Strength:
•looks great
Weakness:
•high end speed This is a great car. It served me well for ~115K (minus the 35K mi. I bought it with) miles and it runs great still, and I push the car hard. Similar Products Used: Civic EX, come on, can you say cookie cutter? Looks are blah, and the Saturn felt far quicker. Saturn is great to drive |

Its quick, the 124 HP DOHC can smoke any Civic. Its not a Civic, and its not a Civic!!! 46000 miles and no problems, and I rag the hell out of the car. Pedal to floor driving.
Weakness:
Interior is smallish, seats are not the most comfortable for long rides. I defintly wouyld reccomend it for anybody looking for something other than a civic. People beleive into the hype that Civic are the best small car out there, but the SC2 styling, performance and reliablilty outperform the Honda's. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic, Madza Protege, Overall Saturn is a better value |

reliable, runs well even at 86k miles with no major repairs. decent looks, although kinda of thugly from behind.
Weakness:
SLOW.. i know its only 100hp, and i havent tried any mods to improve. but it seems slower than similar cars w/ similar engines (my gf's hyundai accent is noticably faster, cost 2 grand less new than my saturn 3 yrs old). Its a manual trans, and i take it nearly to redline but still hard to merge onto a busy freeway. I have taken it 2 different dealerships but they insist its running fine... so i guess the car is just pokey. paid too much, could have got more car for the money. slower than other cars in the price range, a few manufacturing defects. i will not be buying another saturn. they dont totally suck, but you can do better! DO NOT BE FOOLED.. THIS IS NOT A SPORTS CAR. the 'SC' should not stand for "sports coupe", but "slow car". Similar Products Used: None |

Great fuel economy, pretty good styling, dent resistant, nice sound at higher rpm, good handling, easy to read gauges, large trunk space, easy to fool around with the engine compartment, fast for the type of engine in it.
Weakness:
There are better cars out there. Unless you’re really in love with it’s styling the car really doesn’t offer much else except fuel economy and cheap insurance. If I had a choice I would have gone with a used Probe GT, much better car, looks, speed, and construction. Similar Products Used: 98 Chrysler Sebring Coupe, my friends, a little better, not much. 94 BMW 318i convertible (my first car, could be why I’m so harsh on the Saturn), its a BMW no real point in comparing it to a Saturn. No contest. |

Weakness:
Price (I got double ripped), tires (they blow), reliability (see below) Bought the car last summer. Since then they have gone through 2 model years. Current one has a MUCH lower MSRP - brought down potential resale value over $7,000 in one year. Power steering fluid pump went at 1400 miles (I should have returned it then). Brakes and rotors went @ 9000 miles. Needed new tires @ 15000 miles. Handling sucks. Traction control should really be called "Accident Waiting to Happen if on Snow with Factory Tires". I don't "beat" my car, but this is the biggest POS I've owned yet. I could have and should have gotten another 6,000 miles out of the 94 SL1. Then I could have POSSIBLY gotten a 2001 SC2 and maybe this review would be different but as it stands, the quality of service and the reliability have taken a turn for the worse and my next car will NOT be a Saturn - EVER. I love the style, I love the pickup (original owner added a header to it, so it picks up better than most 4 cylinders w/o major upgrades done to them), leather seats, sunroof, how well it drives and just looking at it is fun. twin cam is real nice too.
Weakness:
a little harder to get into if you're taller, I'm only 5'8", so I'm borderline on that aspect and used to getting into it, so not a weakness anymore. lack of higher performance options, like v-6, v-8, or turbo charger option. I paid $6000 used for it and it was one of the best purchases I've ever made. This car looks and runs smooth. I have had 2 problems. The passenger seatbelt doesn't roll on the track all the way to the end when the car door is open. Locks into place fine when door is closed. And I have to replace a half shaft, but the parts and labor are much cheaper than what I was expecting on the car. Similar Products Used: well, not really similiar, but I've owned a datsun310, and the saturn totally kills it. not comparable actually. |

