Strength:
Tight handling / gas mileage / quality
Weakness:
Yes its small / vision through the back / low end torque For the money you get a quality built lightweight (yes lots of plastic) very fuel efficient car. You have to wind it up for some power, but the weight to horsepower is great. No cars from factory are good for racing, they just pretend, but this gives you a pretty good feel. I got a stripped version, and for 17200 I have Toyota quality, great MPG, and a little fun. To alter factory designs (suspension/wheels etc)is idiotic for any car, and especially this one. Its well built, and a very good value. If you want to be thrown back in the seat then buy a V-8 mustang/camaro. Similar Products Used: Mits Eclipse is faster but not even close to quality, and my expieriences with the eclipse yielded a decent amount of headaches. Maz Miata is same quality but even slower than celica. |

Strength:
Handles like no other, I can take hairpin turns at almost 45MPH with no fishtail. Dont mess with either model from 15-40MPH, the VVTi(L) will rip through the road. Kick butt sound system, everybody asks if I have subs in the trunk.
Weakness:
Rattles a bit, seat belt scratches the plastic, blind spots, but hey, no car is perfect. Great overall sports car, very advanced technology for the money, a lot more reliable than a mustang or eclipse, good power even in the GT model Similar Products Used: Never driven any other car, dont plan on it either, this was my firat and will be my last and only car I will ever buy (unless the supra's come back). It will eat up all your stock eclipse's. |

Strength:
Front veiw of the car
Weakness:
If you look at the car from the side i personally think it looks like a peice of crap Ok to start.. My 1991 Celica ST handles great and the looks bring the ladies. The acceleration is decent with the 5speed tranny, but dont recommend getting an auto..(slowness). The interior is great accept for the plastic on the glove box with is pretty big. Right at shoe heigth can make some noticable scractches. You def. need mods to bring out the performance in the car. My stock Celica ST in a race compared to a 2000 Rodeo in acceleration to about 60. The Rodeo had exhuast i would like to add. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic light mods |

Strength:
Looks, totally awesome and smooth, Great Gas Millage, Turns peoples heads specially if modded in any way, Holds it's value extremely well, after many years you can still sell it for a great amount of money, Toyota Quality, Dependable and Durable keeps on going, little maintance needed, cruises smooth
Weakness:
It is slower then i'd like it, Stock GT is only 135 HP, Interior lights sometimes don't come on when door is opened must be an electrical problem somewhere, with 15" wheels sometimes it rolls a little too much into turns and sometimes feels like i'm floating off the road when switching lanes at higher speeds, i suspect bigger rims and perhaps some lowering would make it handle even better Definatly want to mod it, it's OK stock but it can be so much more with some tweaking. You'd want to start with performance mods Cold Air Intake, Exhaust, Filter, Rims and Wheels that will get you going pretty well. The car rides like a dream. I bought mine in Sept. 2000 for $6,500 and it had 130,000 miles but it doesn't look or feel like it has 130,000 miles. In fact it only Feels like it's maybe 1 year old!!!!!! Now THAT'S some great quality! I would definatly buy more celica's, i'd love to own an '89 model and then a '99 model and of course the new 2000's model. There's no reason not to own a celica, they are sort of a uniqueness, sure everyonen's got a Civic or a Honda or a Mustang, but I'd prefer something now everyone has, a Celica, it's unique :) Similar Products Used: My previous car was a Hyundai Excel so this was a huge upgrade to that and 1000x better. I've drivin a Miata, a 93 Eclipse and a 92 Prelude, the Celica is much more stylish then any of those and faster then them as well for sure. |

Strength:
Lots of leg room in the front (I'm 6.2). Great gas mileage and and absolulty great looking car and comfortable.
Weakness:
Blind spot, no power antenna, Could use a lower front grill. Well I've had the car for 3 weeks now and I love it! Everywhere I go people stop and ask me al kinds of questions about it. Looks great and is a very quick car. It's not for drag racing but when you step on the gas you can move. Corners are no problem as this car hugs the turns like it's on rails. Mine's Carbon Blue which looks black at night and looks blue when the sun hits it. I was going to get red but the car is already a cop magnet. The best thing is that Toyota's are very reliable and you won't be visting the dealer that much if at all. The car is so unique looking also. I love driving again!!! Similar Products Used: I test drove a 2001 Civic and a 2001 Mustang, but the sales people turned me off |

Celica GT - Black Sedan
Strength:
Transmission takes a beating, quick response clutch, nice curves (needs struts replaced but still corners like a hawk) Rust not a problem. Still get compliments. When I am at the parts store, usually people walk up to me to tell about a part car for sale in less then OK condition. Interior is in great condition, almost excellent. The Room in the care is unbelievable.
Weakness:
Engines are not great with oil I purchased my '86 gt for 1,200 and became the third owner. This is my second celica (first was '81 gt hatchback). I love these cars, but it seems they tend to eat/leak oil. The oil is normal for a car this age, so I don't mind. The sunroof seal leaks is from age, so again i'm not worrired. I bought it with 128,000 and currently have 163,000. I abuse the 5-speed, and the clutch seems to holding (not sure if it is still original or what???) The trunk on the sedans seem to bend by the hindge and stops being level, unless pushed downed. The engine heats up after long trips ( 1 1/2hr) might be the oil sender??). Similar Products Used: Prelude, I had a 84 prelude. The only thing that i say is that Toyota makes a car that is tough, but Honda makes a car that is more precise. Yet I hard drive so, the prelude was totalled and I've had this car for 3 years and the cost of $2000 total (tires and breaks) I an very happy. |

Celica ST
Strength:
Very dependable and reliable. Lasts forever.
Weakness:
Aftermarket parts and accessories are very hard to find (they don't make an aftermarket A/C unit for this car). Body kits are rare, etc. As far as the car itself, it doesn't have a weakness, unless it's the low horsepower engine and low max speed. Reliability is unbeatable - I bought my car with 64K miles, it now has 85K, and haven't even been to a mechanic (though one of the dash lights has gone out and the engine revs high when it's cold, but it returns to normal within a few minutes). I love Toyotas for their reliable, dependable reputation, and I haven't been dissappointed in my car. The ST model has only a 1.8L 4 cylinder, and it's a tad gutless for my taste; it tops out at just over 100 mph, and by that time, it's revving pretty high. If you're looking for performance or a quick ride, go with a GT. All in all, an excellent car, and they're gonna last forever. Resale value is very high, even with 100K+ miles. Sweet car. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic - the Celica doesn't quite keep up with my brother's car, even though it's almost the same size engine. Like I've said, the performance on the ST is a tad dissappointing. |
