Strength:

Styling, stereo/cd/tape player, gauges

Weakness:

Placement of shifter and cup holders, weatherstripping around driver's door is coming loose, carpet/seat covers seem to be cheap.

Great car, with some minor blemishes. Although its not the GT-S, the engine is sufficient for getting around...plus who wants to pay the extra insurance? Anyone found a set of headlight covers? Email me....

Strength:

With 17" wheels this thing will tear you head off. The handeling is very impressive. It handles well when drifting. Unbeliebable incontrol at high speeds in snow. (with studed tires on 15 wheels)

Weakness:

Too slow. Interior scratches easily. Seatbelts don't wind back up sometimes. Interior lights don't work sometimes. Head lights seem to kindof blink sometimes.

Great car. 130 thousand miles still running great. Hard to find aftermarket products to beef it up. But spend the extra cash and get the GT-S. You'll be sorry if you don't. I am.

Strength:

Great sports coupe that handles well and turns heads with the avant-garde styling. Brakes very well and turn-in is very good.

Weakness:

Reverse, 1st and 3rd are too close to each other. 2nd gear is ridiculously tall. Doesn't turn-in as well as an ITR. Isn't as quick as an ITR and gets EATEN at road race courses and autocrosses by ITRs. The struts up-front need more negative camber, but that decreases traction. It also lacks a limited slip differential like the damned ITR. It's too hard to keep the engine above 6,000 rpm - I have to go beyond the indicated redline. Shift gates SUCK on tight tracks and car breaks traction easily [LSD again] coming out of tight corners where the [dare I say it?] ITRs keep a tight line and put the power down... Did I say it needed a helical LSD?

Nice car until compared directly to the ITR which is a wonderful FWD sports car [even though it's looks aren't that great]. I bought the car to open track day and autocross and it just doesn't do it. There are four ITRs in the immediate area and I've driven them at Waterford Hills, Gratten and Gingerman Raceway and it IS the cat's arse for that type of thing. I am now disappointed. I believe that the Celica is a better everyday car, though.

2000 Integra Type R AFTER I purchsed my car. What a mistake that was. The ITR is quicker, corners harder and is much better on an autocross or open track day event. Oh, well...

Strength:

I've put about 25k miles on this car, and I've owned it for less than a year (still stock, but not for long). So far, its been a great ride. I love the speed, looks, VVTL-i, and most of all, the 6 speed. This car is pretty damn fast, and i've killed a couple cars (older model prelude w/ mods), integra gs-r's (w/ mods). The car needs a little practice to keep the powerband in vvtl-i, but it can be mastered. Haven't had a chance to play w/ a real tegra. (soon). VVTL-i rocks, when it kicks in, you can *really* feel the power. About the 6-speed, its great, and one of the major reasons for purchasing this particular car. (other than it wasn't a honda). The interior is very comfy, and very well designed. Oh, forgot to mention the suspension. Bone stock suspension, kicks ass. Taking the twisties has never been easier. Last, not a Honda. (No flame, just didn't want one).

Weakness:

I'd say the car is not very forgiving to those who aren't used to the 6 spd. You can (if not paying attention) drop it into 2nd gear, from 5th (ouch).

i hate the fact that the car beeps when in reverse, although it is for safety, it can be removed (soldering req'd)... :)

Overall, I love the car. Everything I dislike about the car, I've fixed. Not a problem. (beep-beep-beep ARGH!)

If you are someone who is tired to death of looking at honda's, but love racing, the GT-S is definitely the car to buy. If you are looking for a car that has great handling ability, power, and is unique look no further.

The car has been very fun to drive, and until recently hasn't had any problems what so ever. (25k miles, < 1 year). The problem with the car (clutch) has more to do with the way I drive than the quality of the product. Wear your seatbelt in turns, it can cause you to mis-shift, and potentially blow your engine. Read: 5th to 2nd is not good for tranny/engine.

Cost vs Value? Every cent was worth what I got.

To Honda lovers everywhere, don't hate. My cousin has a hybrid 97 civic w/ 97 prelude engine. Fast, very fast, but can't handle the twisties (very good). No need for flame/hate, just drive.

-Very Happy Dude.

Test drove a Golf VR6, tranny on Celica totally blew Golf away. Golf has good power/torque/handling as well, but celica was hands down better. Didn't drive a Honda, didn't want one. (No flame, I just don't)

Handles great at high speeds 70mph-80mph. Good gas milege. Like the auto shift option.

Weakness:

No rear seats, no power antenna,

I had this for about 6 months it's a excellent car for the price. Get a lot of stares maybe because it's Absolutly Red. Celeica GTS has excellent stock stereo. Like the orange interior lights. I hit 100mph and this car wanted to faster.

I have no complaints on the Celica... but if i have to pick one, i'll just go with what everyone else is saying... the blindspot

I've had my Celica since September and I have no regrets with it so far.

I have driven my celica for about a year and a half. The only things i have had to return to the dealer for where small warranty issues. (two wheel alignments, three sets of tires, and a squeeky serpentine belt)
I have owned 7 toyotas in the past 8 years (my wife & I lease) and I worked for toyota as a asst. service manager for 4 1/2 years. The product has yet to dissapoint me. i am looking forward to the performance items that will be released soon (top secret)

Nice loud turbo and is damn quick. Electric everything including seats. Nice low style with low seats. Beautiful styling, chicks dig it. The best handling. I absolutely love it.

Weakness:

Some noises enter the cabin easily, thats it. I love it!

I am very happy with the performance of this car. I have beaten many 2001 V8's, and for a 87 thats really good, and it's stock too, apart from the turbo is highflowed.

Too dang slow-man, it is slow, cheap interior, crappy seatbelts

The Celica is a good value. It has potential to be a pretty sweet looking car. Mine is super white and I added 17" white wheels, it set the car off. Lower it two inches and it looks good. Not to mention that it now handles like a sonova. I added a K&N filter, Iceman intake, and a cherry bomb exhaust for a little extra power.(it needs it) I like the car but, I need more power.

Cheap plastic!!

I hate this car!!!
I do a lot of racing, and i'm very good at it, not in this car!!!
can anyone tell me how you launch this piece of crap!!!
if it's automatic, it's hopeless, if you rev it up to 5K, and put in drive, it'll make a loud noise, it sounds like you just dropped your tranny!! really scarey!!!
Hey Toyota, do you know what torque is????
it's not fun unless it's over 6K rpm, which lasts a second, and than you're back down to 4K, anyone can beat me off the line!!!

save yourself 10 grand, and buy the older eclipse turbos!!!
