I would like to express my feeling as a first time Nissan owner. The car itself is great, but its been an awful experience as a Nissan owner. Ever since i purchased my car about a month ago, my car has been giving me nothing but problems, and the dealer where i purchased my car from does not care about retaining their customer after they make their sales. I'm very upset with the way they do business and how my car was delivered to me. Just today, the windshield fluid light went on, i checked and sure enough there was no fluid in there. I've also noticed the coolant fluid was low too. I didn't expect this from a brand new car. I looked at my delivery checklist and it was marked that all the fluid was full, and now a month later, why should the fluid be on low or empty ?I can't stress enough that this is the worst car buying experience ever. Nissan dealerships really need to look into improving customer retention and customer satisfaction other than filling out a survey. There's no point of having a good product when there is no customer service to support it. So far I've been to 3 Nissan dealerships and only one dealership cared to retain my business and sad enough to say this is not the dealership where i purchased my car from.

***think twice before buying this car****
this is my fist and last NISSAN!!! Terrible customer service, both the dealerships and Nissan North America, they keep expressing how important it is to
make their customer's happy, that's just pure BS. They could care less for your business.

Model Reviewed: Nissan Altima 2.5SL

Strength:

Bose soundsystem, spacious cabin, heated seats, sporty character, reasonable gas mileage.

Weakness:

Minor interior rattles can get annoying, 2.5liter engine not as refined as Honda or Toyota.

This has been a really great car. Has a sporty persona when compared to camry and accord, but still has a reasonably smooth ride. I have had one problem to date. The ignition faulted and was replaced under warranty. Service was great. It did take awhile to get the part, but I was provided with a rental car and the dealership detailed my car for my inconvenience. The only other problems I have encountered are minor squeaks and rattles. Bose soundsystem great. Heated seats a must have. My only regret is that I got the 2.5 instead of the 3.5.

Strength:

Looks nice, roomy, and can see well out of the windows

Weakness:

Tires, brakes, cheap accents, smells, and I am sure there are many more to come.

I bought the car brand new, thinking that Nissan made a reliable car. The car drove nice for about the first six months. First the fake chrome around the speedodometer sqeeks loudly when going down the road. Then the car would shake when driving between 40-70mph. I took the car to the dealership and they charged me $60.00 to balance the tires. Shortly after that the car became increasingly loud when driving between 25-65mph. The tires Nissan put on these cars are crap. They will not take any responsibilty for the poor tire choice on the car. Now with 20,000 miles on the car, and having owned it one year, Nissan's best solution to the problem is to buy a new set of tires. Well, thats why I bought a new car, so I didnt have to change them one year after buying the car. They told me that it was my fault for not rotating the tires every 3600 miles. Also the heat and air that come from the vents smells horrible. Nissan acts like evry problem you present to them is the first time hearing about it, come on do they think we are dumb, so the research, every altima has the same problems. My friends Hyundia has had less problems. I cant believe I have to own this car for 4 more years.

Model Reviewed: Alitma 2.5 auto, special edition

I purchased brand new and after 30 miles, the car began jerking and chugging all over the road, rev'ing up to 5000, and was VERY loud! The dealership said it was a small computer chip (transmission control module) that needed replacing. After it was replaced, the symptoms occured again within a few days, and then again a third time. By the time the car got to 900 miles the dealership had still not diagnosed the problem, and then the entire transmission blew and needed total replacement! In the one month I've owned the car, it's been in the shop three separate times, and I've been in a rental car for a total of 2 weeks. Corporate Nissan replaced the transmission but denied my claim for a new car. Not once did the dealership or Corporate Nissan offer me any compensation for my terrible distress. When I first purchased the car, the owner of the dealership sent me an email welcoming me to the "Nissan Family." Since this whole tragedy has occured, I've yet to hear from him once! He left his service manager to do his dirty work. So much for being part of the family! This car is a complete lemon and I'm now forced to proceed with legal action. I feel like Nissan has left me out to dry. They're just VERY lucky that the transmission didn't blow when I was driving it 70 mph down the highway. And the best part is that everytime I brought the car to the dealership, they kept sending me home in it ensuring that the car was as good as new and that I had no need to worry. I could have been seriously injured! Needless to say, I will never go to Clay Nissan in Newton, MA again, and will certainly never buy another Altima. Since this has occured, I've uncovered several other miserable Altima owners. This has been an absolute nightmare and I just want me old car back!! Nissan will be your best friend to get you to buy, but their post-sale service is an embarrassment!

