Strength:

Dependable; decent gas mileage; fun to drive; great to put the back seat down and have extra room for those Home Depot purchases!

Weakness:

None for a car in this price range

I leased this car in 1998 for 3 years. The lease is up in 2 months. Other than regularly scheduled oil changes and tire rotation, this car has not been in the shop for anything (knock on wood). No problems at all. It has 31K+ miles on it, and we use it for all of our running-about-town errands. I am not particular easy on vehicles (especially brakes), but I am not trying to smoke any other vehicles off the road either, so don't expect comments on how many doors I've blown off other cars. If you want an inexpensive, easy to maintain, dependable car, this is it.

Have had 2 Cavaliers, lots of other GM products, and numerous foreign makes (Toyota, Nissan, Suzuki, Isuzu). I must have good luck with cars, because all cars (except my 1986 Chev Cavalier) performed well with no major problems at all.

The cup holderposition and wind noise driving down the freeway. That's about it so far.

I paid a pretty good price for this car. I am happy with it, i like the way it looks with the new stuff i added to it. It's a good car when you have come out of school. So far i have not had serious problems with it.

It has not yet spontaneously exploded.

Weakness:

Everything about it

I can't believe that anyone would give a decent review to this car, I believe it to be a piece of junk. Come on beat a Acura Integra or even a Probe GT...look at the performance numbers kid. These reviews are a joke...if anyone pays over 20K for this car, no matter how much crap it has in it should be slapped. Don't even compare this car to a Nissan Altima, the pontiac is beaten hands down. The engineering and thought put into the Acura is a huge leap ahead of the sunfire. I'm telling you the project manager of the sunfire must have been on crack. Oh and another thing, ABS make the pulsing sound or banging noise when the system actually activates...read up a little will ya. Nobody likes and un-educated consumer...maybe that's why people pay over 20 grand for this bucket. Go by a Ford Tauras with the 24 valve V-6...you'll be more impressed. Infact don't even bother with GM period....that's why Oldmobile is gonna bite the big on. You'll save yourself a headache by avoiding this car.

Strength:

decent acceleration, great handleing in rain and snow, standard tinted glass, lots of trunk space, cold ac, hot heat, decent gas mileage,

Weakness:

dash rattles, sunroof rattles, abs is shaky, and the placement of the spoiler

Over all this is a good car for the price and class. You can't expect to get a BMW for a Hyndai price. Pontiac has good packages when purchasing their vehicle's( sun and sound, comfort). The only problems I have encountered was the dash making a faint rattling noise and the sunroof rattling. The handling is good and I like the horsepower. It isn't a race car, although it has beaten it's share!!!! It is an economy car while still having a sporty look to it. People who should buy this car is people right out of college looking for a dependable car that isn't expensive.

Strength:

-gas mileage
-handles well

Weakness:

-far outweigh the strenths

I have owned this vehicle for 2 1/2 years and have had nothing but problems. Not only has it been an extreme nuisance having it in and out of repairs, but also we have paid slightly over $4,000 in repairs (engine, alternator, brake cylanoid, ignition componants, serpentine belts, etc.) that were not covered under warranty (occuring when the vehicle was at just 40,000 miles). This car is currently at 42,000 miles and we're in the process of investigating what we believe is a failing fuel pump).

When I purchased a vehicle of this type, I was looking for something affordable, reliable, and that would last for a while. Sadly, in the last 30 days, I have paid out almost as much as what the vehicle is even worth -keeping in mind that it is still just over 40,000 miles.

Before you purchase this type of vehicle, please be sure you are prepared to deal with this possible outcome - we are still no where near having it paid off and can not get a decent trade value.

Model Reviewed: Sunfire

Strength:

Overall value, handling around corners, traction control (because I drive through the mountains), easy compatibility with navigation system, easy to modify performance parts.

Weakness:

lag in acelleration, weak interior, speed drops 5 mph after you hit 110 MPH on the interstate, real touchy downshift while at high speeds, hard to reach oil filter, a high factory ground clearance, spoiler leaks dirt after you wash the car.

Although only had the car for a short period of time I think for the price range that it offers it is a damn good car. Did all of you suckas ever think about that. Think about it...if you really want performance buy a BMW or a Skyline!! Other then that...modify it! I have a Borla exhaust, K&N filters, ProComp computer, 19" wheels (for handling), RamAir from Pontiac, and it wont be complete without a bangin' sound system. 2 JL Audio 15" subs, 800watt rockford amp, MB Quart mids and tweets, Premier CD deck w/navigation.

Weakness:

Where to start... build quality, overall performance (brakes, handling, standing acceleration)

My pals and I have a fun game we play every friday and saturday night. It's called Sunfire hunting. We drive around finding cocky sunfire drivers, and we race them. For some unknown reason, a lot of sunfire owners think their car is fast. I am UNDEFETED vs sunfires. never lost a single race. My primary weapon of choice is a 93 Miata, but I've also smoked'em in a 98 Montana, my old man's 2000 F-150, a 99 civic, and even my gf's 95 Hyundai SCoupe. Get over it kids. It just don't cut it.

Strength:

Seats are comfortable, good all-around visibility, decent stereo, useful back seats, trunk space is also quite good, and handling is good.

Weakness:

Engine roars when trying to accelerate, the auto tranny isn't anything to brag about, interior seems a bit cheap, EVERYBODY has one.

Was bought for my sister, however I've been driving it untill I can purchase my own car. Good fir getting around town, it has pretty good gas mileage and is nimble.. The engine performance isnt all that I expected, and the dash and other trim seems kind of cheap.. Still a good car.
