Strength:

Excellent Gas Milage, Good looks, spacious interior, and I also enjoy driving the 2.2L engine (manual tranny)

Weakness:

Door rattles, factory sound system not the best, and the cupholder in the front has to go.

I've had the car for 6 months now, and I'm very hard on my cars. I've already put 13,000kms on it since I've bought it. The car runs great even with the extra wear and tear put on the car. I did notice that when sitting in traffic, the engine runs warmer than usual, that can't be good for the head gasket, but otherwise, I'm really happy with the car, I got a great deal on it......$9300 for the 1998 model with 40,000kms on it at time of purchase. I'd probably buy another one after I'm finished with this one.

Strength:

The 2.4 litre twin cam 150 horse engine is more than enough to get you from a to b! combined with the goodyears on the road this engine will beat alot of other cars out the with the power to weight ratio! great visuals for the interior and exterior!

Weakness:

The front cup holder is a joke! it can be used but you then have no use of the heat and air cond. controls and the car cannot be put in park with a larger cup! cd player does show error messages on display once and a while!

this was the first car i have ever owned! i have drivin many other cars and could tell as soon as i sat in this that it was a serious car with all the options and performance you should need!

for this price range i'd say your not going to get a better car! you can get every option and still have $$ in your pockets. the sunfire of cavelier are the 2 best buys for this price range!

Strength:

Great looks inside and out! Wonderful stereo and sound. I love where the power window switches are, and I love the stereo mounted controls on the steering wheel. Very very very convient. Great pick up. Love the instrument panel. Keyless Entry System works great! Breaks will stop ya quick. ABS works really well. They had to be activated a few times (my fault) he he. The folding back seat is great. Very inovative and smart! The front bucket seat sides rap around the passengers. They really keep you confortable. The back seat looks neat the way it is shaped with the two high areas on the top of the seat so the back passengers can lay there heads back on if they want to take a snooze. I love the middle consol It has a cd storage or a cassette storage, and another little area for extra anything storage. The removable ash tray is cool for those non-smokers (which I am!) The feature where you take your key out of the ignition and the dome light comes on is really helpful when your getting out of your car at night. The dual exhaust is really helpful for those 150 horses to move you right along. Everything is located great. The whole dash is kinda tilted to the driver so everything is within a easy reach. The stereo mounted controls are great! I never have to take my hands off the wheel, the only time i have to is when i want to change a cd or mess with the climate controls. The big sunroof is great love it. The sunroof shade was a great idea its like you can choose if you want a sunroof or not. The cargo net and the big trunk are great features as well. The HUGE and i mean HUGE glove box is great! It can hold a 12 pack of pop with enough ice to keep it cold, thats how big it is. The polished black top treatment is really cool too. They don't do that anymore you have to get a 96 Sunfire GT to get the Black top finish they stopped doing it after that year.

Weakness:

The front passengers only have 1 cupholder and thats when the ash tray is removed. Plus if the car is in park you have to reach over the shifter to grasp your drink. The dash is a little noisy. The cup holders that come out of the center consol for the back passengers broke it won't stay up in the consol. CD player gives some Error messages every once in awhile.

This is a very great car it really turns heads. I totally recommend this car. I have the 96 GT and its great. The steering response is awsome. You bearly have to turn the wheel when changing lanes, its really nice. The inside is very sleek and sporty just like the outside. At night when the PONTIAC wording on the back of the Sunfire is lite up it looks really sharp. This car is just too cool!!!!!!! All Pontiac's are cool anyways at night when the red dash is lite up so cool!!!

Strength:

Very dependable, economical, sort of stylish. 130,000 miles without any major repairs. Handles kind of nice, good sound system (built it CD). Great value for the $$.

Weakness:

Lots of little problems. Paint Chipping off interior buttons, fuel gauge never was really accurate, head gasket replaced early on (common problem and GM did reimburse a few years later), lots of break pads over the years (seems to chew through them), eats through oil (about a quart every 1500 miles) headlamps and A/C now need to be replace, but I've had for 5 years , so not too bad.

My sunfire has performed very well. I kept to a very strict maint. schedule, and after 130,000 miles, I'm just now starting to run into some repairs to make. A real solid value compared to some of the other cars I've owned. I also own a comparable Cavalier, and I like the sunfire for all of the "little" features that make the difference .

Chevy Cavalier, Monte Carlo, many other foreign cars in same class. Seemed to be a good value (near 30 MPG, under 14K investment, not many repairs other than normal maint.) Smoother, heavier ride than others.

Strength:

Visually apealing.

Weakness:

The lack of horsepower

The car is a good all around deal with all the standard features. The gas milage is great. All around it is a good buy for the money. The car handles very well and is capable of getting on the interstate with gusto. The factory sound system is very nice with the component set in the front doors. Great sound quality with rds and adjustable digital equalizer.

Strength:

The performance is astounding. Have had no problems with the car. Price of the car was great.

Weakness:

A little cramped, cup holder is a joke, and the seats are nothing to write home about. Noisy ABS system. Interior rattles a little.

I love this car aside from a few pit falls in the interior, and the ABS system. This car has better performance than my 93 eclipse did, even though my sunfire is a 4 speed auto. I would recommend a sunfire to anyone who is looking for a fairly inexpensive car with some punch. I would not recommend it to anyone who wants a car they can ABUSE!!! Do not be scared away from this car by some of the other reviews. It is well know that the 95 models had some extensive problems. But as far as I can tell, they have been addressed in the production of later models. ( knock on wood.)What do you expect with a new model launch. I have recently purchased a 2001 Ford Escape, and already it has a recall on the windshield wipers.

Strength:

I honestly wish that I could find a strength of this vehicle.

Weakness:

The repairs have been countless and incrediblly expensive

I bought this car three years ago. I have kept it only because I have put so much money into it and have accumulated so much negative equity that it would cost me more to get rid of it then to keep it. In the past 36 months I have replaced a set of roters, a time chain that fell apart into tiny little peices, a nicked motor head, two sets of tires, and a bent intake valve a total cost of approximately $2500. The dealer informed me that even though the timing chain shouldn't have broke, they were not going to fix it because I didn't keep oil change records and they don't know what kind of shape the vehicle was in when I purchased it. Even though I bought it from their lot! I notified GM in Detroit and they said the same thing. I will never own another GM vehicle...EVER! I have had nothing but headaches with this car...what really upsets me is that I have owned nothing but pontiacs for the past ten years and have had no problems with any of the other vehicles that I have owned. Please take my advise...If your planning to buy a Sunfire....DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be the biggest mistake you will ever make.

Strength:

I have had my car for about a year now, and i found that i like how much truck space i have. I also like the gas mileage.

Weakness:

Well, After only having my car for only 2 months my whole speaker system went out. I still have one speaker not working. Sometimes it will kick in. Then around 6 months, my sterring wheel started to have a sqeaking noise evertytime i turned it left or right. Then in about 8 months my rotars had to be placed and my brake pads also. I dislike where the cupholder are and the cigerate lighter is too.

Eventhough i have had a few problems with my car, i still like to way it drives. I do like the style of it.
