Strength:

Front looks sharp

Weakness:

Poor build quality, poor finish (embedded with rail dust), hard to judge distances when parking, brakes VERY poor, rear window defog BARELY works, rear of car is ugly, traction control is a joke (doesn't use abs on the GT only cuts out engine), alarm is useless (had to disable damage detection - too sensitive), had to replace speakers with aftermarket, low fuel annoyance goes off at 1/3 tank, have to remove dual air controller to change from C to F, glue everywhere from factory, no top end power (guess thats where the GTP comes in ), I could go on but have to go back to dealer to get blower motor replaced again

Highly recommend to avoid this car unless you enjoy spending lots of time at dealership and returning to get same work done over and over till it's right. At 6 months replaced blower motor, abs traction control module, (magnasteer never worked from factory - $1000 part), rear wing insulating tape, all dash vents (only to find part stickers flopping in vents - 3 times back for that one). Selling as soon as warranty runs out...expensive to repair

Strength:

good pick up, sporty styling, easy to reach engine parts (engine isn't all cramed together)like the mystique. big trunk, great leg room, better than average stereo system, safe feeling ride.throaty gurr nice rubble.

Weakness:

spungy brakes, noise from back brakes, red dash lightes "very in your face" (but I guess thats pontiac) but good for those long need to stay awake night drives.cup holders in bad location drink get in the way of reaching for the gear shifter, need better sun visors, wipers suck....we'll leave it at that.need brighter lights, too small glove box.

I bought it used with 33000kms on it for about $27000.00 (CDN)after taxes
extended 5 yr waranty rust proofing bla bla bla...the sale price was about $22500.00(CDN). they include a new paint job on the roof because there was a big scratch that wouldn't buff out plus new front rotors brake pads all around and 2 new front tires. I feel I got a good deal.

In the proformance end of thing it is great. Hauls *** when I need it to, but lags a bit on the passing gear at high highway speeds. It is a smooth ride. I hate that it has a top speed limiter, but thats probably a good thing. It has more get up and go than the BMW that I drove for a bit.(BMW no limiter)

I love the fact that you can get to the engine parts easily take a look at the mercury mystique v6 and u will understand me.

I'm 6"2 and I now don't hit my knees on the steering every time I turn the wheel and brake. At the same time. I love that a the car fits "me"

I realize smaller cars corner better but it feels heavy going in to hard corner.(Will have to change driving style a bit I guess)

The car would look better with 17in low profile tires. The ride is kind of floaty on the highway and doen't suck up the big bumps very well aftermarket springs and supension should fix that.

headlights are could be better especial on really dark nights and grey weather. (replacing the drive /fog lights with H.I.D or quartz halogen lights should do the trick that way I can see better but because they sit low on the car, they won't blind other cars. Yet still look cool.

In the glove box on my mystique I had a 10 disc changer. The grand prix GT there is not enough room. No biggey those. The trunk was taller than the gp too but what it lacks in height it makes up for in lenght and a bit in width, but it was a bumber that I had to change my sub box to get it to fit.

All I did was add a Phoenix Gold amp xs series and 2 Phoenix Gold xs 12' subs to the factory stereo systems to get that earth shattering bass effect. I Love the controls on the steering wheel.
(sounds soooo sweet now)

It is a great highway ride for thought 3 to 5 hour long trips but zipping through the city streets it feels too big and bulky.

The wipers are crap try using them on a Canadien winter day the washer freezes in the tubes even if you use -40'C fluid. The blades freeze
so it only cleans an area about the size of my fist. The fluid spray needs redesigning. If the side windows are open it come into the car. LOOK AT FORD for A GOOD EXAMPLE.THE MYSTIQUE THEY HAVE A GREAT WASHER FLUID SPRAY SYSTEM EVEN WORKING IN EXTREME COLD and sloppy weather.IT HAS A MISTING FAN SPRAY THAT HIT THE ENTRE WINDSHIELD NO MATTER WAS SPEED OR WEATHER CONDITION AFTER FLIUD HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND THE BLADES CLEAR IT.THE WASH FLUID IS CHANNELED UP THE SIDES OF THE WIDSHIELD AND ALONG THE ROOF SO IF YOU NEED TO CLEAN YOUR WINDOWS ON A HOT DAY FROM BUGS OR ROAD GRIM
AND YOU HAVE YOUR SIDE WINDOW DOWN IT DOESN'T COME IN THE CAR.

I love the Grand Prix GT but it is the little thing that you get used to, that make the whole car/driver as one experiance enjoyable.

I loved the mystique but 3 engines later and other problems with the vechical make me decide to switch, but if was a fast fun car 170 hp.I wasn't about to step down in ponies. My mom just bought a 98 cavalier before she had a 89. The only problem she had with it was a leaky windsheild. They are underpowered for my likeings and foot.It got me think GM though and the Grand Prix fit my personality and style the best comfort features and safetyand power for the price. So I'm giving the Grand Prix a shot, proformance great reliable only time will tell.

I'm 25 I have a GT Coup I love driving it despite it's minor flaws. I think someone between 25 and 50 years should buy it.

Average to tall in height just because it is a big car.The attitude of I want a sporty young intellectual look with the safety and proformace in mind.

Weakness:

The car is too high from the ground ...

This is the best car you can get for that kind of money... of course if you want the best preformance then you should buy the GTP model , - it has a killer acceleration , So if you see it , take a test drive and see for your self , u ll feel very good and safe driving that car ...

Strength:

VERY fun to drive, good looks, comfortable, great bang for the buck

Weakness:

Moan from rear brakes when applied hard, minor rattles and sqeaks, gas is premium so here in WI that can get really $$$ but that is not Pontiacs fault, leaking headlights. I wish the tires wouyld stick better, but then I would just eat them up sooner.

