Strength:

Style, room, reliable, gas mileage, safety, handling... etc...

Weakness:

Don't find any weeknesses so far...

This is the greatest car ever, I was looking for a 5 Speed transmission and finally found it at a great price. I have always had Toyota's and so far this car is very reliable, comfortable, dependable. The gas mileage is great around 34 MPG. I bought the car in Houston and drove it to Utah, putting 1700 miles on it, without any problems, just gas and drive. The 5 Speed manual transmission gives a better feeling of being more in control and having more power. I love this car and will recommend it over any other similar car, including Honda. I won't talk about any domestic car.

Strength:

Everything.. it's so strong. It's really cute too.. a small car, pretty comfortable. Very easy to manuever through other cars, teehee.

Weakness:

The glove box light won't turn on unless I have the headlights on. Who the heck cares about that though, except stupid me! xD

This car is an amazing car. I got this car on January. 20th of 2004 from a friend. I messed it up by treating it like crap. The motor head is having a hard time holding my engine, I have no brake pads, almost no rotors, the wheel barings are going, the transmission is going, etc. etc. etc. BUT IT STILL RUNS! Very strong.. I can't believe it hasn't died yet because of my crappy handling! Just don't treat it like crap and you're all set! But if you do you shouldn't worry too much. ^___^

It's Pretty fast for a V6. Really good breaks, maybe it's because I have ABS? 4 wheel disk breaks. Has 185HP. Drives great in the rain. It's almost immpossible for the car to fishtail, so thats good. Has a great a/c when it's about 112F outside in this AZ heat.

Weakness:

I had to replace the raidiator, that was about $250.00 The coolant leaks.$60.00 Breaks $250.00 Only get about 230 miles on one full tank. To fill up it's about $30.00

This is my first car. When we bought it, had 107,000 miles on, now it has 122,000miles. Since im a teenager i've done a couple of races and beat a couple of cars for example a 2004 Mustang, 2005 Volvo S60, Lexus ES 330, and a 2005 Altima. I have a moonroof/sunroof, it stop working. It will be about $1500 to fix. Has everything crome alloy wheels, power windows, locks, mirrors, a am/fm/cd/tape player with 6 speakers and etc.

Strength:

Reliable bullet proof suspension & drive train smooth V6

Weakness:

fragile paint defective alloy wheels (clear-coat) expensive when loaded (for its class) expensive maintenance (lots of nickel & diming) surprisingly mediocre interior materials, fit and finish (albeit nothing has broken or malfunctioned yet)

Let’s see now...overall my impression of the camry is for the most part a positive one; reliable smooth mannerly v6, smooth ride, reasonably comfortable and roomy, (but not overly), fairly nimble (with aftermarket rubber), for a family hauler. It’s kind of a wash and wear permanent press vehicle..no fuss no muss. On the downside; very fragile paint, (chips galore with a copious helping of pealing clear-coat and quarter size patches of discoloration, environmental fallout? yah, right! The wheels, those beautiful alloy wheels, I’m on my second set. The first set toyota graciously replaced do to premature corrosion attributed to defective clear-coat and/or application. Now the second set is exhibiting the same symptoms. I went back to toyota, not to ask for a third set, (as if they would give them to me), but rather for just an explanation. I told them that I never kissed the curb or used caustic chemicals (sulfuric acid, my mothers secret family soup recipe), but only potions made specifically for clear-coat finishes. They couldn’t furnish an answer. Expensive maintenance; every-time I go in for an oil change, the service writer at the counter tries to strong-arm me into spending a couple hundred bucks. “You really should have....your transmission flushed, your wheels balanced, your coolant changed, your fuel injectors cleaned, your thermostatic warp coupling re-calibrated to the frequency of the plasma drive conduit before it reaches critical mass and we’re all killed”. (My God man!!) I’ve got records of the maintenance that was done as thick as a Manhattan phone book and still they want more. (My God man!!) Toyota can do this, (strong-arm you), because they hold that teetering axe over your head, (said in a german accent or should it be japanese? ), “if you don’t do every thing we tell you, exactly when we tell you, your engine will be devoured by the sludge monster and you will never see it run again...Ha, Ha, Ha!!” Other than that and the somewhat mediocre quality interior appointments, (in my humble opinion), I would give the camry 4-stars. That being said, it really is a decent car once I overlook the minor annoyances it carries with it, and I realize that it’s a mode of transportation, and neither a legendary high strung euro road rocket such as the Pork 911, Hamburgini Fra Diavolo or BMdouble-U Zzzzz 8 or 9, (whatever it takes), or a priceless museum artifact. Thanks to solid engineering and a practically bullet proof drive-train and suspension, this is probably the most reliable ride you can own at any price, except for maybe the Honda Accord.

