Strength:
We have a 4 cyl, and I'm glad we didn't pay extra for the V6. We have no problems with power and the gas mileage is phenomenal.
Weakness:
Our left blinker is screwy. It blinks rapidly when the headlights are on. This is just annoying; both the front and rear bulbs are functioning. We've had it "fixed" three times. This is our second Camry and we absolutely love it! We have twins and have plenty of room for all our accessories. My double stroller fits in the trunk with lots of room for extras like groceries. We've even put a third car seat in the back! Similar Products Used: 1995 Camry, 1986 Honda Civic, 1986 Toyota Celica, 1989 Dodge Colt |

XLE 4 cyl.
Strength:
Quieter and smoother ride than anything else out there including the Volvos & Lincoln LS. Amazingly roomy in cabin & trunk. Lexus feel & build quality. Very powerful for a 4 cyl.- several passengers couldn't believe it wasn't a V6. Ave. 31 - 35 MPG hwy, 27/28 MPG city.
Weakness:
Brakes are squishy (we have ABS). Wheels look cheap. Little chrome. We bought this car brand new in the fall of 2002, which is the time to get a deal. Now has 8800 miles. It's presented no quirks or strange noises. A joy to drive in the twisties, supremely comfortable on day long trips. .28 drag coefficient, cuts through the air smoothly, impervious to winds. Our 6'4" friend fits easily in the back seat. The longer we own it, the better we like it. Similar Products Used: We tested everything, owned several Volvos. |

Strength:
Overall quality Overall value
Weakness:
"Dangling" exhaust pipe Spongy brakes First Camry and it seems nice so far. My last car was a big old V8 Mercury, but the 4-cylinder Camry seems to have at least as much pep and as nice a ride. Car is very quiet in overdrive on the highway. Engine seems to whine a bit in the lower gears, especialy uphill, but perhaps this could be due to "breaking-in" the vehicle or it could "just be me." Brakes do seem a little spongy, and I'm dreading my first panic-stop. There's actually more headroom and legroom than in the Mercury, and of course the car handles a lot better. The driver's seat is comfortable enough. Fit and finish are high quality throughout. Dashboard controls are easy to use. Don't like the way the exhaust pipe angles downward as it approaches the muffler -- the gap between it and the underside of the car looks dumb, and the pipe is only five inches from the ground at its lowest point -- but all Camrys seem to have this design issue. |

Strength:
-Top-notch build quality; like a pre-Chrysler Mercedes -Roomy & quiet -Parts are plentiful
Weakness:
-Brakes -See myself coming & going This is my 2nd Camry (1st one a '89). I bought the car w/ 120k miles in 11/01; it has 175k now. The 4 cyl. (w/ 5-speed) has plenty of passing power, but is no stop-light racer. Change the oil regularly & timing belt every 70k miles and these cars will run forever. Plugs, cap & wires every 35k miles will ensure a consistent 30 mpg. Brakes work OK but are definitely a weak point (1st Camry too), which is baffling considering the high standard to which the rest of the car is built. W/ fold-down rear seat my mountain bike fits in the trunk. Hoping to see 240k miles before looking for a 2000 model. Similar Products Used: '90 Saab 900 (POS) |

Strength:
powerful car, since it's a v6 XLE.
Weakness:
I hate the head lights, they don't look clear at honda's headlights. Car bought at 35 K miles more than 5 years ago, the only thing that replaced was a timing belt since the car is 115 K miles by now, brake replaced about 4 times, and that's all, I didn't have any problems even a very small thing from this car. And I'm owning a 99, and a 96 too. |

Weakness:
*Sunroof leaks; but it did not come from manufacturer *The major weakness of this car is that everyone wants it along with myself; MINE HAS BEEN STOLEN TWICE!!!! I love my Camry but I can not go thru it being stolen again--I have to get rid of it Overall a wonderful car! I have the unique 2-door 1994 camry LE. I love the car because of course it is unusual to see a two door. The performance of camry is between good and great. The car has been very reliable with 142000 miles. I have owned it two and a half years and only have had to replace the CV Joints and a fuel filter. The only bad thing about Camry is that it is #1 most stolen car. This is a great car!!! Strength:
- 3sge engine - handles great on non stock struts - still looks decent even though its 2 gens old - roomy - i had a junkyard with most parts nearby and was able to repair that POS. else i would have salvaged it.
Weakness:
oh boy. where to start. i bought a camry because i needed a reliable vehicle for one year while i get a new one. it looked good and stuff so i bought it. 80k on the odo when i bought it. 101k now. so far: - engine loosing coolant. busted head gasket. can't repair the head is erroded too bad. change the engine. - radiator rusted. change that too - starter died 1 month later. - steering rack leaking; changed that too - brakes warped. - brakes warped again (nope not a caliper issue) - brakes warped again. went with aftermarket. stops great but - BRAKES WARPING AGAIN ONE WEEK AFTER I CHANGED THEM. this is worse than a Jeep. - flex pipe needs to be replaced - ac compressor failed. - window buttons have a mind of their own. - cv joints - left axle - both control arms - 1 strut mount - my transmission is now acting up. won't repair it. - other things i wont deal with. selling to the next fool who wants a reliable car. No matter what, people will always keep telling me 'oh it is so reliable'. right.. if they only knew the reality. i have spent over 4800$ in repairs. another 200 coming to fix the dreaded windows. irony is i probably fixed it for the next buyer so now they'll get a 'relaible' car and continue to spread the misconception toyota never makes lemons.
