Strength:

I love the aggressive body styling and adequate power it has. 200 horses is more than enough for this sedan since I've raced almost every car in it's class.....and I have'nt lost yet. Steering wheel radio controls are great!

Weakness:

I personally have'nt had any major problems on my GP. There is this annoying clicking on the front right passenger window...sounds like a cricket that makes noise for only a second. The service dept. sucks and I don't trust them working on my GP. I have the forest green metallic paint and it shows the smallest itty-bitty scratches on it. My arms have gotten bigger from waxing the paint.

I payed $22,265 with the 1SC package before taxes, but I have zero financing for five whole years. I really enjoy driving this car. Acceleration is fantastic even without the supercharger....i heard that the supercharger messes-up the engine faster in the long run anyway! My friends love riding in it and it's a very manly car. Although...with all the negative things I'm hearing about the 1997 and 1998 models GP's, I wouldn't recommend this car for new buyer's yet. Stay tuned for the long-term reviews for the 2000 and up Grand Prixs before making a descision. If I could do it all over again, I'd buy a Honda or a Toyota. This way, I have a peace of mind for the future life of my car!

My brother has a 2000 Eclipse GT and it seems to have a pretty good comparison in acceleration....but the Eclipse is a little faster.

This is my mothers car she got it when I was about 16 it was the first time i had ever seen one. I had everything leather, 12 disc cd player, heated seats, head up display, sun roof, powereverything, I thought this car was bad Ass. she bought it with about 7000 miles on it, and it had some kick ass EPIC wheels that really helped bring the car out. The car is black and even though it is a 98 I have not seen a gran prix that looks better than it. I took this car on prom this sucker could go 127. I was like holy ****. It was the fastest i have ever driven. It handles well.I recommend this car to anyone.

Weakness:

it has had a few problems, we live on a gravel road so the dash really sqeeks, the rear light had got stuck on after someone pushed it. The heater core broke. brakes act funny when it is wet.

the 240 horses kick ass. fast of the line and a good top end. not afraid of any mustang or camero. i hear you can turn up the supercharger to put out close to 300 horeses. the stereo i thought was better than most stock cars but there is room for improvment.

Strength:

Quick acceleration
great handling
fast (I topped at 135 so far)
very roomy yet compact
very reliable
let's just say if you were supposed to be somewhere an hour ago this car could make you right on time!

Weakness:

ahs tray/ciggerette lighter area rattles on dirt road a lot
combonation lock on the glove box is neat but kind of a b!tch
uses a lot of coolant
i didn't get a manual because i bought it used so i'm screwed on wiring info

I ripped the dealership off.. i said 1700 is all i can offer. They hadn't a price on the vehicle it had been there only an hour. They said fine and looked on the inventory price guide to see that settling that low on a beautifully restored and babied car kills on a sale that was set at 4000 at lowest.... lol

Strength:

Excellent vehicle,VERY QUICK for its size in fact almost could be considered fast, Head turner,Good cruiser over distance. Very comfortable at "higher" speeds.(Gotta keep an eye on the hud though...)Insurance rate is a pleasure for the amount of performance available.

Weakness:

Random squeaks from dash on regular pavement jointed roads.
OCCASIONAL light leaks into trunk from spoiler.
Kind of "cheapy" looking plastics used inside passenger compartment.
Gas milage around town.( I know I pay for the 240 BHP...But STILL)

I have enjoyed the heck out of this car. SO have the passengers I have carried with me! This is a wonderful, attentive, and assertive vehicle. I call it a "Performance Sedan" because the 4 doors + 240 BHP give you that feel...WANNA DRIVE IT ALL THE TIME!! Even if the kids are in the back.

I have had 2 passengers who rode with me in this car BUY THEIR OWN afterward!!

Strength:

Great Pontiac aggressive/sporty styling, strong engine, great handling, quite interior, color selection, just about everything about it!

Weakness:

CD Sound system could be better. Speakers are low quality.

Would highly recommend this car. With the price, quality, and styling of this car, there should be no reason to buy any Jap car in it's class.

Strength:

Power, looks, handling, size, luxury, and value. This car is fast. Will beat pre '99 Mustang GT's stock. Easily/cheaply modified. Lots of nice features. Fits 5 people comfortably. Cannot find a faster, more luxurious car for around $25,000, period.

