Strength:

Great looking car, one of the best engines (3.8) ever mass produced. Great value for the money. Dollar for dollar nothing comes close.

Weakness:

2000 tire rims look better than the 2001 rims.

I highly recommend this car as a great buy. Sporty styling, safe to drive as indicated by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (www.hwysafty.org). Consumer Reports states "This styish sedan delivers better than average all-round performance." Its also one of only a few GM products recommended by CR.

Hmmm... gets you from point A to point B (usually).

Weakness:

Everything else.

I had nothing but trouble with this thing throughout the two years I owned it. I purchased it in 1997 with about 60,000 miles and everything seemed to be in good shape. Two years and 20,000 miles later I had put so much money into this car just to keep it running that I felt like I was making a BMW payment (alternator, brakes, head gasket, you name it)! One day I was driving along and the rear view mirror fell off the windshield into the floor. Is this what you expect of your car at 75,000 miles?

I paid $7,000 for it in 1997 and when a dealership offered me $2,000 for it in 1999 I was VERY glad to take it. By that time the AC, power windows, and power locks didn't work, there was a horrible rattling/buzzing noise on the highway, and the cruise control wouldn't hold, among other problems. The interior plastics were even falling apart.

I know of two other Grand Prix owners (newer model years than mine) that had similar problems. Why buy this car? I would suggest you look elsewhere. The new ones look nice and have some power, but think about reliability and resale value. This was/is the last GM car we will ever purchase, and may be the last domestic car we buy of any type. I traded this car in for a Mitsubishi Galant and we also own a Nissan Maxima. We haven't been to a mechanic in so long I wouldn't know who to go to if we had a problem, and both our cars have over 50,000 miles on them. Do yourself a favor, buy a car with a history of reliability and say goodbye to your mechanic.

Strength:

-Acceleration
-torque
-heated seat(!!!)

Weakness:

Handling could be better, same with dash looks.

Great deal for a car with the L67 engine under the hood. Love the supercharger, change the pulley to 3.4" and gain an easy extra 30hp.

Strength:

Good acceleration, fully loaded, nice steering, good gas mileage on highway, good starter, lumbar seats are excellent, alot of trunk space, rides very smoothly, very sporty, good stereo system, sunroof/moonroof, great first car, very reliable.

Weakness:

brakes are terrible, struts needed to be replaced, door handles very touchy when wet from rain or after it has been washed, tranny shifts late, bad headlights, electric locks are bad, painting chipping off of front fender because it is plastic. The car has 145,000 miles on it and it has been an excellent car. it runs great but i had to put a little $$ into it.

When i bought the car about 3 months ago the struts had to be
replaced from the beginning. With the car being 12 years old it is in e
excellent shape. EVERYTHING is power, there is even a digital compass.
I am very impressed with it. People are amazed at the options it has.
The road handling is very impressive and i would recommend this car
to anyone who appreciates the Driving Excitement. The car is extremely
fun and being a teenager it is especially a plus!!

Strength:

Love the power! Lots of head turning when driving by.

Weakness:

within two months, the starter was replaced. A trunk knocking sounds when driving on rippled roads or construction areas (service dept. denies the problem, been in twice for this). Water spray from the spoiler if trunk opens too fast. Front lights have dew at times. Wish the headroom was about another inch taller. The transmission is slipping (in the shop as we speak)only when reversing and putting into drive (not at the light).

I have had a great experience with my zoom zoom GT. I added stripping and tinted windows for the classic Grand prix race. Buy it! you'll love it!

I tried out the Mustang, Intrepid, and the Alero. Grand Prix kicks A** comparing to them all. Mustang doesnt have the room for friends. Intrepid's back seat is so uncomfortable for long travels and the Alero does didnt do it for me.

Strength:

Great exceleration and very dependible. Car body has not rusted and there are no signs of future rust.

Weakness:

VERY poor brake system. No cup holders that can fit a normal size cup. Squecky window when being rolled up. And blinker system is failing after only 8 years!

This car has great power and excellent handling and has a lot of luxery, that is why I rate it a 3 but it is the small things that make a difference. The small things such as poorly designed brakes that wear out in less than a year and a faulty blinker system always rides heavily on my mind in the safety factor. But the older the car gets the more problems you will have. Time to trade in a purchase another car.

Strength:

Fast car. Lots of horse power.
Looked great, hooked up a little it will turn heads.
Descent amount of space.
Comfortable.

Weakness:

Bit of gas guzzler but the engine is supercharged.
Brakes should have been better for a fast car.
I have only had it for just over a year and it has been in the shop a bunch of times.
Cheap interior parts.
Interior fell apart.
Rattles alot.

The car was alright but you can get a much better made car for the same price. It was fun to drive but don't pull any drastic moves at very high speeds. I would not buy yhis car again because it was in the shop about five times in less than a year (warranty covered).

For the same price, go with a maxima or passat. Better quality if you don't mind sacrificing a minimal amount of speed.

Exterior Styling, Performance, Brakes, Stereo, Heads-up-display, Steering

Weakness:

Headroom for tall persons when equiped with a Sunroof, Interior Parts Quality (somewhat cheap looking)

The styling and performance of this car are great. Gas mileage is great for general highway driving (+28Mpg). The seats arent' too bad, but could be better (I do have bad back though). Even with the driver's seat lowered all the way, my head (6'2") hits the roof due to the sun roof.
And finally, the interior components could definitly be improved appearance wise.

Strength:

Great Acceleration, Superb steering & handling.
Excellent highway driving. Very roomy
A car easy to fall in love with. It presents itself beautifully.

Weakness:

To be perfectly honest, I cannot foresee any major problems.
Any previous problems from the past have been rectified.

I have been a GTP owner for 2 weeks and I am totally thrilled with my
purchase. I am very well versed with the car market and can confidently
say this car tops the charts with respect to performance, looks, style,
value for money, safety, and roominess.
Bottomline, I am also very patriotic to North American vehicles.
This is the car of the millenium.
p.s. silver metallic with black tints is awesome. To die for.
