Toyota Camry GL
Strength:
Predictable drive, very quiet and smooth. Love the air-con.
Weakness:
Little under powered down in the low rev's, dosen't like the rough roads either Favourite thing about the car is the 3 Ltr V6, lots of top-end power though so you have to rev it. Very reponsive Automatic, could do with another gear for more economical 120Kph cruising. |

Camry XLE V6
Strength:
Engine, mechanics of the car. Runs smoothly and is a nice quiet ride. The XLE model is a little more sporty than the others, so I do not have that BLAH problem like others do.
Weakness:
Paint job, there is some chipping, which is very disappointing. The leather seats could be a little more comfortable in long rides. Also, the leather on the driver side door has come unstiched, but I bought it that way. The alloy wheels could also have been better, the protective plastic is chipping and not looking very bling bling. Excellent buy. Bought 2 years ago and the only problem I have had is the power steering went out last week. Other than that, changing the oil is the only maintaince done to this gem of a car. I heard that Toyota was a good car from family members and decided to buy one, and have not been disappointed. |

Strength:
Ride is wonderful, not to mention very confortable. Interior design is great. The fuel consumption is also pretty good.
Weakness:
My Camry is a 4 cyl. so the pick up speed is not too good. The new camry, 2004 model I think have improved the engine with the VVTI, so it have more power. Camry is a great car. I had it since brand new. Up til now it runs great, and I have put on about 100,070 miles. I plan to keep it til it can no longer function. My next car will also be a Camry. |

Camry XLE
Strength:
This car is surprisingly quiet, with excellent fuel economy and resonable performance. The fit and finish are more than acceptable for a car in this price range. Driver visibility is also good. This trim package provides great value for all the included features, which include climate control, rear heat/AC outlets, 6-disc CD changer, rear shade curtain, self-dimming rear-view mirror, and much more.
Weakness:
This car exhibits a strong left pull and tracks very poorly, apparently due to a deficit in the caster angle, which is non adjustable. It requires constant effort to maintain the lane of travel. This is not a car I would take on a long trip without suspension modifications. It is also an unpleasant experience to drive this car on a windy day, as it blows around more than a van. The non-existent warranty support I have experienced would make any vehicle of this manufacture a questionable choice for a new vehicle purchase. My experience with this car has been a highly disappointing. With the steering defect and non-existent warranty support, this otherwise fine car has been proven to be a poor choice. Camry (Solara) Coupe
Strength:
Good value, runs very well.
Weakness:
Poor handling; too much roll on corners. After market sway bars are a must. Non-existent warrantee support. Defective steering design keeps the car from tracking straight. Spongy brakes Pretty good value but way too many quality problems on delivery that were never fixed after repeated trips for warrantee service. On delivery: The tires and wheels were wrong for the option package that was on the car.(obviously swapped out by the dealer) Brakes were spongy (this was fixed by bleeding) Syncros clash shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear (never fixed) Clutch chatters (never fixed) Steering drifts to the left (never fixed after 8 attempts from 2 different dealers, letters to customer support and the President of Toyota North America) I have heard every imaginable excuse for this. I cannot take this car on long highway trips - the fatigue from constantly pulling the steering wheel to the right is too much to take! I even tried to have an independent alignment shop correct the problem but they reported that it has insufficient Caster and it is unadjustable. Strength:
Great value, mileage, and dependability.
Weakness:
Looks are on the regular (drab) side. This is our second Camry (1st was a 1999 LE, and was totalled in a wreck-drove it for 4 years). We LOVE IT! I was surprised by the negative reviews on your site per this car, but we have had no problems whatsoever. Our alignment issue was resolved with one visit to NTB. All we've done otherwise is regular maintenance -our 1999 Camry was at 103,000 miles problem free, and our current 2000 Camry is at 75,000, again problem free. I encourage anyone to buy one. |

Strength:
Safe, AMAZINGLY reliable, comfortable. Neither this car, nor the family 1993 Toyota 4Runner, 2000 Lexus LX470, or 2003 Lexus SC430 have given us ANY TROUBLE whatsoever. Toyotas are great cars, mechanically.
Weakness:
BBBOOOORRRIIIINNNNGGGG Unimagitive, unattractive design and the SE is the same, slow, ugly car as the LE only more expensive. This car is as bland as bland can be. It gets no attention, it isn't fast, it isn't fun to drive--as a matter of fact, it's all around mindnumbing. I'm 16 and this is the car my parents bought for me to drive. I grudingly admit that it is a very safe, reliable machine, but dear God is it ever boring. My friends, who drive Supras, Mustangs, Maximas, and other teenage-cars-of-lore, all mock me for my family sedan. Two of them have drag raced me jokingly; I have lost embarassingly both times although I laughed it off, because I knew the pathetic 4-cyllinder in that tank of a car, which is barely enough to get on the freeway, would get raped by nearly any other car. PARENTS I BEG YOU DON'T BUY THIS CAR FOR YOUR KIDS. If you are rich/kind enough to get them their own, let them chose (within reason). Yes, Camrys are reliable, trustworthy, and slow (slow=safe in parental minds), but you are only a teenager once, and you only look cool in a 1985 Toyota Supra once. Toyota Camry LE
Strength:
Safe and comfortable good-size trunk Excellent fuel economy (with poor acceleration) Superb brakes with ABS option
Weakness:
Four cylinder is under-powered especially in high-stress urban driving Dealer service Camrys are over-priced We leased a 1994 Toyota Camry LE (4 cylinder) for 3 years. We had rented this car when it first came out in 1992. The Camry was a revelation--extraordinary quality with a lot of room in a mid-size vehicle. Unfortunately, owning one was not the same experience. We were most disappointed in the dealer service of the Camry. It was expensive and they tried to load extra services on a new car just in for an oil change. They were dishonest and damaged our car when it was in for service. This was corrected when I threatened the service manager. The four cylinder Camry is under-powered when the car is full. We rented a 2000 LE and found this was still true (quality of the interior had declined since the '94 though). We had a couple of reliability problems in our 31,500 miles. What really bothered me was that there was a manufacturing defect in the car. The carpet was tan and had a 18 inch ORANGE spot under the driver's seat. This was not apparent when the seat was all the way back. When my wife drove it, you could see it. Of course, the dealer wouldn't do anything, let alone Toyota. The car was overpriced and over-rated for what it was. A V-6 was about $4000 more and may have been much better, although at quite a price. We had the very expensive ABS option (over $1000) and the brakes were exceptionally good. It also came with better tires with this option. Our 2000 rental did not have this option and was much the inferior car to the older one (not to mention being an uglier design). The Camry was pretty good in snow and superb in wet weather. Our biggest problem was that we were rear-ended three times because the car could stop in much shorter distances than most anything else. There was no damage as the rear bumper for that year was exceptionally strong. Bet that's not true anymore. Interior was comfortable with firm solid seats. Color combinations were a little strange on some of the panels. Trunk very large for this size car. Similar Products Used: Saturn L300, Impala, Taurus, Accord |

Nice looking car
Weakness:
Lousy build quality This car is very unimpressive. Windows fog up way too much. Dashboard makes loud creaking noises. Brakes are junk. Paint chips much too easily. Steering wheel made strange noise but was fixed by dealer. Plastic piece on roof came off twice and flap on trunk came unglued. Seats are very uncomfortable for someone over six feet.(Zero thigh support) Gets caught up in the wind when on the highway causing alot of side to side movement. significant body roll around turns. Also makes some nice rattling noises when in park. So much for Toyota quality. Similar Products Used: Nissan Maxima, Nissan Pathfinder, Mitsubishi Galant, Audi a6 |
