Engine, transmission, styling, handling

Weakness:

poor quality on body of car. uncomfortable seats for more than a 200 mile trip. power windows. stay away from the Goodyear LS tires!!!

I have had this prix for 2-years now and love it, but have had a few problems with the power windows. All four have had the regulator go at least twice the pasanger 4 times. And the Goodyear LS tires only lasted about 10,000 miles that for 2 sets. The overall quality is pretty low, this car has a great engine and transmission but the rest is pretty much thrown together. Especially all the plastic on the front end and rear. It just rattles to death and the dealership says that how they come.

Everything. Power, accessories, handling,

None

Both were great cars. Purchased a white GT in 97 and had absolutely no problems with it. Traded it in on a more powerful and decked out version in 2000. Love the cars! Hear several complaints about quality and in the same paragraph also about how fast the car is or how it handles at mach 1 on the flyby. How do you expect a car to last and then treat it like this?

It's all good

Weakness:

Not a problem

Bought the car March 200 it had 98000 miles on it, now has 13900.The engine is a 3.1 liter. I do regular maintenance on the car. I replace the alternator in July of 2001 and Brakes in December. Flush Radiator once a year and Change Transmission Fluid. I got a K&N filter for it works great, Car has allot more power The only problem Is that the car dealership where I bought the car. One of the struts where busted. I ask them to fix it before I bought the car, they agreed to. They said they fixed the problem. They tore off the rubber boot from the strut. I took it back and ask them to fix it right, and they said there was noting wrong with it. The strut is leaking oil out of it. But anyway don’t buy a used car from Saturn of O`Fallon Illinois there a bunch of @ssholes.

This car looks great, runs great with the 3.8 L Series II engine, top speed 95 mph on I-95, but don't tell the NC Highway Patrol because I think it would go much faster.

Weakness:

The alternator is my most recent problem. It died on my wife 4 days ago, I had to order a replacement from an aftermarket auto parts store, and then I installed it yesterday and it died this morning! Does anybody have a concrete reason why this happened???

This car has been a handful, but I expect that because it does have 91k miles on it. In checking this site and other similar ones I've found a continuity in our problems. From whirring A/C fan, to interior molding that comes loose to the upgraded factory CD player/Radio that blinks mysteriously to an alternator malady which I haven't been able to diagnose, requiring multiple replacements. Also, the knob which controls the sideview mirrors broke off and now I cannot move them except for the old-fashioned way.

Strength:

The car handles very well. Easy to drive. Good sound system. Interior design very nice. Very sporty look for a mid-size family car. Roadside assistance a PLUS! Made in USA!

Weakness:

Not so good on gas mileage.

Bought the vehicle used, but in excellent condition. Only had 13K miles on it at time of purchase. Previously a one owner vehicle. Bought and sold back to same dealership. Have had only one problem with it. Was making a clicking noise in the front right tire when making a sharp left turn. Took it into the dealership. They took the tires off and cleane things out with a blast of air from an air compressor. That took care of the problem. Haven''t had any other problems with the vehicle. Keeping it serviced as recommeded.

Strength:

GTP has great pickup. Bose sound system is fantastic. Looks!..best styled domestic midsize out there.

Weakness:

Engineers at GM need to refine the Magnasteer system a little more. It doesn''t give much feedback, but only is a problem if you drive aggressively. Fuel economy is acceptable but not great.

Test drove everything out there and found the GP to be the best car for under 40000 bucks. Had a good experience/service with the dealer and have had no problems with the car. I can''t explain other peoples problems, but I''ve found most don''t service their cars properly or drive harshly. I was expecting a crappy interior (as per the reviews), but either others were lying or GM has improved their build quality recently.

With less than 400 miles on the car the steering rack needed to be replaced by the dealer. The dealer refused to give me a rental. Not a good start! The drivers side door and window rattles. I made a big mistake buying this car.

i think that the pontiac grand prix is 1 of the greatest sedans on the market it con dust any daewoo, oldsmobille, mitsubishi. i got in a race in my 2000 pont grand prix against a new fixed up v6 eclipse and i dusted it. i did not know that this car had that much power it will take your head back when you take off and it should with a 0-60 in under 6.6 i think if you want a car that no one thinks is fast and you want to suprise some teens in a CRX or civic with fixed up motors and dust them at a red light then the grand prix is the car 4 you i have 62000mi on mine and it runs and drives like it was new and i have never serviced it because there has been no problems with it if you buy a grand prix make sure it has the 3800series 2 or the 38000 series 2 supercharged because they was listed as one of the top 100 engines in the past 100 years

Strength:

Power, HUD, and styling are all pluses.

Weakness:

Just about everything else is a minus.

Since the day I bought this car I have had nothing but problems and have received little to no help form both the dealer and Pontiac. The problems started with alternator noise in the passenger door speakers which it took the dealer and Pontiac 4 times to repair the problem and it''s still not quite right. The car rattles from, well, just about everywhere. I''ve even tried going through Ohio''s Lemon Law procedings but nobody seems to care about a problem as small as a noise in speakers. Even if they were a $600 option on the car.
