Strength:

V6 engine, great pickup, decent gas miles, great perks (i.e. stereo, leather interior, in stearing controls, sunroof). Handles really well around tight turns at high speeds.

Weakness:

Way too many problems for a car with under 30,000 miles on it. Brakes, brakes, brakes, roters were warped had to be cut then replaced, brakes pads have already replaced. Fog lights have shorted out 5 times already. Rack & Pinion Power steering replaced (after 15 days in the shop), heater blew out. Headlight had a leak, replaced. There also seems to be a leak somewhere in the sunroof. Trunk relay switch shorted out after 500 miles. Too much time in the shop the dealer thas it more than I do. A real LEMON!!!!!

Great Look, powerful, excels great, too many problems.I drive a lot about 500 miles a week. Very comfortable I have long legs, its got plenty of room. Stereo sounds good since thats all I get to do while stuck in traffic. Bucket seats are very comfortable so is the lumbar support. Other than comfort features not much else. Too many problems not enough patience. If I wanted a car that was in the shop every 3 months I would have purchased a used car. For some reason brakes and fog lights go out at the same time every three months like clockwork. Pontiac has finally agreed to extended my warranty to 75,000 miles. Car rentals while under warranty forget it. My car was in for repairs for 15 days and Pontiac has refused to reimburse me for car rental costs.

Strength:

GREAT acceleration, and nice, tight handling. No problems cornering, as reported elsewhere. I''m 6 ft. and have an ass to rival Mick Foley''s, but I have no problems with interior room. Legs have decent room to roam, and I don''t scrunch my head against the ceiling if I sit straight up. At a decade old, the stereo still pumps out great sound. Lots of places to put stuff, though you better make sure all beverages come in sealable bottles. The headlight control is even on the dashboard, where it''s supposed to be. Headlights are bright, and the brights could communicate with the international spacestation if you could get the right angle. Did I mention the acceleration?

Weakness:

Brakes aren''t quite up to the task--you get used to them, but driving gingerly at first is a good idea. Too much plastic crap on the outside...I had to coat-hangar that flimsy lower front section in place after either parking too much over a section of compacted snow or hitting an animal. Side moldings suck, and the paint on the hood is chipping a bit. Windows roll stiff and backwards. Wiper spray goes for an automatic 5 second burst when you push it (no rhyme or reason to the button configuration--just bang it twice and it goes...if you drive one, you''ll understand). As with any car I''ve driven, the wiper spray commits you to several automatic swipes by the wipers, so you''re in for some major smearing if you''ve just run out of fluid. Horn is used by pushing one of two oblong buttons on the outside of the inner part of the steering wheel...push the middle, and you''ll be swearing at both the guy who cut you off AND General Motors. In general, very superficial stuff here; this is a great car.

First of all, this car was an upgrade from a chronicly ill (though still alive to this day) ''89 Tempo. I''d been looking for months, but was always too cheap to pull the trigger. Finally, a buddy announced that his brother was getting a new car and putting the Grand Am up for sale. For 1,300 bucks, I was a taker. From October 2000 to February 2001, I''ve put on another 3,500 miles (she''s up to 110k) and made a additional $800 in overdue repairs. She came with a new alternator and fuel pump, and I added two new tires, a starter, a right front wheel bearing, and a different spindle out of the junkyard for the right front as well. She''s held up well, and I anticipate smooth sailing for at least a little while. I was close to taking the plunge and getting a new vehicle--especially when interest rates were 0% everywhere--but I''m glad I stayed with the much more cost-effective used vehicle route. This isn''t much of a review summary, is it? Oh well, I''ll make up for it...

Looks nice, good stereo, comfortable, a little pep

Weakness:

OLD!! Some cheap interior parts, problem with AC condensor

I have a 92 four banger with 175,000 miles on it. It is my daily driver and overall I have had no problems with it. Around 98,000 miles it blew the head but luckily it was still under warranty:) Since then, I have had to replace the brakes twice and new tires twice along with a new timing belt. I also had to replace the distributor cap? Considering this engine does not have spark plug wires I don''t exactly know what to call it. Overall, I have been very pleased with this car and I am planning on buying a 2002 GT1 in the upcoming months.

LOOKS AWESOME, GOOD GAS MILEAGE, ROOMY

Weakness:

BRAKES, ALTENATOR, ALL AROUND QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT

I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS CAR (QUAD-4 ENGINE). I BOUGHT IT AND NOT EVEN 30 DAYS LATER, I HAD TO CHANGE AN ALTENATOR. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS NOW AND JUST 4 DAYS AGO PUT MY 7TH NEW ALTENATOR ON THIS MACHINE. IT IS ROOMY, BUT AFTER 60,000 MILES, IT HAS GONE COMPLETELY DOWNHILL. MY ABS SYSTEM IS ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE. I AM PUTTING IT IN THE SHOP TODAY TO HAVE THE HEATER CORE REPLACED AND THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED. I HAVE PUT OUT ON THIS CAR ALMOST AS MUCH AS I HAD FINANCED!

Weakness:

power windows never worked only when they wanted to.

I have to say that this was our families first newer vehicle we had ever bought and it was awful. It had been in the shop alot. I had problems with antifreeze leaking at 27,000 miles, I had so many motors replaced for all the windows. The power windows would always get stuck up or down. It seemed like I had it in the shop alot. We finally got rid of it @ 70,000 miles and went to a 1990 Ford Probe (no car payment) and a 1992 Plymouth Voyager (no car payment) and these cars have been more reliable, with no problems ,than the 97 Grand am which I had a car payment on. Would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Strength:

Engine strength, handling, looks, good stock stereo, looks awesome when waxed and cleaned.

Weakness:

Blind spots, acceleration could be better (probably because the car is heavy), starting the engine is a problem sometimes, ugly wheels, the car is basically ugly without a spoiler, THE INSIDE IS SO CHEAP IM NOT JOKING!! The knobs are like toys, the dash is unappealing, and the seats are so cheap.

The car is pretty good looking but you get bored of it after a while. It''s a good performer and does the job. You can call is a sports sedan. Bought the car new and had to replace injector right away. Basically a cheap american car like they all are.
