Strength:

Ride and quietness, Toyota quality.

Weakness:

Needs stronger V6. The SE V6 in 2004 will inherit the powerful Solara 3.3 V6. The others will still have the 3.0.

That report on the 17th was bogus. Everybody knows the Camry is tons better than the Millenia. The ride is better, it's quieter, road noise is subdued.

Strength:

Nice smooth ride, reliable, comfortable.

Weakness:

Rear cup holders break easily. Glove compartment seems a bit small.

Outstanding vehicle! I purchased this car brand new in 1999. Had no major problems since(knock on wood). Comfortable smooth ride and reliable. Just be sure to change that oil!! I love the power seats. There are not many complaints, if any, with this car. The rear cup holders break easily and I have to say, the ABS breaking system scared me a few times. When I hit the break sometimes the car shook a little and made a strange noise for a brief second. I would buy another, but hopefully I won't have to.

Strength:

power lock/windows, comfortable seating, spacious interior and trunk, can drive well with chains in snow, pretty nice shocks, lights turn off when car turned off, good battery life, decent gas mileage (unless AC on).

Weakness:

low to the ground so you "tank" on speed bumps, etc., paint, oil problem in the engine (or should I say the "fire under the hood" problem?)

This is an older version of the Camry, but at the time it came out it was rated among the best. Over all it has been a dependable car except for its two major flaws. The first is its paint. Unlike the Subaru Loyale and Mazda truck that I've had, the paint on the Camry slowly "dissolved" away. There is no rust, just no more paint. Yes, it is old, but all the other old clunkers I've had still have better paint jobs than the camry. The second fatal flaw is its engine. For some reason my camry leaks oil. The leak is so far in the engine and in more than one place that no shop in the nearby 50 mile radius will even attempt to fix it. A new bottle of oil must be put in every 1-3 days and the car smokes whenever you drive it. It smokes so badly that I've been pulled over by cops 3 times to tell me that my car is on fire. Besides that, every where you park it oil leaks. The newly paved road in front of my house was stained completely black after only a month or two from all of the parking since it drips as you slow down. Great car over all unless you get the engine problem I've incurred (and I have heard of it from others, not just myself). Tis too bad about the engine since I really liked this car...

Strength:

An average car...good on gas

Weakness:

The paint job. The Toyota leasing company crooks.

Once I read about the numerous paint peeling problems i realized how sleazy Toyota Motor Credit Corp is. I leased this car for three years and babied it. The pin-striping literally fell off the car in a rain storm the day we drove it home. I had begun to think the kids in my neighborhood were having rocks fights around it due to the vast amount of paint chips coming off the car...Well, the lease expires and i return the car UNDER the mileage alloted. In turn T.M.C.C sends me a bill for 2500 bucks. Mostly for paint damage and i think about 700 bucks for a windshield that had stone chips in it(if i honestly thought the windshield was messed up, i would have had my insurance replace it for nothing). After many telephone battles i got the bill lowered but still paid alot of cash out of pocket. Lesson learned but be warned: DO NOT LEASE FROM TOYOTA, THEY ARE BALL-BUSTERS WHEN YOU RETURN THE CAR AND LOOK FOR LITTLE THINGS WRONG TO RING THE REGISTER.

Decent power for 4-cyl noisy engine

Weakness:

All the above

I can't believe how owners of this "nice looking car" happy with their purchase and state how beautiful this car is. First of all, the exterior of the latest Camry is extremely ugly, the cheap interior is GM-style ugly as well. I rented '03 Camry while I was on business trip and have never been so disappointed with Toyota, and could not wait until I get back home and drive my Millenia again. Noticing stiffy ride, wind and asphalt noise made me change my mind about purchasing this car when I first test-drove it at Toyota dealership. And I hated this car after I had it for a week. I owned '97 Camry for two years. The car was much nicer than the new '02 "beauty" (both interior and exterior), but had many reliability issues (struts, smoky engine at cold start, water pump failure, etc., and all that at 60K miles. I don’t know how reliable this model is, but I would never buy it simply because it is ugly (as well as new Lexus’)

Value/Comfort/Quality/Performance ratio is great. If there's a better "buy" out there in this class, I don't know what it is.

Weakness:

Haven't found any. Car only has 500 miles at this point.

I LOVE THIS CAR! Roomy, comfortable, very nice ride, and sharp looking. The re-designed 4-cylinder (157 HP) has a great amount of "snap" for a 4-cyl. Obviously very well built quality-wise. Seats are comfy, and I would love to take this car on a multi-day journey. Great sound system, too... I'm 6'1", and this car fits me like a glove. My wife is only 4'11", and she just loves to drive it too! The car has lots of considerations built in, that I'm still finding. For example, even the trunk hinges are nicely covered for protection of stored items.... NICE! I now know why Camry is the best selling car going!

Just traded in 2003 Toyota Celica for this car. It was great, and a real head-turner. But, just too small for me personally and comfort-wise.

should have better audio system for XLE.

Great car. Almost upto par with Lexus ES 300 except quietness and audio system. With My own upgrades( dynamat xtreme, speakers ), I have a much quieter car than ES300 and still costs $5000 less than ES300. What a deal.

Car seems assembled well. Relatively quiet and all functions work well. Not a bad price to purchase these. This car is a well made product that will last, so the Overall Product Rating is high.

Weakness:

4-cylinder engine is junk, v-6 has more power and same mileage. Resale value blows - car depreciates half in less than 2 years. Go for the Honda or Volkswagen - they don't sell to the rental and fleet companies. Yeah, check the resale values - Honda/Acura and Volkswagen a much better purchase. The poor resale value of this car makes this product a poor Value Rating.

A decent basic car. However, the 4-cylinder engine has no power. Don't try to rapidly merge into traffic or pass on the highway. Engine's fuel injectors a constant problem.

Acura Integra - excellent in every regard. Volkswagen Jetta TDI - not as quiet as the camry, but just as well built, more power and fun, plus 50 mpg.

Strength:

Nice smooth ride. Decent acceleration for 4 CYL. Around 25 MPG. No major problems.

Weakness:

Noisy interior. All kinds of sounds/ratles/squicks come from the dash board when it's hot. Squishy and nosy breaks (untill rotors got replaced). Most of the electric bulbs got burned out at one time or another (never happen in any other car I had). Cheap hub-caps are noisy and very anoying. First when complained to a dealer, they decided to change breaks (didn't help).

Expected more, but good overall. Nice smooth ride. All the problems I had are minor nuasance, but there were quite a number of them.

Strength:

Great reliability, good spare tire, good jack, rides smooth, not too hard to work on, good gas mileage, good stereo, good a/c, spacious for a compact sedan, all in all fun to drive

Weakness:

Steering is a little dull, hard to find aftermarket parts for, little pricy, a little more expensive to have it worked on. Alarm is a little annoying, set too sensitive.

I love my car, I bought it used in early 2002 and have had absolutely no problems with it. I just rolled over 100K miles on it, and gave it a hefty tune up, and it is running better than it was when I bought it. Of course I am running aftermarket parts on it now. Really impressed with its dependability.
