Olds Cutlass Supreme
Strength:
Sporty styling. Excellent handling. Superior performance.
Weakness:
Console cup holder is inconveniently located near the gear shift. (a minor inconvenience) Based on my experience with this car, I would highly recommend the Olds Cutlass. No major problems. Routine maintenance only. Similar Products Used: Pontiac Bonneville. Loved it too! |

2 Dr. Cutlass Supreme 3.1
Strength:
Good Power from the 3.1 V6, Comfortable, Roomy, Nice Style, Size, Gas Mileage, Bright Headlights, Large Trunk, Paint has held up well, Handles Well, Color of Dash lighting is unique(bluish-teal color with yellow needles on gauges), VERY RELIABLE.
Weakness:
A day or so ago the key switch began messing up. I guess thats why GM made a door key. Same thing happened to my old Blazer. GM must make bad key locks and expect people to use the door key. What a crock. I have been locking the car up with the ignition key stuck in the key lock. Tomorrow my mechanic is replacing the key lock. My car has 135,500 miles and is NOT FALLING APART. Everything is still working fine. There are no bumps, rattles, squeaks, shakes, or any body structure problems. The engine and transmission are the originals. Nothing has been worked on except regular maintenance(belts, oil, spark plugs, etc.) Always starts up. They are safe and very well-built cars. Do not let a review stating after 100,000 miles they fall apart. They don't unless you treat them like crap. Mine has been taken care of, so it isn't falling apart. My next car will be the Oldsmobile Alero, another GOOD AMERICAN CAR. Similar Products Used: 1993 Chevrolet Blazer |

Cutlass Supreme SL
Strength:
Smooth, comfortable, powerful. A lot of power for a 3.1 engine. Plenty of room for a family of four. Nice looking, but not too flashy (don't have to worry about theft too much). Nice quite ride on smooth roads. Excelent family car. Not a very good car for fast drivers (the ride is very smooth, and you tend to be moving faster than you feel like you are, and hitting a corner too fast in one of these front weel drive cars can be deadly). Very good built in security system (can't even put the car in neutral without the key, microchip in key, locking stearing wheel, hidden trunk release, engine kill, etc).
Weakness:
Very difficult to make the simplest repairs (the engine has to be lifted in order to change the spark plugs. The water reservior, a fuse box, and a reinforcement rod have to removed in order to change the battery). Despite the downfalls, the Cutlass is a good family car. You can feel safe, in control, and have plenty of power. I would however recomend you get rid of it when the odometer gets to around 95,000 miles. I would also suggest not buying a used one with more than 90,000 miles on it, unless you're getting it for dirt cheap, because a lot of money will have to be put into repairing it after it reaches 100,000 miles. Similar Products Used: None. I've driven many differnt kinds of cars. The Cutlass is comparable to most other large cars as far as comfort and cabin convenience, but no experience with repairing anything similar. |

Strength:
The design (sporty yet very roomy), very quiet ride, modernized interior from previous models, Fuel efficiency, large trunk. I have the 3.1 V6 engine that has approx 160 bhp that very responsive when extra push is needed. Right now there is approx 110,000 kms on it and I have put no money towards it for repairs (other than regular maintenance, a set of tires and some brake work)
Weakness:
the 1997 model has a loud ticking noise in the engine when it is cold. When the engine warms up, the noise goes away. The mechanic told me that the 1997 model has the valve noise but there is no problem with it. So far so good! The base stereo really needs to be improved. The delco system that comes standard is very cheap and distorts rather easily. Considering that 1997 was the last year of production for the Cutlass, I would still highly recommend it to anyone who is or isn't a GM Person. It has very low maintenance costs and very little work is required on it. It comes standard with dual side air bags which makes being a passenger a little more comforting. There are many of these cars on the road which just goes to prove that people know that the Cutlass is a very exceptional vehicle. Similar Products Used: 1990 Ford Taurus. Similar in ride and performance, but cutlass is superior in design and quality. |

Cutlass GLS
Strength:
Very good value for the money. The car is loaded, to include leather seats, CD player, and just about every power accessory imaginable. It's a good looking car and on a few occasions has been mistaken for a Lexus. It is very powerful and gets pretty decent gas mileage.
Weakness:
The handling is a little sloppy. There also seems to be some problem with the electrical system. The low coolant light or ABS light sometimes comes on while driving despite the fact that there was no problem with either the coolant or ABS. We stayed away from GM cars for 12 years because our last one ('87 Buick Century Estate Wagon)was poorly built. Our experience with the Olds seems to be showing that GM is starting to get its act together. Unfortunately, the Cutlass is no longer being built and you have to buy it as a Chevy Malibu instead. Similar Products Used: '95 Ford Taurus. The Cutlass is superior in just about every way. |

Strength:
Reliable, over 150,000 miles and runs well, once it is in gear. Still keeps up on the 65 MPH highways. Good power for the gas mileage (25-28 MPG depending)
Weakness:
Engine loud, takes a couple seconds to shift into gear (automatic) especially on cold mornings. Good engine... I have the weaker on 2.5 L in line 4, although a little loud, no other problems. Car has never left me sit ANYWHERE (besides me running down the battery, but that was my fault). Got it for 1300, put about 1000 in and still going strong, about 2 1/2 years I've owned it.