This is one fun car to drive. I hated it at the auto show, but when I saw it in the showroom it was love at first site. When I told my wife what I wanted, she was very unhappy. Why do you want that ugly car she kept asking. I ttok her to ther show room and showed her the brite red and she too was in love.

I was one of the first people to get one of these when the new style came out and was one unique dude for a little while. Turns a lot of heads and some even thought it was a Porche. Now everyone around here seems to have one.

Only problems were rattles from the rear window molding, rattles from rear seat support, and slight moaning from rear brakes when applied hard. All was fixed WITH GREAT SERVICE except for the braking problem. Pontiac says it is a design thing and was fixed on later models.

I would recommend this car for anyone who wants to have fun when driving. It is pretty easy on the pocket book and beats the heck out of a lot of cars on the road.

Strength:

>Great body styling
>Roomy enough for singles/small families
>Affordable for a mid-size with good amount of options
>Big trunk size
>So it's not a Porsche, but it's still fun to drive

Weakness:

>Cheap leather interior
>Cheap, toy-like control buttons
>Cup holders not deep enough and too close to manual shifter when open

I previously leased a 1987 Grand Am which was my first American car. All my life I have sworn by the reliability of Japanese cars. I can't believe I just got my SECOND American car! I must be getting old. Actually, the Grand Am was "okay", I had no problems with it but I was tired of cramped, compact cars. I started noticing the Grand Prix, particularly since I wanted an affordable MID-SIZED car with a bit more power. I'm not gonna lie and say it's just as good as a Toyota or Honda. I've only had it 6 months and I've heard a few horror stories from people who owned a Grand Prix and had alot of problems. I'll check back in after a year and maybe I'll have a sob story for you. I've also known people who owned one for years with no problems. I think GM is known for that; you buy your car and you take your chance. I wouldn't own this car if I could afford better, but so far so good. I have to say I'm happy with it. Compared to my husband's BMW, the Grand Prix handles like a wheelbarrel. It's not a high performance racing car but I don't expect it to be. But for the money, it's a good, comfortable, cool looking car. Plus, it's cool enough to turn some heads but not a car thief magnet like the Accord or Celica. It's also alot safer than the Grand Am which finishes last in every safety test! To sum up, I'm glad I'm leasing a Grand Prix instead of buying one. In three years if it starts rattling and creaking and breaking down, I'll give it back. I don't expect this car to last 130,000 miles like my Acura did.

Strength:

-Great acceleration
-Great handling
-Comforatble
-Sounds like a V-8
-Good sound(with the Bose)
-Awesome rims
-Gets everyone's attention

Weakness:

-Needs better tires(lower profile, wider), possibly bigger rims
-Sounds system is good, but needs better bass and an equalizer
-Cheap leather

I paid 30,000 for my GTP and is the best investment I've ever made. It has the perfect combination of style, comfort, and sport. You can take the family for a cruise and be very comfortable or you can take the guy next to off the line with no problem. This car takes off like a bat out of hell once the supercharger kicks in. It is unbelievable, yet you don't pay an arm and a leg for insurance as compared to a Trans-Am or a Camaro. The stereo is awesome. The HUD keeps you reminded of how fast you're going because the ride is so smooth you don't realize how fast you're going. You can't even feel the transmission when it is shifting. All in all this is the most amazing car I have ever riden in. It is so smooth and it flies like there is no tomarrow. I would definately recommend this to anyone.

Strength:

I loved the styling when I first saw it in 1997. I obsessed about it until I bought one in January of 1998. After 83,000 miles (I have a long commute!) I still love to stare at it, let alone drive it. My non-supercharged GT averages 24.5 mpg. The acceleration is not breathtaking, but overall, satisfying. I have had no rattles or other problems worth mentioning, and I love the sound system.

Weakness:

The suspension sucks really hard at high speeds. When I hit a minor dip in the freeway above 70 mph, the car rebounds horribly. I'm off to find a source of improved struts.

I pad 24000 in January 1998, and have absolutely no regrets. I would definitely recommend it.

Sharp styling inside & out. Good performance. Comfortable.

Weakness:

Drivers seat does not slide back like the passenger seat can.

I've only had the Grand Prix for 9 days as I write this. In that time I have found the car to be comfortable & responsive. The Grand Prix was a replacement for my Monte Carlo which was a car I loved a lot. Even though I've only had this car a short time, so far, I'd have to give it a thumbs up. Up to this point, it has performed well. I'm not sure it would make a good family veh in the 2 door version, but if this isn't a factor or your family is still young then it could still be well worth a serious look. This list on mine was $24,100 but with a $2,000 rebate If you're looking for "personal" car that just might tell the world its "you". The Grand Prix is one choice that may fit your bill.

Model Reviewed: /Grand Prix GTP

Strength:

The best feature of this car would have to be the performance and handling. The GTP's 240hp V6 is quite impressive! Even the interior has the best dash controls layout and high-performance stereo I have ever seen in a car priced at $24,000.

Weakness:

There are quite a few minor details that can be annoying at times. Such as random noises, cracks, and squeaking noise. Nothing the dealer can't fix of course! Other than that, it runs great.

I paid about $29,000 for the 2000 grand prix GTP limited edition daytona pace car replica. Rather expensive, but with all the features it came it, for about $3,000 more than a regular GTP, it was well worth it. (anybody that has seen it would definately agree!) I would also recommend this car for anybody that wants a car thats practical for everyday use and long trips, as you would expect from any mid-size family sedan, yet offers the performance and handling you normally find in an expensive sports car! :-)
