Good gas mil. and looks.

Weakness:

Intake gasket leek at 70,000 mi. Gas gage fix and is still way off. Cooling system sucks from day one, runs hot if you turn on the ari from day one. Dash noise after they put in the new gas gauge, Pontiac wouldn't look for it. it's in my head. lights & blows fuse if you use lighter.

First and last Pontiac! GM JUNK. GOT A 93 3500 TRUCK 4x4 AND 95 GRAND AM. Fix FIX FIX and put up with the noise and stuff that don't work. If GM didn't get in to ISUZA I would get anuther one.Had two that went over 160,000 all I put on them was rubber & brake pads.

It is reliable in the sense that it starts up. Gets OK gas mileage.

Weakness:

Dash noise Lights Gas gauge Heating System And many more...

This car is junk! The headlights randomly go out (good thing it has fog lights that work!) and the gas gauge has never worked. The dash rattles and makes an awful racket! Now there is a problem with the defroster and floor vents not working.

fast, looks good, comfy, sound system good.

Weakness:

major engine design flaes which will go bad in nearly all of them, and will cost the consumer quite a chunk of change.

great looking, fastish, good gas mileage, just fun to drive, comfy, good sound system. But the repairs are starting to anger me. power steering pump, now intake gasket leaks, as a matter of fact i have found this to be such a large problem that there is a list of nearly 5,000 people with this problem. more info can be found at http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/ I am done with this car as soon as I can get rid of it, I am getting a Ford.

Sporty looking compact car Great gas mileage Always started right away - on first crank. Smooth ride 0-100 mph without any shaking

Weakness:

EXPENSIVE repair bills - they always charge there inflated labor time, even if repaired much sooner. Annoying persistent rattling in dashboard - I think the Radio was replaced without all mounting screws returned- it drove me crazy for the last 60,000 miles.

Bought the car with only 6000 miles. Things replaced under warranty: 1. Hood opener control wire 2. Alternator 3. Radio (randomly off/on) After 30,000 miles (not under warranty): 1. Brakes shoes/pads often 2. Spark plug coil housing 3. Heater coil 4. A/C compressor 5. Evaporator 6. Timing belt adjuster At 111,000 miles, slow coolant leak caused enginer to overheat. Spent $1000 to replace water pump and seals between oil and coolant withing engine. Ran fine afterwards - no water in oil. At 120,000 - low compression in cylinder#4. Repair shop wants $1600 for valve job. But, I am worried that something else will go wrong soon after. Decided to dump it.

Strength:

Powerfull engine, Roomy, good in gas (20-25mpg hwy), good road handling (holds it as a cat)

Weakness:

Poor Suspention, weak cooling system, trunk too small.

Well, for those who like to learn mechanic, this is the right car for you... Even that it's a really powerfull car, I've drive different cars and no one give me that feeling of power like this one. With 131K I've been thru so many problems: Cooling system: I had to replace the whole thing, from the heater core to water pump and hoses. Charging system: Blew a brand new battery and the alternator went twice already, not mentioning that before the 2nd time blew 2 computers. Suspention syst is the worse ever and so often I have to do balancing 'cause chake like crazy when over 45 mph. It overheats even when parked and don't even try to use the A/C. Now I'm dealing with brake problems and if you like "road music" just listen to the dash board noise...it's loose. For a sporty looking car there's not after market parts to upgrade or improve hp and economy.

Weakness:

Unreliable, could decide not to start. This is very embarrassing when your out with friends.

Very Unreliable. Every now and then, it simply won't start. I've had it in the shop twice already for no start, had to get it towed in. Even when it will start, it's difficult. I have to crank it for 3-4 seconds before it will turn over. This is not what I expected from a brand new car. Service was unable to diagnose problem this last time, so I'm just waiting for it to happen agian. I wish it ran well, because I love the car! Leather, XM radio, smooth ride with nice acceleration...

Strength:

Excellent bang for your buck , power , handles good if your payin attention to the road. Awesome traction. Durable engine.

Weakness:

If your battery is weak , your performance is weak. If you use boosted fuel enhancers , watch your spark plugs. The plugs like to turn into glow plugs and cause premature detonation.