Weakness:

The leather could be of higher quality. Only the driver seat is heated. Too much plastic on the interior. Needs better/sportier tires. Could use a stronger tranny.

I would definitely recommend the GTP. I paid a little over $24,000 for the GTP with the 1SC option package.

These cars are easily modified. For $100 you can put a smaller supercharger pulley on and gain about 30hp and 40ft-lbs of torque. With only the smaller pulley and a K&N filter, I ran 13.8 seconds at 96mph in the standing 1/4 mile. This car can be faster than stock Mustang GT's/Cobra's, M3's, Maxima SE's, Taurus SHO's, LT1 Firebird's/Camaro's, Impala SS's, etc. I also race (autocross) this car with the Sports Car Club of America and consistently beat modified Mustangs, Firebirds, and Camaro's.

There is a couple of very good web sites dedicated to Grand Prix's where you can find more information about the cars and modification to them. Club Grand Prix, Grand Prix Store, and GrandPrix.net.

FAR SUPERIOR CAR THAN MY PREVIOUS 1998 CADILLAC DEVILLE (WORST OD 23 NEW CARS THAT I HAVE OWNED. CHECK UNDER SPOILER FOR PAINT CHIPS, SPOILER FITS TOO CLOSE TO TRUNCK TO LET WATER FLOW OFF. WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS IN FUTURE. CAR HAS ABOUT 4M MILES ON IT, NO WARRENTY YET. I THINK CAR HAS A HARD TIME BREATHING OVER 4500 RPM. EXHAUST IS TOO RESTRICTIVE. WILL BE FIXING BOTH IN NEAR FUTURE. TIGHT CAR. BOSE STEREO WORKS GREAT, WOULD RECOMMEND...

Weakness:

REAR SPOILER, TOP END LIMITER

NICE CAQR, NO STRENGTHS PR WEAKNESSES, A GM COMPANY CAR.

Strength:

Looks awesome, I love the sleek front, and it has a pretty good sounding stereo system. Has a good engine, I've blown away a lot of cars with this thing. I love everything about it.

Weakness:

Don't like the cassette deck It came with, but I replaced it with an MD deck, other then that, it's perfect.

I got the greatest deal on this car, it's a '94 and I paid 2500 bucks from a private seller who was selling it for a company, and didn't care about profit. I would definately recommend this car, it's the best looking car you can get for it's price range, and has a great engine. GET THIS CAR!!!

Car has 90,000 + miles without any real problems. Runs super strong as it did from day 1. It has been super reliable and I'm afraid to sell it. It's been a super car and treated me very well. Still gets good gas mileage.

Weakness:

Didn't care for the factory stereo system. Brakes tend to get too wet in heavy rain(need to ride the brakes a bit to heat them up so they dry off)

I would definately recommend it. I have had it a couple years and have used it to commute around 35-40 miles to work every day. It has never let me down and still runs perfectly. Take care of a good quality car and it will take care of you. I cannot complain about it.

Strength:

Just about everything...great HP,handles extremely well, smooth ride, good on gas considering what's under the hood, interior has alot of leg room both front and back, headsup display is great, cockpit dials well placed, sporty looking for a "family car".

Weakness:

Cupholders too close to shifter and need to be deeper.Problem with rear defogger taking too long to clear window. Problem between stereo/built in aerial/rear speakers...had one blowup during a lightening storm a couple of months ago. Even after stereo was turned off there was loud static noises being heard that eventually blew one of the large speakers. Similar situation driving into work one morning....stormy sky, crackling coming through the one speaker (had been replaced already with dealers top of the line speaker for 1998 GTP model). Crackling did stop after stereo turned off this time.....my husband thinks it could be a problem with the connection in rear window defogger/aerial and maybe getting power surges...don't really know, but it has happened twice since owning this car. It was purchased July 13, 2000 and today is September 8, 2000. Any other owners out there experienced this???? Suggestions?????

$10,000.00 Canadian funds + the 1997 Grand Prix SE as a trade-in.
I would definatley recommend this car.It handles well, comfortable (we have a 70 KMS commute daily to work),affordable, stylish, good gas mileage, great looking family vehicle...would still buy the 4door model again once the kids are on their own...
