Strength:
Excellent power on busy freeways. Looks good and is extremely comfortable to drive. The heads-up display is a big strong point.
Weakness:
Haven't really found anything I'd consider a weakness. I bought my Grand Prix GTP as a certified used car. The dealership takes great care with their cars as well as their customers. I would buy another GTP from Borscherding in a heartbeat. Similar Products Used: During the 70s, I owned two different Audi Foxes. They were boxy, much like other cars of the time, but like the Grand Prix, they were comfortable and had power to spare. Had Audis remained a reasonab |

Power, transmisson, looks, handleing.
Weakness:
Power windows. Rear seats do not come down (for transport of lagre objects)just the middle part. If this car was all-wheel drive and was available with a "Tiptronic" transmisson (like Audi) It would be the best! And even more fun to drive. The car is great, it looks good and agressive. I love the power of the engin. The only problem I had with the car are the intermitant working power window on the passanger side. A part from that, I love it. |

The v-6 3.1 fast enough for me. Driving position good. Body was fairly srtong.
Weakness:
COST OF PARTS AND LABOR FOR SERVICE. Had a base 1989 GP, with 3.1 V-6. Roomy (in front) Drove it for 8 years. parts were some what expensive. usually about $400.00 a clip. Car was durable, survived 3 accidents. and 8 years as a daily commuter. Basic model well equipped. Similar Products Used: 1985 Z-28,MUSTANG COBRA(GT-350) |

Strength:
I love the looks. Runs and shifts smooth. Everything works.
Weakness:
A better quality of leather would be nice. The radio display goes haywire every once in a while when first starting out but fixes itself within 5 minutes. A little more range on the air vents would be nice. A sporty car like this should have full instramentation. This has been a great car so far. Have had no repairs in well over a year and is fun to drive. Similar Products Used: Nothing to sporty since my '69 SuperBee. |

I love the power of the GTP and handling. Good torque and highway driver.
Weakness:
Not real comfortable. I have had the heads up dimmer fade in and out, a sidewall tire blow out for no reason, really bad sunroof leak, (replaced entire unit)air conditioner drain plug and flood entire cabin, and now the radio display is dead. This car is terrible. i couldn't even sell it outright because i would feel to guilty. i would NEVER tell someone to buy a grand prix. To be honest, i loved this car for the first year. I have hated it ever since. I think the only soid points of this car are the engine, h.u.d, guages, and the styling. Similar Products Used: chevy beretta |

Pontiac Gran Prix GTP
Strength:
Super 4 door sedan, fast, with gobs of torque in the most useful driving ranges, and has nice looks. Front wheel drive is great for snowtime here in W.PA. Even my wife likes this car, So far, the only problem I have had is with the reformulated gas in PA. Even premium gas, which this car requires, sets of the 'CHECK ENGINE' light. The first time this happened, I went to the local Pontiac dealer and got a very fuzzy report on the sensors message code. Now, when it happens, I just ignore the light and it goes off when I next fuel up. Go figure Detroit! I change oil frequently and use synthetic oil which seems to make the engine smoother from what I can tell.
Weakness:
Aside from the gauge issue noted before, the car is a bit on the small side up front. My wife wishes the center console had more room, it will not really hold a collection of CDs. I have the sunroof option and the headroom front and rear would be improved with an inch or so added. NOTE Detroit - if you made this car with AWD and an even more powerful engine, it would rule the world. I think sissy management types are responsible for bringing poor cars to market, as there are so many bright and inventive people in the industry. This car was sort of a trial run for internet buying. I made arrangements to get it through a site in Consumers Digest magazine. With a bit of fooling around, some travel to pick it up at the originaging dealership in Michigan, it has worked out well. I have it on a 3 year lease and will replace it with another Fall 2002. I do not like to buy cars and will lease my next one, even if the factory has 0% financing offers. Similar Products Used: Buick, Toyota, Honda sedans |

Powerful engine Sporty suspension (some complain it's too stiff, but I love the more stiff response) Heads-up display Large trunk Foglamps Good fuel economy Roomy interior Quality Aluminum wheels Trip computer Nice Bose stereo system
Weakness:
Leather interior could be better quality Passenger seat not powered/heated That's it! A GREAT CAR!! After graduating college, I was ready to buy my first "real" car. After much research, I knew that the Pontiac Grand Prix was the only car that I would even consider. I have owned several Pontiacs and honestly, no other make comes close in my opinion. My Grand Prix was purchased slightly used at 30k miles, although inside and out it was virtually brand new. Mine came fully loaded, with every option available. You won't find the heads-up display in any other car in the GP's class. Steering wheel stereo controls are really nice, and I'm happy with the 8-speaker Bose system, it sounds very nice when compared to other stock systems. Everything from the heated seat, to auto-dimming rear view mirror, to trip computer is very nice to have. The engine is powerful and high quality. Seats are very comfy on long trips. A/C works so well, only takes a couple minutes to cool the car. Plenty of safety features, anti-lock brakes, daytime running lights, dual airbags, heads up display. A great touring car - if you want more power, go for the GTP. Every day I am excited to commute to work. Why? Because I get inside my bright red GP with leather interior, open up the sunroof and windows, blast the stereo and cruise to work. I can't wait until 2005 when the Grand Prix gets another facelift.
