Strength:

Style - pretty cool, dent resistance - after a teenage soon scratched the whole side there was no dent and the scratch was fixed with a bit of polish

Weakness:

I find the controls for heat/air difficult to see specially at night, the engiine is a bit noisy at high rpms

I paid about $19,000 Canadian for the new car, everyone in the family liked it, my wife and two sons have now got Saturns as well, everyone is happy. When buying a car I hate the "offer" game at the dealers so dealing with Saturn is a pleasure - The gave me a price guaranteed for a month so I could think about it.
Sevice at the dealeship is excellent, if they say it will take an hour... it takes an hour.
And the Saturn reunions are fun !
My next car will probably be another Saturn

Strength:

It seems that Saturn over the years has become less powerful, however mt little '92 puts up a good fight to 1995-1999 Mustangs. The first three gears are great, but four and five aren't much use to me above 60 miles per hour. I love the look. The interior is perfect if you want to be alone(2 people max). This little 1.9L, 4 cylinder, 16 Valve, DOHC really puts up a clean fight. Speeds of 130 mph are capable(believe me).

Weakness:

The only things about this car that are bad are its' aftermarket accessories(which are not many) and it eats oil like a VW Beetle.

I love this car. I have done so mant things to it and plan to do many more when the aftermarket products start appearing. Get the '92, the late models aren't as good.

1995 Mitsubishi Diamante:way better handling due to lower stance, not as fast, but close, and the turning radius is about the same.
Therefore:For about $12,000 extra dollars the Diamante is worth it.

Strength:

The car was a good buy for the money. Even after 5 years people still ask me if I just bought it. It has a unique body style.

Weakness:

It really is lacking in horsepower compared to other cars in it's class.
The design of the driver leg room is horrible. If you put your seat back so you have enough leg room, you have to strech to reach the steering wheel.
Anybody who has ever had to sit in the back seat, wanted out after 10 min.
At 53,000 miles I am already having problems honda's have at 100,000.

I like my saturn, and I plan to keep it for a long time unless It really start to have major maintenace problems.

I bought my Sc2 because it was diffrent and I liked the fact that it was all american but I should have spent a little extra and got a Honda civic or a Toyota celica.

I priced a 99 saturn and a 99 civic si, and they were almost the same.
The civic is more reliable, has better gas milage, 34 more horsepower, and more leg room.

I think Saturn has made a big mistake by not improving the SC2 model over the years.

Strength:

Service. Ride. Available torque for passing and emergencies. Sound system. Will hit 80 with no effort at all. Need to keep an eye on the speedometer. Took it up to 115 with no strain.

Weakness:

First gear is too low. 6000 rpm before you know what hit you. Shifter will occasionly bind a bit if you slam it too hard. (of course Saturn's answer was "don't do that" :)) ).
ABS is LOUD. Could scare someone that didn't expect it. And has.

I think this car is great. I found that its pickup is more than adequate, providing good torque between 2000 and 5000 rpm. It's somewhat weak off the line, but since I don't do 1/4 mile any more, I'm not concerned about it. Handling is good. It takes tight fast cornering very flat, although the Firestone tires have a slight tendancy to slip. I have all available options on this care except the cd/cassette radio. However the cd player has enough power to provide full listening even at 80 mph with all 3 windows open. Service has been fantastic, although I've had very few problems. And when I broke the trunk latch mechanism, and told them I did, they replaced it under warranty anyway.

Strength:

Has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Only had normal maintenance performed on it, oil, brakes, tires. Only real problem I had was a motor mount go bad cost me 89 bucks.

Weakness:

I drive a lot and the seats are to low and kind of uncomfortable on long drives. You have to watch the oil, Saturns use up about a quart every one thousand miles.

I would recomend this car to someone that wants a stylish, sporty looking car that does not spend lots of time in his/her car. But if you spend lots of time in your car, step up and get the L300 luxury sedan, or a Buick Regal.

Similar Products Used:

Honda CRX, it has been a better car than the two CRX's I owned,I had to have an air conditioner put in both of them and that aint cheap. Had no problems at all with the SC2, except a motor mount went bad, that cost me 89 bucks.

Strength:

The car is fun, sporty and gets incredible gas mileage. The stereo is adequate and the handling is very good for an American car. With the drop down lights, I think this is a more attractive model year for the SC.

Weakness:

The engine is noisy at high RPM and there is not enough room in the car in general. Front seat head/leg room is limited and back seats are really a joke.

I paid 9950 for this car which included all options, leather and sunroof, as well as only 39,000 miles and a 12 month warranty. The dealership was and continues to be a high point in the car's features. This car is a fantastic deal for the money. The 1.9L engine is big enough to outrun most non-sporty cars out there (ie. minivans, SUV's, small cars) but sure, I'd like more power. I am starting to notice some vibrations from the dash, but overall the fit and finish is on par with the cars twice its price.

Strength:

No Haggle Price and initial salesmanship. The Saturn comercials are pretty acurate in that respect. Buying the car was a breeze, owning it has been another story.

Weakness:

Engine died at 30K. Corporate office contested responsibility and only replaced after prolonged debate. New engine continues to “use” 2+ quarts of oil between changes, dealership claims that this is normal. Poor suspension which needed new struts in front after 25K. Lackluster performance in the snow and rain. Small back seat which leaves passengers feeling squished. I should have bought another Subaru!

I paid 19K + because I bought all the bells and whistles. Since the day the engine died and my battles with the corporate office and dealership started I have regretted the decision to buy a Saturn. My wife and I plan to buy a Subaru as soon as we can get rid of this lemon. I would never purchase another Saturn again in my life and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM to anyone.

Similar Products Used:

89 Honda Civic and 87 Subaru XT Coupe. The Saturn is newer and sportier but its already dying. The Honda and Subaru have proven to be more reliable and have earned our trust while the Saturn has been a thorn in our side. I can't compare the Saturn to the Honda becasue in my mind the Saturn is a Lemon not a car!

Really there's no strenghs except it runs off gas, and it always takes me where ever i want to go, but i get there late cause no power assited. I'am for sure i'm going to find some modifications for my car and hook it up where i will be able to beat Shelly cobra's and Honda S2000's.`

Weakness:

""Slow get-up in-go power""
0-60 maybe 9.0sec to 10.5sec.. (don't worry i'm going to fix that soon.)
Top speed 108 mph (going to fix that two, i will buy and ecu chip.)

Well the Saturn kinda feels slow i've raced Eclipses,Integras,Preludes,Proteges, and Sentras never beaten one once, the closest iv'e came to all of them was the sentra and i took off on him by 1 1/2 car lenghs and he just barely past me by half ah car lengh from 0-to about 65-70mph and just kept moving. To me the saturn it's not really a family car it's more of a sports coupe the wheelbase, lengh, width, weight, cargoload, and economy. There all in the category of a sports coupe. Well i would reccomend this coupe to a boyfriend and girlfriend but not to a family with a household of 4 or more. Get a Family sedan with economy, quality and Performance if that's the type your looking for.