Strength:
Great finish. Good stopping power and execellent in the snow and rain (when equiped w/Traction control and ABS)Great gas milage and sporty. This car is also VERY easily modified for those who want more power.
Weakness:
Needs a shorter throw on the manual shift. Could have used better stock tires than Firehawks. Interior seems a little cheap. This car is GREAT. Out of all the cars that I have owned (new and used) this one seems to be the best. I have a few modifications on the car so power is not a problem. All my other cars have rusted out in about six years from living in Chicago but the Saturn won't. The safety ratings on this car are excellent which are the first things I look for when buying a car. The dealership has been wonderfull. The people there are freindly and honest. I also paid a little extra for the Car Care Plan so when I bring my car in they bend over backwards for me. The car drives great with 23,000 miles on it and I drive that car hard. If its anything like the Honda, I should have this car for a long, long time. If your looking to buy Saturn, there a few things I recomend. One, buy the Car Care Plan. It will pay for itself in a few years. Two, if your going to buy a new one (and you can afford it) get it loaded. It helps keep the value of the car and you get a lot for your money. Three, have fun and enjoy your new car. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic, Nissan 240sx. Out of both these cars I would still go with the Saturn. Even though the Honda died with 203,000 miles on it. I wouldnt wish my worst enemy to buy a Nissan. |

Strength:
Great styling. The power is great for a 4-cyl. but is now improving thanks to the increasing market for add-ons. The handling is stiff, just like I think it should be. Fit and finish are great. The 30+ mpg is very nice too.
Weakness:
It would be nice to have a V6 option or possibly a turbo. Still hoping to find an aftermarket turbo to add. I paid about $19K plus tax, etc. with almost all the available options, including sunroof and CD player. I think it was a very good value, and I would be happy to buy another one. I could only suggest a few things, but aftermarket suppliers are taking care of most of that. I hope to be racing my SC2 in autocross in the coming months. Then I can prove that the SC2 can smoke the Civics and Neons like I already know it can. If you have other questions as to the Saturn's performance, check out http://www.saturnperformanceclub.com/ Similar Products Used: 97 Kia Sephia, 98 Honda Civic - I like my Saturn most. |

This car has been very reliable. The Saturn experience was everything that had been advertised. It was the right size for my wife and I until we had a child. Nice styling. Sporty look that my wife preffered. Nice power for a 4 cylinder with good handling.
Weakness:
The real problem with the car was the alternator. I have had to replace it 2 or 3 times but the cost of replacement was a lot less than other cars I have owned. The brakes have been a little noisy but that might be blamed on after market pads. No other real comlaints for the cost of vehicle. Don't remember the price but I probably paid a little more than if I bought a comparable vehicle. I would recommend this car to anyone that is single or married without children. No space in the back seat. Service has been very simple and the service experience from Saturn has been significantly better than other companies. I wish everyone would take their approach toward service. Similar Products Used: Even though this is not supposed to be a true GM product it has performed better than any that I have owned in the past (Buick Century, Chrysler LeBaron, Plymouth Voyager). |

Strength:
Good stereo, decent mpg, paint finish & durability.
Weakness:
Poor interior trim quality (dome light assembly continues to fall out, plastic windshield pillar trim on passenger's side warped). Seat threading came undone in back seat in less than two years with no back-seat passenger use (& dealer refused to repair)! Heat/AC control cable snapped after 4 years. Cruise control regularly malfunctions (fails to engage, disengages suddenly, suddenly accelerates without warning). Eats batteries like potato chips (5 in the last 6 years) despite having no additional accesories (I have no sun-roof, no power options, no fog or "running" lights... nothing extra). Turning radius worse than any TRUCK I've ever owned. Noisy. Weak engine (even given it's 1.9 liter size). Hardest & most cumbersome car to change your own oil with. Recessed spark plugs . Weak air conditioning/heating. Trunk design prevents storage of more than one large suitcase, and if you're not careful, the large, cumbersome hinge arms will rip your grocery bags as you close the trunk. Mini-spare tire. Way overly-hyped customer service (based on my experiences with Saturn dealerships in five different states). $15,125. Absolute worst car I or anyone in my family has ever owned, except for the early 70's Gremlin my mom drove a long time ago. Similar Products Used: Ford Mustang, Toyota Celica, Honda Civic, Subaru XT |