Model Reviewed: Altima 2.5S

Strength:

acceleration, handling, interior room, interior/exterior styling

Weakness:

turning radius, somewhat noisy engine at higher RPM, jerky automatic transmission---only from 1st to 2nd (tends to smooth out slightly once driven awhile)

Sporty mid-sized passenger sedan. The four-cylinder really takes off when asked, even with the automatic. Handling is above-average, cornering well for its size.
The interior is very roomy and very nice overall and I find it is a sporty environment---i.e.---chrome galore, orange illumination, gated shifter. In my opinion, the exterior design looks better than the similar accord, camry, galant, mazda6, etc. It has sporty lines with match the overall driving experience. The Altima 2.5S is definitely worth considering.

Weakness:

stereo sys, air-vent placement, cheep trim components

The Altima has given me no problems like I have noticed in some of the reviews. I have replaced tires, filters, and oil. All of this is normal. I had no problem finding good tires (Perrelli 2000) foud them on the internet. I guess you just have to look around for that stuff. The brake guy tells me that 2 strutts are bad, but I have not replaced them. I think they were $145. Oh well, I do drive on drit roads. I got a great deal on this car because I know someone who works in the the industry. Some one traded it in with 12000 miles on it so I snag it from the dealer. My wife dosent like the aircoditioner vents (not adequete). The shinny stuff on the trunk ornament is flaking off. I will probly trade it in soon miles are getting high havent decided what to get yet. I would recommed this car if you dont like little cramped ones and dont like being bullied around the road by bigger vehicles. Its a good fit for the highway driver

Roomy car, nice style, average on gas.

Weakness:

Expensive to maintain, fix, or replace parts.

Where Do I begin! Highly upset. After dealing with a Kia Sportage and Geo Metro, I honestly believed my troubles would be over. The Altima ran great the first 2 years, then I had to replace the tires which had to be ordered first. Not to mention the major expense on the specialty of the tire. Nothing comes standard or easy to replace. Afraid to deal with side of the road mechanics, I was forced to choose the dealership. Becareful not to lose the keys, yep at least $100 to replace. Recalled 3 times, had manifold, catalyic converter, and exhaust replaced...major expense. Now it sounds like water gushing under the dashboard. I hearn many complaints like that. There is also a crazy noise like I am forcing the engine as I accerlerate, and when its cruising at 40mpg. I took it in, but dealership says its fine. NO ITS NOT. Today they finally took it in, I didn't take "nothing is wrong" for an answer.

Love the look and I feel the car is roomy!

Weakness:

To many problems

Where do I start with my car? Well, when I purchased my Altima in April of 2002. I loved it, it was my dream car. I hooked it up a little and it was def a ladies car. 6 mos to a year after purchasing it I had problems with it starting. Towed it to the dealer did diagnostic test stated everything was fine. Now, 3 years later I have the same issues. The back piece to the side mirrors fall off easily, the gas door broke (wouldnt open) had to get it replaced, finding tires that are reasonable/the make is next to impossible (had tires replaced twice, the brakes replaced twice, windshield wipers are expensive, to replace the lights (brake lights/high beams) in the car are impossible have to take it to the dealer, to many darn recalls, sounds like water is racing under the dash board, toke it for 3 times for that states they had to drain the coolant system..how many times do you need to drain it for it to stop? Did I say problems with it starting. The car has cut off on me 3 times had to use road side assistance. This is the last straw for me 6/11/06, the car broke down. I toke it in 2 weeks prior to 6/11/06, paid $$ for them to reset something that they said would fix the problem. WRONG...I became stranded. I have had the worst problems with this car the past year. Unbelievable that a 2002 car would have so many problems. They keep stating the car have been having issues with long crank times...Yeah I bet. I will be trading it in best believe that!! Do I have a LEMON or WHAT!!!