Weakness:

noisy interior!!! Creaks and Rattles Sunroof malfuncioning

I Just bought this car in May. The first week I had it I started hearing creaking sounds from the dash in the morning (didn't hear it in the afternoons when things heated up). Also, there was a rattle in the drivers door near the handle. I took it in and they fixed the noises (3 or 4 days in the shop). Almost immediately I started to hear more rattles, creaks, and vibrations from the dash, drivers side back door, and back passenger side speaker area near the window. The sunroof was also malfunctioning from time to time. It's been in the shop now for over 2 weeks and I hope to have it back within the next few days. So far they can't get the moonroof to repeat the malfunction, so that's not fixed. They had to order a new "back dash" and that took awhile to come in. I'm very disappointed about having all these problems so soon. I was expecting a solid car. Other than those issues, I do like how the car handles and feels. It has good acceleration and hangs pretty tight on the turns. Mine has traction control, so I think that helps. I hope all my rattles will be fixed and I won't have to end up looking in to the "Lemon Law" in a few months!

Strength:

Quiet, quiet, quiet, no road noise! Room. Engine is stronger than I thought it would be. Decent, elegant but not wow! good looks. Toyota reliability!

Weakness:

A couple of creaks in the plastic mouldings around stereo and vents. Brakes are a little "soft" and "mushy" but stop on a dime.

It's a Camry. Solid, if unspectacular performance. Quiet and soft ride. The new body style (2002 and up) is alot quiter than the previous. It has decent accelaration with the new 156hp I4 engine. Roomy cabin with a huge trunk. Cant ask for much more for a family car/ reliable and safe mode of transportation. Stereo is surprisingly good as well as the AC. I cant say enough good things about this car.

smooth ride, a trunk you can sleep two in, jbl stereo

Weakness:

noisy cabin, rattles, service department was terrible and said noise was "within normal limits"

rattles, rattles, rattles. I have own toyotas all of my life and I was a loyal toyota fan. It troubled me to encounter this camry because service (which I have not had to count on in the past) was absolutely terrible. I traded in my 1999 solara for this camry. within two weeks, the rattles, knocks, creeping noises appeared. There were 4 areas noise was located. One from the back window passenger side speaker, second from radio, third from driver side seat buckle holder, and 4th from the roof. I took it back to the dealer and they said they had a tech bulletin from headquarters of the rear window hitting the speaker and fixed it. The second time I returned the service manager drove with me and said the noise was not that bad. I could not believe it. The rattles from the radio could be used on Al Queida to extract prisoners for information! It drove me crazy. The rattles from the roof stopped when I pressed my hand against the ceiling. Now if only I could figure out how to use my other hand for the radio that bounced and creeped over the slightest bumbs and my foot for the seat buckle, I could be fine! The external paint was great and the ride was smooth yet it did not roll around corners. The radio was great but bass heavy. I really wanted to love the car. The service department was terrible and toyota no longer uses feedback questionnaires from customers. I contacted the main headquarters and they were kind and gave me a reference customer number and said they would contact me. I've waited 4 months and nothing. I have been a toyota fan for most of my adult life but this experience and lack of interior quality in todays camry left me sour. I sold the car and bought a Lexus used and there is no comparison. I know lexus is toyota but oh well. I must say, when I buy my next car, I will look at the Honda accord or Acur TSX. No more toyotas for me.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Camry V6 XLE

Strength:

-Good V6 power -Surprisingly good handling -Interior is very quite the leather seats are very comfortable -Reasonably priced for the quality and options on the car -Toyota reliability -Good on insurance -Lots on interior room

Weakness:

I wish the XLE came with a spoiler and chrome exhaust tip standard.

The lease was up on our 2000 Tundra and really wanted a new 4Runner, but the dealer and I could not get to the payment I needed. So I asked the salesman if I could get into a Camry for the payment I needed. He said I could get you into a top of the line XLE. So I went and drove it. I was really impressed how much power the car had and how well it handled. My wife has had two Camry's in the past and they were both four cylinders. So I really wanted a V6 if I was going to get into a Camry. If you are thinking of getting a Camry spend the extra money and up grade if you can afford to, you will be glad you did. Anyway this thing is loaded with everything leather, CD changer, alloys, and airbags galore. This car does a U-turn almost if not as well as my 02 Jetta with the sport package and that car handles like a BMW. I was also surprised for a big car there was hardly any body roll, so you feel in control cornering at high speeds.

Strength:

Roomy, smooth drive, very handsome.

Weakness:

No power. Unibody may be for safety during impact, but it won't save your wallet if the car is declared totaled.

I have used Toyotas for over 30 years. They are very reliable and fun. My wife who uses this 2001 Camry had problems after 2 years of power loss and stalling. I said it's a Toyota, don't worry.Last March, she was in an accident that affected the "UNIBODY" thing of the car. The car was excellently clean and I can honestly say 90% in excellent shape except for the UNIBODY thing was affected. The shop totaled the car because they said that it will cost more to repair the unibody and electricals (front/ driver side). I asked somebody from Toyota and he told me that another reason is the car is not safe to drive anymore if the unibody is repaired. My sister on the other hand had a Camry LE 1988 that was in a head on collision that affected the whole front, including engine and transmission, was repaired and is still running. My wife's car had just 1/6 damage in her car. I can understand SAFETY, but what has happened to Toyota quality? I still have my 4x4 1986 pick-up driven coast to coast and running strong. Original engine and transmission. I don't think I will buy another TOYOTA. I don't doubt the engine and transmission, but it looks like they have found another way to dig deeper into your wallet.
