Fair car in the power department. Death trap in the handeling department. Car hydorplanes terribly, almost rear-ended a car on the highway because this car couldn't stop. Fit and finish is sub-standard at best. Electronics need help (ie power windows that don't work).

Strength:

A lot of room, plenty of power.

Weakness:

Mileage not great. Trouble with power sliding door right after warranty expired. Both headlight covers fell off after three years.

A very reliable car right up to about 125k miles. First thing to go was the water pump. At 145k the fuel pump (very expensive). Now at 150k the dreaded intake manifold gasket and a peculiar intermittent misfire in one the cylinders when you start it up. Mechanic can't seem to fix it. Time to buy a new car.

Strength:

Acceleration - While she doesn't have as much power as my Blazer, her accel is heaven in comparison. Steering - I've found myself letting go of the steering wheel while driving down the highway or straight paths, and not moving an inch sideways. I lost control on my Blazer twice the first day I had him, and about 3 more times within a year. Never come close in my Grand Prix. Space - This baby has more 'comfort' room than any vehcile I've driven, even my step-dad's Crew Cab F350. It isn't too small, giving ample space for 5 passengers easy, but not so big that I can't reach back and close the rear right door all the way going 65 and never budging an inch. The trunk space is perfect, giving me more room than my Blazer AFTER both of my subs, my amp, jump cables, sleeping bag (don't ask), and everything else I stored in my truck. Windshield Whipers - They aren't visible until use! Cool little feature... The blinker warning is nice, too. I LOVE the Auto-Roll-Down Window Button!!

Weakness:

Panels - Both door panels are a little loose :( This might be due to neglect, though. She was definately not pampered... Interior - She needs a new paint job, and I want to get her deep blue with just a LITTLE green, because the interior is somewhat teal. Grays and Black match any color... It should be a law that vehicle interiors never come in any color save shades of Gray and Black. Exterior - Parts of the body (mainly umper covers, etc.) feel extremely flimsy, I fear putting any weight againt it at all. Then again, I am used to my '89... practically a metal box on wheels.

Haven't had the car for too long, but so far is the best vehicle I've had the pleasure of driving!! This was an emergency replacement for my 1989 Blazer whose engine is knocking... I loved my blazer, and I'm a fan of taking my vehicle where it shouldn't be... I also like to feel the road while I'm driving, so getting a CAR was almost completely out of the picture. After touring my entire city, I came back to the Grand Prix (Which I had test-driven first). One ride and I was in love. When I bought her, she was filthy. But everything worked. After steam-vacc.ing the interior and upgrading my system, it's like I payed $3,100 for a brand new car ($3,500 after TTL).

Strength:

Power up the wazoo, handling is great, smooth, quiet, luxurious, heads up display is nice. Good options on this car.

Weakness:

It rides a bit rough(could be because of smaller tires).

I love this car, it is my baby. It is the coupe, I put lower tires and clamped the front springs, it's low stance is very aggressive. This thing has POWER! Mine has a smaller pulley with a cone filter. Those together give it about 280 hp and 320 torque.(40 more than stock on both) Takes out mustangs, even the big cobra. This is a family car from hell!

Strength:

Great gas mileage. Nice looking. Fun ride for the test drive, but uncomfortable ever since.

Weakness:

VERY Rough ride. VERY VERY small back seat. Did I mention it is a VERY rough ride?

I'm so sorry I didn't "listen" to these reviews. I looked at only the positive ones ie "Motor Trend Car of the Year '94". The bad reviews were more accurate. I bought this car at 69K, now (1 1/2 yrs later) at 78K had the brakes worked on twice. Can only be repaired by a dealership mechanic… not my neighborhood discount mechanic. The driver’s side window jumped off the gears (rattles horribly). The passenger door handle broke off in my daughters hand. Air vents fell apart at the touch. Hatch hydraulics were useless when I bought it, (but looked past it), just a PAIN and expensive and difficult to replace. Moon roof begining to rust from under the paint. Transmission slips. In cold weather, pops and cracks, which, just can’t be good. Very uncomfortable ride. My GM products never let me down so quickly. Trade in is HORRIBLE.

Strength:

Great power from a 6 banger. Very many standard options. Great design. Alot of room. Well thought out interior. Heads-up display is great.

Weakness:

Should have an 8cyl option.

Ive owned this car since new. It has been a perfect car, with very minimal problems. Windshield wiper repair (warranty), added freon (warranty), faulty passenger power window switch. Thats been it, the car has 62,000 miles and always been garaged. They did their homework when they designed this car. Its an overall well built well designed car with plenty of power and room.

I owned a 89 Camaro RS 305 5 speed, that was purchased new. The Grand Prix would have taken the Camaro in a strait line race, hands down.

Strength:

Few product lines offer as many options for the low price that Pontiac does. I'll probably be missing that when I trade. This car looks great and has lots of get up and go. I love to drive it and hate to let it go, but it seems to be out to get me.

Weakness:

My particular car has had a large percentage of the problems listed in nhtsa.org's service bulletins, starting with the second day I owned it. It has been an inconvenience given its low mileage.

At 45,600 miles, I have had six years of intermittent troubles. Service engine light kept car in shop off and on the first two years. They never could say for sure what was causing it. Power window button has been replaced. Three windows now work only intermittently. Air bag light came on. I have lost both headlight lenses, and dealers tried to hit me up for $250 for the whole assembly when a $73 headlight capsule is available per their own technical service bulletin. Still, $73 for what is probably a 25 cent piece of plastic is awful. Now my Dex-Cool is turning to sludge. My value and overall ratings reflect what I feel about a car with few or no problems.

Strength:

It was big.

Weakness:

Sound of the engine was annoying, the electrics were shoddy, the paint was chipping, and the list goes on and on.

I hated this car. It broke down every 2 weeks, and every time it needed a new part. I ended up spending $3000 in repairs alone in the 4 weeks I owned this piece of crap. Here's the best part--It hadn't been in an accident, and it only had 42,000 miles on it. I traded it in for a 1998 Geo Metro, and I love my Metro.

That was my first and last car built by GM. Luckily for me, Metros are built by Toyota.

Stylish, Lots of torque, Comfortable, Reliable, Handles amazingly

Weakness:

Could have had a bigger engine, would be better if Rear-wheel drive

I absolutly love this car. I have never driven a snappier car. Sure it only has a 140 hp 2.8 v6. But it has taken quite a few rice burners, and 1 Mustang GT thats the one im proud of. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong. My car has just passed the 140,000 mark, and it still has the original engine and tranny in it. Thats awesome considering I deliver pizza's for a living. I give her a beatin and she just keeps comin back for more.

Strength:

Very peppy for a family sedan. Love the Head-up Display and the performance.

Weakness:

No compas, only one heated seat, door panels are flimsy (had to have them replaced, ouch), no casette player.

I leased this car and have really enjoyed the performance. I love the loaded features but was a bit surprised at the options they decided to leave off. It is a very fun car to drive.