I have owned my GA for 2 1/2 years. Its been an extremely reliable car considering i put 80,000kms on it last year alone, Not one break down. The power was satisfactory , but with after market intakes and exhaust it made a 30% increase in performance. I had a few problems with minor repairs but overall im happy with it. This car out handles and punches off the line better than a Mustang Gt no problem and if easy on the pedal can maintain up to 42.5 miles to the gallon. 0-60mph in 6 1/5 seconds. and hits 108mph in 12 seconds. A stock GA will do 0-60mph in roughly 9-10 seconds. Note - the GT ram system doesnt really work untill your over 30mph. My cold air intake with polished ports added an easy 100 hp at the engine. The limiter off , i achived 247kmh , took awhile but i did it. The mods costed me about $4000 cnd. Gonna buy a supercharger , adds extra 80 hp and costs $4000 - $6000 cnd. Im havin too much fun.

Weakness:

Haven't really uncovered any yet that couldn't have been caused by the fact that like 300 or so other people drove this car before I did and not everyone respects vehicles. My cupholder that is supposed to come out of the middle console is missing. I didn't realize it until later. Look for things like that! Trust me!

I bought my car in spt. of 2003. My only mistakes with this car were buying a car that had been used as a rental and buying it from a FORD Dealer! Ford certified mechanics cannot, repeat, CANNOT fix a Pontiac. There's something wrong with my driver's side headlamp. It will be dim one day, with my Service Vehicle Soon light on, and then I get back in it after work (somtimes only FOUR hours), and it's at full brightness again and my SVS light is off. I was told this problem was fixed...TWICE! Guess what. It's not. And now I don't have the money to take it to a Pontiac dealer and get it actually fixed right, because, it most likely wouldn't be covered under my extended warranty, seeing as how the Ford place told me it was "fixed" twice. So maybe this product has a problem with headlights. I asked a Pontiac technician, but he said no. You never know, though, so I don't know. OK enough problems. I LOVE THIS CAR! Love it! They say it goes 0 to 60 in 10.10 seconds(I got the 4 cylinder, sadly. Gas prices are crazy lately!) Oh, it goes faster then that! This car has POWER you can feel and hear. It purrs like a kitten:D And it's such a...sexy, powerful looking car. There are about six other Grand Ams or Grand Prix's in my tiny little apt parking lot alone. There's about five more parking lots in this complex. All the parking lots have at least THREE GAs or GPs. This car is a great car for someone like me, who needs four doors because of a child, yet want to feel like they're drivin something OTHER then a family car. It's sort of a new-generation fmaily car. And I LOVE my paint job. The dealership called it metallic brown. It's brown, but can look purple and once in awhile blue or greenish. And it always looks glittery. I love how roomy the car is. The trunk is just the right size for strollers, with room left over. Hard to find in a car that isn't a whale. There just are too many GOOD things I can say about this car! I'm in love! And it also has a pretty rockin' factory sound system. And the CD player will play burned CD's! Some factory players refuse to play em. I also live in a place where the climate goes between extremes. It can be 80 degrees F. one day, then 20 degrees the next. Sometimes it gets over 110, every couple years it can get 90 below with windchill. This car STARTS in 100 degree weather and minus zero weather. That is a MUST in my state. One more thing about my car(I know, this is so rambling!), it's gettin some pretty crappy gas mileage, but I was told it just needs a tuneup, maybe some new spark plugs. so we'll try that out, see how it goes. OVERALL........I'm thrilled! Thanks to GM for making yet another awesome vehicle! My family and my fiancee's family are GM families! (except my mom, she hasnt learned yet! She's drivin a Bronco and NOT happy with it. She should have stuck with her Suburban.)

Once you drive it, you have to have it! My fiance has this, and has never had a problem with it that wasn't human error. Dont drive through flooded parking lots with huge rain puddles with this car, it's far too low! I told him not to. It flooded the engine we needed to replace the um..I can't remember. But Chevy takes care of us! I highly recommend Chevy, as well)

Gear shifter Gas tank Side panel decorations Battery problems

I've had nothing but trouble with this car. Once again it is in the shop. Something keeps draining the battery and the dealership replaces the battery and a couple of weeks later the car won't start again. Also had the gas tank come loose and the repair man told us to beat it back in place and then start the car. The balloon that tells you how much gas you have broke. Had that replaced. The gear shifter got stuck in park and even the tow truck driver had trouble getting it loaded to take it to the shop. Had to take it back twice for that problem. Side panel decorations are trying to come off. Reclining arm on passenger seat broke off. Passenger seat will not stay in position and has to be moved all the way back, then forward. Well, that's all I can think of right now. Give me another month and I'm sure new problems will arise.
