Strength:

Styling, price, gas mileage, power, great handling, great cold weather starting, Tons of space in the back seats, quite driving experience, wicked sound system with the monsoon system, nice features like info and traffic broadcast search, instrument cluster, interior light, and keyless entry, interior

Weakness:

none I've found yet

Alot of fun to drive!!!! I to was looking at civics and subaru's but once I saw the styling both in and out and how well the car handled I was hooked. And it has a great price tag. This car is light and has alot of power giving V6 engines and other GT models with more horse power a run for there money and leaving them in the dust. The gas mileage is great and insurance is cheap. Have had no waranty problems in the six months I have owned the car. The GT also drives suprisingly well in deep snow and have had no problems getting around, the clearance is noticeably higher than a civic or neon. Mine is fully loaded and all options are worth it, sunroof and powerwindows are great bonuses to an already great car. All my friends love driving this car aswell.

Everything is nice about this car... Good looks...nice stereo...it really is a head turner for the price that you pay for it...Girls really love the car. Great car for the money you pay...it ain't a mustang but it is pretty peppy.

Weakness:

Not yet this car hasn't given me a single problem yet...All this that people are saying about the wind noise and stuff i have never heard it???

i paid 12500 for it used with 16,000 miles on it... I would recomend the car to anyone thinking about buying a car in this price range....also my car came with a 7 year 75,000 mile warranty so you know that they are standing behind this product.

Strength:

-very sporty looking, handles well on dry roads, standard shifts smooth
-CD player ok and stereo itself is average sounding.

Weakness:

-ABS brake system is very noisy. Brakes do not work well in snow or rain.
-cup holder is too close to stick shift. Very small truck. Lots of rattles and the paint job had scuffs. A/C button stick. Seats uncomfortable.

Paid $22,500 canadian new. 2 door 1999 GT with 16" tires and Quad 4.
I have had the car in several times for the brakes and the noise from the ABS is terrible. There is a miss in the engine when it idles which I have been told is a computer problem and no fix has been established by GM yet.
The trunk is too small to even hold suitcases and golf clubs for 2 people. There is no trunk release in the car other than using the key or pulling down the back seat. Because of the safety feature you cannot open the trunk when the car is on using the hand remote. The hand remote should be hooked up to the horn so when you lock the car it beeps to tell you you have locked it. It is easy to break in to since I have had it broken into 3 times through the passengers door through the lock. On long trips it is very uncomfortable and if you have the back seat down for the suitcases etc. you cannot put the passenger seat all the way back. The rad smells on long trips. Dealer does not know why. I have traded this in for a 1999 Grand am and hope I have better luck.

Strength:

Very Reliable Car. I've never has any problems with the engine or starting it on a cold Minnesota morning. Pretty good pickup dispite it's 2.2 ltr engine.

Weakness:

Noisy! You hear every bump in the road and every wind gust. The engine is also very noisy. When the heater is on vent it blows directly in your face. They should have given you more control air flow direction. Aerodynamics:The windshield washer fluid, at high speeds, tends to run off the windshield directly onto the side windows and dry right where you'd normally see the mirrors.

For the price and reliability of the car I'd definately buy another one. In fact...I'll probably stick with Pontiac for my next car unless I decide to go with the Cavalier. Very good car for the price! An excellent choice for a roomy (the rear seat folds down for great hauling) and reliable 4 dr sedan. However, if your looking for something with a bit more get-up-and-go look elsewhere; the 115 hp just doesn't do it. Especially if you plan on using the air conditioning often.

Strength:

Speedy for a 4 cylinder. Fun to drive and reliable so far and I've had it for close to a year and a half.

Weakness:

Tires are great in the summer but an absolute nightmare on snow and ice. Do yourself a favour and get some winter tires for this puppy if you plan on driving in any sort of snowy conditions.
ABS seems strange. Even when it kicks in, it doesn't appear to speed the slowing process. I've actually noticed that the car will pick-up speed when the ABS kicks in...a pretty scary realization!

It really does corner poorly...like all Pontiacs.

First off, I'd like to point out that a large number of complaints about this car are things that a normal person would have fixed under warranty. One person notes that the car sounds like it has an open window on the highway. So did mine but, being an intelligent person, I took it to my dealer and they fixed it...Use your head!!! For just about all of the nit-picky items that people have noted here, I've taken the car in and had the dealer fix them. I have yet to make a repair on this car (knock on wood) that wasn't covered under warranty.

In regards to performance, this car is no Mustang GT but it is quite peppy. I've gone toe-to-toe with Integra's, 240SX's, Grand Am GT's, Ford Probe GT's and even the occassional Firebird and I've yet to be embarrassed by my cars performance. I beat the Probe GT, Accura Integra and 240SX; tied the Grand Am GT, and have had marginal losses to the V6 Firebird and was one car length behind a V8 Camaro in a race to 140km. What more could you ask for with a 2.4L and an inexpensive car? All of my friends that assume they'll loose me by 60 mph are quite surprised to see me beat them off the line.

It's not the best car on the road but, for the money ($12,500 Canadian for a 2 year old model), I couldn't pass it up.

-Lousy Acceleration

I don't reccommend this car to anybody. I have had it for 8 months and it has broken down five times and I have overused my CAA membership due to this car. My mechanic doesn't know what to do with it he suggests I give it to the dump. This car was I waste of my $16,000 (canadian). Anyone reading this review should buy a japanese car instead specifically a civic, corolla or protege ANYTHING is better than this. I have suffered incredible amounts of torture with this car and I am now trading it in for a Toyota Avalon. I don't understand how GM will survive with cars like this. My brother's 1964 Lincoln is 10 times better and doesn't break down as often.

Gas mileage was good. Got about 26 miles per gallon. Sporty look with the sleek body curves. Affordable. Good pick-up with the manual tranny. Aftermarket sound system sounds great in the car.

Weakness:

Wind noise on the highway. The clunks and cricks. Bad rear window view.

I paid $7125 for it about 4 months ago with 55,000 miles on it. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone who wants a sporty looking car and don't have the money for a foreign car. I don't have my car anymore because some @sshole hit me and my car was totalled. I had it for 4 months and I loved it.

Lot of clicking noise from engine,The temp gauge seems to show close to hot however it is normal for the fan to kick in that late...?? Cant check tran. fluid! Only by a mechanic!

Fairly good car until the problem of nosies from engine. And the temp gauge which shows preety close to hot however the fan kicks in late...according to the computer hooked up - it is in good range. Spent $102 just to know that! After changing the thermostat, fan relay switch!!
And only mechanics can check tran. fluid...why?? Also head gasket shows leaks at only 80,000klms ..........disappointed at Pontiac

Strength:

The body looks nice on the outside and it comes equipped with a nice stereo. Also it has good gas mileage and I paid a reasonable price for it.

Weakness:

This car is not worth any amount of money. I had to have the A/C fixed the first week I had it. From there it was down hill. I've had the lifters replaced in the engine and the car rattles from everywhere. The rear speaker on the driver side has NEVER worked. And now the muffler is rattling and I will have to take it in.

I paid 14,500 for this car and would not recommend it to anyone. However, if you decide that you want to get this car I suggest that you get and extended warranty.
