Weakness:

See above.

I recently rented an Aztec -- I needed a car with lots of storage space, and Avis was almost giving them away. Now I know why. This car, especially from the rear, is the ugliest thing on 4 wheels! Not only that, but the rear window/door has a bar right in the middle that splits your vision in the rear view mirror. I found the car's performance generally satisfactory, although I thought the acceleration on hills was pretty inadequate.

Strength:

Tons of room and plenty of power for our purposes. We definately never loose it in a parking lot.

Weakness:

Other Tek drivers don't wave back.

My wife and I love this car. We were looking at the Santa fe but I didn't fit very well (6'3"). At first we didn't like the looks of the Tek but saw a black 2003 model in the showroom and once we sat inside we fell in love.

* Character / Uniqueness * Room * Versatility * Storage * Driveability

Weakness:

* Rear hatch sticks * Black molding paint fades * Vehicle rolls backward/foreward when on an incline

Great vehicle!!! It is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I do everything in it. I purchased this vehicle used. It was a demo the service manager had used. He passed on the tent package and mattress to me when I bought the car. The car is very roomy and has a certain practical german feel to it. It has many storage compartment in the rear. Cargo nets come in very handy ( groceries, wet clothes etc). It is also much quicker than I expected a vehicle of this size would be. I love blowing by people and seeing the look on their faces. Gas mileage is also descent. Thought it would be worse, but no complaints. I have the red Aztec with the gray body molding, and to be honest,...I would not have it any other way. It gives it more character when compared with the 2002 models. Also, rolling shopping carts get rejected by the body molding and bounce right off. I do have a problem with the vehicle rolling when it is in drive facing up a steep incline. After you put it in drive and take your foot off of the brake pedal, the vehicle rools backward until you apply the break or give it some gas. Can be pretty scary!!

Roomy, Fun to drive and also fun to watch others go by. Aztec owners in Toronto wave to one another when passing, just like riding my motorcycle again.

Weakness:

Look at Product Review section.

Well I'm in my 4th month of driving my Yellow Aztec and I still like it. At 4000kms I've had it in the shop for brake noise when braking easy. The rear hatch does not always open when you push the release button once, pust it a couple of times to get it to open. A few times I have put the Aztec in park and the doors did not unlock like they are suppose to. When I tried to take it out of park it would not do it until I shut the car off and re-started it. I got the tent (no mattress) and set it up in less than 30 minutes. Looks great all set up. Being Yellow, I have put "Tonka" stickers on it. Everyone looks and laughs and always makes a comment. "WISH WE COULD POST A PHOTO OF OUR AZTEC'S"

Strength:

It's roomy. It drives well. It's easier to find in the parking lot (not a lot of Aztecs in Fairbanks, AK!).

Weakness:

BEWARE of wheel bearings once your car gets up in mileage. That is the problem I am experiencing now. At 35,000 miles a front wheel bearing went. At 37,000 miles a rear wheel bearing went. They are not servicable(according to the dealership) and have to be replaced. The front was covered under warranty and the dealership good willed my warranty to cover the back. I've got 2 more wheel bearings to go. Apparently Pontiac is aware that they have a problem and are working on it, but I'm not looking forward to replacing wheel bearings every 35,000 miles! Plus, I'd like some more color options- such as green and maybe even purple.

I like the damn thing. It looks odd, but that rather fits who I am. I wanted a green one, but only 2001 came in green. Why is that? So I have a blue one. I've driven it cross country from NJ to WA to AZ and then up to AK. It drives well- even in the AK winter. I got the camping package, but it's just as easy and comfortable to set up a tent (and probably less expensive!).

Roomy, good ride, decent fuel mileage, versatile.

Weakness:

Blindspots but you get used to em

Enjoy the (uggggggh) car???? very much. Id buy another one tomorrow. Ive used it for everything from a moving to a camper and it's worked great at whatever it does. The comments I get wherever I go are fun. Just the thing for someone that likes to be the butt of a good joke. In 14 months Ive put 23000 miles on the thing and have never taken back to dealer.

Strength:

It is very versatile and has tons of conveniences, if it will stay running!!

Weakness:

It is an inconvenience to have to bring it into the shop every time something goes wrong, which is quite often.

I will never buy another Pontiac again. My car has been in the shop at least 10 times since I bought it. The rear hatch does not openly properly when using the remote key. The shock is not strong enough for the glass. An emission component went out. The service vehicle soon light came on and the dealer could not find out why. Currently it is in the shop for an oil leak. It only has 27,000 miles on it. I have had problems with it rolling backward when on a hill.

Strength:

A wonderful SRV so far. I like the fuel economy, it beats the CHEVY/GMC gas hog SUV like the Blazer and is as good as my Ford Explorer. All cars have issues and I am a Pontiac owner, but I own other cars as well.

Weakness:

This darn issue with the transmission not holding the car in place on a hill is keeping my dealers Service Manager busy... I am not a whinner and I have never had an isssue that GMC would not stand behind, if you do you don't know how to handle yourself and your relationship with your dealer and you might have problems. You catch more Bee's with Honey than you do with Vinegar... Please no whinning... I have to question what whether some of the reviewers do the scheduled maintance as they should, my dealer does free oil changes for the life of the car, we are religious about the upkeep and I always buy an additional warranty even though my Aztec is still under the Factory Warranty.

Just bought my Aztec. Saw them all over Florida when they were first introduced, personally I could care less about what people think about the looks, that's just their option. Mine is very roomy and has all the bells and whistles. I bought a 2 wheel drive version as I have a Ford Explorer and have never used the 4 wheel drive... It's a great ride and I like the fuel mileage and I hate Vans and Mini vans. What I am writing is to find out whether others are experiencing a problem that I am? When I put the car in grear on an incline I find the car will not fold the car in place after I remove my foot from the brake. The car drifts either forward or backwards depending on what gear you are in and the direction of travel. Example: I drive (forward) uphill and stop, I remove my foot from the brake and in the short period of time that it takes to place my foot on the gas peddle the car begins to drift backwards... and it would continue to do so until I either give it fuel or replace my foot on the brake. The same is true if I am parked in my driveway (which is on a slight incline) which the car would drift into my garage... YIKES! The dealer is working on the issue, which we believe that will take a "chip" reprograming to make the transmission pressure come up to hold the hills. Anyone experiencing this problem? This could be traggic in my humble opinion, especially if you had kids in the car and the driver paniced under the circumstances. Please let me know. I am going to test drive a 2003 to see if the issue shows up in the newer models. PLEASE check to see if you have the same issue and please don't tell me to learn to drive with two feet.

Strength:

Comfort, handling and cargo space. It turns on a dime. Visability is fantastic.

Weakness:

I can't reall find anything about this car I don't like.

In spite of the many negative comments about the Aztek, it is the best vehicle that I have ever owned. It is quiet, responsive, provides a very smooth ride and can hold just about anything I have to move. Great gas mileage and provides a very solid, comfortable feel.

Similar Products Used:

I have driven just about everything out there, many times. my friend has a Lexus SUV and the Aztek has more room, rides much better and has a turning radius that is much tighter than the Lexus.
