Strength:

We love all of the room the Aztec gives us. Styling is not a problem with us at all.

Weakness:

A/C problems, Mileage could be better.

My wife and I love our Aztec. Ours has 91000 miles and going great. Yes I also had the A/C compressor go out and 1000.00 later, that has been the only problems that we have had. We have added "nurf" bars and sheilding for the sunroof.

Strength:

Nice looks, nice ride, good mileage.

Weakness:

Obvioulsy poor quality control in manufacture. Cheap unreliable parts. Wont ever buy another Pontiac product. Very, very disapointed.

Nice vehicle, smooth ride, secure feeling. A/C condenser went out due to poor intallation. Mounting straps cut into the coil causing failure. After many phone calls Pontiac did replace even though it was out of warranty. Called it a "Good Will" replacement. 2 months after completion A/C is out again due to a short somewhere in the wireing. Dealing with that now......WHATS NEXT

Strength:

leg room, hauling capacity, visibility, stereo system, luggage rack

Weakness:

air conditioner compressor went out at 56,000 miles. Luckily I had purchased the extended warranty. Rusting of exposed metal, rear bumper clip loosens, rolls forward to much when you put it in park.

I love this SUV! It's a heavy car that really hugs the curves. I love all the interior room. It's odd looking, but I like being different. I went camping in it for the first time and it was great!

Similar Products Used:

Test drove Liberty and Escape, but bought the Aztek on impulse. Not sorry I did because the other 2 have had even more problems.

I have had my 2002 Aztek for 18 months and have babied it all the way. I do drive many miles to work however. My A/C just went out at 42000 miles. I am very unhappy about it and want to see if I have any rights to get Pontiac to replace the system.

Strength:

Fantastic handleing. Can spin 360 on a dime. Tons of cargo space, that is easy to use. Rear seats slide in and out without too much work. Rides smooth like a car. No feeling of roll over. Can always find it in the parking lot!

Weakness:

Air conditioning went out completly before a year.covered. Brakes had to be replaced at 26k miles. not covered. Wheel wells are completly rusting out. not covered. Rear Hatch very difficult to unlatch. Never opens with just 1 click of the button. Gas cap has no locking mechanism

I fell in love with the "ugliest" car on the lot. Attention grabber. I have become a designated driver on all road trips because everyone enjoys the smooth ride and comfortable seating. Big value in a small package

Have owned a Rocky ,Samari, and Tracker,This was the best one for comfort and drivability. For mechanical integrity I give it an F-. GM has made a poorly crafted vehickle that they are not standing be

Love the looks, the ride, the drive.

Weakness:

Too many mechanical problems! Too expensive!!

We loved the Aztek when we first bought it. We loved it so much, we bought another one--red and yellow--ketchup and mustard! This summer the air conditioning went on the red one--$800 to replace condenser! A month later the transmission went on the yellow one! Megabucks to repair that! Less than 50,000 miles on each--but, of course, not covered by warranty...Yikes! I loved these cars! But am learning by reading remarks here--the problems seem to be consistent! Help! Is it just the year? It was the first for this model...I have never had these problems on any other vehicle I've owned...

Strength:

Plenty of room for the kids.

Weakness:

I have children, with the above said, I need something more reliable. Hey GM, if your trying to cut your expenses, take it out of Administration salaries instead of quality product.

Getting disappointed. Had the vehicle for only 6 months. Now the car won't start, will be the 3rd time taking the vehicle back to the dealership. I thought GM was trying to work on their quality product issue. Cheap interior, back latch works when it wants to, faulty mechanisms. Hey GM, does this sound like quality? I think I'll switch to Ford.

Strength:

Rides like a Buick. Comfortable, roomy, and quiet. Back seat has nice leg room. Great gas mileage. Roomy cargo space.

Weakness:

It's so odd looking. It has a terrible blind spot. The bar across the back window will drive you nuts until you get used to it -- it's like having a bifocal in a car window! I'm waiting for the next big item to go out like the AC did.

Was fairly pleased with this vehicle until the air conditioning system went out at 40,000 miles. Didn't have an extended warranty but dealer talked Pontiac into going 50/50 on the repair out of all fairness. I purchased this a year old and had lots of quirks to work out while under warranty. Rear hatch latch still works when it wants to. It is such a unique looking vehicle. I often hear how it is the "ugliest car ever" but I can spot it from far away in a parking lot! My teenager hates to be seen in it.

Strength:

Definitely gets attention.

Weakness:

Concerned about the maintenance on the vehicle, with only 25,000 miles and religiously getting my oil changed, tires rotated, etc. at the recommended times. I’m worried that it will come off the factory warranty and hit me with a big expense, glad I bought the extended warranty now.

I love my yellow Aztek. Only a few minor problems, ie the blind spots, rear hatch release, etc. but I got used to them. My latest problems are bigger, three weeks ago at 24,000 miles I had to replace the head gasket due to oil leaking all around. Luckily it was under warranty, but it was a pain to have it in the shop for 3 days while the parts were on the way and having a rental car. Today I blew a hose on the power steering while running errands around town. Good thing I was near the dealership instead of on my 20-mile commute, but I wasted all morning getting it in the shop and picking up the rental car for today.

Car was roomy and drove good.

Weakness:

Poor repair record. If your not worried about paying high repair bills this car would be ok.

We purchased Aztec two and a half years ago. We took very good care of it chaging the oil every 2000 to 3000 miles and keeping all other maintanance up. We just found out that the Aztec has a blown head gasket. Over $1,000 to repair.
