more performance if desired. Several simple inexpensive modifications will take car from 200hp to 225hp without increasing boost. Bumping turbo boost will easily push that figure into the 240-260 range. Very rare car. Comfortable seats w/good side support. Excellent reliability. Strong brakes. Wonderful ergonomics. Fine sound system. Many features/advantages in this car that aren''t found in current model Celica- such as 4wd, 200hp turbocharged engine, "System 10" soundsytem, more interior space, and no major blindspots. Weight of car makes it feel substantial as a used car.

Weakness:

Clutch replacement very expensive vs. rwd cars. Early generation ABS very subpar when compared to current Toyotas. A little too much body roll when you push hard. Shifter throws too long (easily modified). Parts are very expensive. Weight of the car. (Reduces acceleration) In stock form, not as fast as the talon/eclipse turbos, but 4wd system and reliability are far superior than theirs. Much more attention to fit/finish than in American pony cars, but way less torque and slower acceleration numbers (when in stock form that is). 215 tires too small for flared body package. (Looks much better w/225''s)

Beautiful car in all regards. Stylish bodyshape still looks modern and large hood scoop turn lots of heads, especially those of late model Celica owners. Interior also looks very modern. Reliability has been typically Toyota strong. Performance is quite respectable, even by today''s standards, especially the 4wd handling. Once you''ve had an all-wheel-drive sports car you''ll never go back. The best Celica Toyota ever built, period. I wouldn''t trade my used ''90 model for a brand new GTS. I would trade for a new WRX however, since I must admit, that sucker really hums & handles, besides I could use a 4-door. Too bad the darn thing''s so ugly.

slow take off(i got automatic, remember) blind spots cheap plastic interior

The car is definitely a head tuner. i drove it extra slow when i first got it. the power kicks in twice, one at around 3000rpms and another at 7000rpms. i haven''t won too many quarter mile races. i lost one to my friend integra. mainly cuz his is manual and i got an auto. it kick some serious ass on the highway though. i beaten integras, 300ZX, civics, accord vtec, and few domestic that i cant remember, but who can. i decided to trade my gts auto for the 6-speed. i''m anticipating a race from acura''s new rsx. handling is superb with no drifting whatsoever. the brakes are the best in the business for a stock car. good comfort for small people. the plastic is cheap, scratch easily, go for carbon fiber
