Strength:

Excellent car, handles and performs great!! lots of power and fun to drive. All gauges are easy to see and well lite for night driving. Comfortable seating, great for long trips.

Weakness:

Hate the large A/C button, it's so senitive that it's easy to keep turning the air conditioner on by accident. Small price to pay for a car like this.

I paid $23,000 for my grand prix with a nice option package and was worth the extra cash. If in the market for a mid-size car I would definitely recommend it.

Strength:

Power and performance. Exterior design, Heads Up Display

Weakness:

Interior dash material, Headlights at night

I would strongly recommend this car to anyone who would like a compromise between a sports car and family sedan. The car is very fast, yet has a lot of interior room. With its great looks and reasonable price you can't do a lot better.

The only issue is that it is a very large vehicle. Sometimes parking is difficult for both length and width. Not recommended for shy drivers.

I love the look, style, acceleration, the awesome websites for the vehicle.

Weakness:

Very weak and poor stereo.

I've done some modifications to the car, whould love to modify the engine as well as the exhaust, but, not after paying for the new Sony ES cd player (stearing wheal radio controls still work just lost the HUD for radio only big deal), replaced all speakers with MB Quartz and Infinity Reference, installed 2 12" JL Audio subs, installed MTX amp and RockFordFosgate Amp....now that replaces the weak stereo. hehe

Strength:

The acceleration is awesome! I like the sporty suspension and handling. I first fell in love with the styling though!

Weakness:

I don't like all the little things that have been going wrong with it. Windshield wiper motor has been replaced 3 times. Headlamp lenses falling off (twice). Water pump went out at about 35,000 miles. Loose suspension needs frequent checks.

I had high hopes for this car when I first saw it. I loved the new body style when I first saw prototypes in 1994. So when they came out, I had to buy one. I bought a PEP car for $17,900 which was a great deal with only 7,000 miles on it. Loved the acceleration, but alas after all the "little" problems, I am looking forward to getting rid of it. I would say that I would only recommend this car to someone if they plan on buying an extended warranty with 0 deductible and if they do not mind taking it in for repairs about every 2-3 months.

Strength:

Nice Acceleration
Responsive Engine

Weakness:

Ride gets a little busy
Too many leaks
Relatively unreliable
Poor build quality

After having this car for over 2 years, I can honestly say that it was a bad investment. The only good thing about this car is acceleration. This car has proven to be very unreliable.

Looks, acceleration, features, lots of modification opportunities

Weakness:

Little too much wheel noise when wet out, otherwise none !

I paid about $21,700 for mine and have enjoyed every dollar so far ! I do 80 miles round trip for work each day and actually look forward to the drive now. I'd echo K. Jarrett's comments about the support community that has helped me to get maximum enjoyment out of this car. Did a lot of comparison shopping before I bought this car and I think it is the best value for the money that I have ever had in buying a new car.

Strength:

I have to say that my GTP is the best car I have owned. The power from the supercharger is incredible. And along with the roomy interior, it makes a great car for any road trip. The '97-'00 Grand Prixs are the best looking Pontiacs in a long time. The leather buckets with lumbar support are comfortable on long trips. And passengers who sat in the back seats had ample room, and in fact it was comfortable enough that they were able to take a nap. Though this is my first car with leather, I have to say it is soft and the heated seats makes driving the car in the cold a pleasure to sit in while waiting for the car to warm up.
I ordered my GTP with the optinal Hi-Polished Torque Star wheels. They add a nice touch to the car. They are not as bright as a chrome wheel, but the high polish finish gives off a nice shine. Just enough to get noticed and too much to be gaudy.

Weakness:

I would have liked to have both front seats heated instead of just the driver's side. And I'd like it if the car sat an inch or two lower to the ground.

I've owned the car since April of '99 and it has been very reliable and easy to drive. I paid $24,800 + tax and I have not regretted it. It handles well in all weather conditions and all instrument controls are within easy reach. And the optional Head Up Display is a great toy and does not take much to get used to nor is it distracting in any way.
The steering wheel radio controls are a pleasure to use and I do not need to take my eyes from the road to change the station or volume. The eight speaker Bose stereo with CD player gives great sound and is easy to use. I looked at the Regal GS but I wanted a two door and something a little less sedate looking. Anyone looking for a car that turns heads and can carry five people in comfort should look into the Grand Prix. I suggest the GTP. The extra 40 horses under the hood is reason enough.

Strength:

Performance; styling; value for the dollar; build quality; roadholding; availability of aftermarket performance parts; uniqueness

Weakness:

Some people complain about GM quality problems but my '99 has been virtually flawless.

I paid $200 over invoice ($23,311 total) for my '99 Pontiac Grand Prix GT in October '99. I have driven it over 34,000 miles in 15 months and the only problem I have had to date is a faulty engine temperature sensor. The car is beautiful, powerful (enough), handles superbly, and is a blast to drive. It has many great features and creature comforts, including leather, sunroof, GM/Bose 8-speaker premium sound system, traction control, and more. The 205hp V6 offers plenty of power, the transmission is smooth, and visibility is excellent.

A wonderful online community of enthusiasts has grown around this vehicle. See these two excellent websites for more information (pro and con) about this car: http://www.gp-owners.com and http://www.grandprix.net.

My personal site devoted to this car can be found @ http://www.kjspace.com/gt.htm. I have spent quite a bit of time customizing the car to my taste. It's been easy, inexpensive, and very rewarding.

I love this car so much it hurts!!! Like my website intro says, we all have our addictions...

If you're shopping for a good family sedan with a performance attitude, and you want to buy american, give this car a good hard look.

Good luck,

-kj-

I have had my GP for a year and have 21k. The only problem I've had is the brakes which have pulsation but this is common with a lot of cars that I've owned and is covered under warranty.

I am very happy with my GP. Although down the road will tell the story but I am pleased so far with the quality. The car gets 23 mpg and runs great. I love just to look at this car!!

Strength:

Very powerful for a mid-sized sedan. Almost as fast as a Mustang GT. Faster with a few hundred dollars of mods. There are a lot of nice luxory options. Heads-up display is great. Best bang for the buck.

Weakness:

Pontiac could do better with the build quality. The leather is cheap looking, in my opinion. Could use better tires.

1999 Silvermist Grand Prix GTP with the 1SC option package. $24,250 + tax, tags, etc. This car is great. The GTP is well worth the money. Best bang for the buck. This is a great car for people in their 20's - 40's. The insurance is very reasonable because of all the safety features. The anti-lock brakes discount cancels out the performance surcharge. I am a 23 year old male, and I pay under $100/month for comprehensive through Geico. The Grand Prix has also recieved great crash test reviews.
Take a look at www.grandprix.net and www.gp-owners.com for more info.
