Strength:

Great style (inside and out), good handling and braking, comfortable seats.

Weakness:

fog light button location

After having two very different cars (91' Grand Prix and 96' Jetta), I got a taste of many different aspects. The Grand Prix was quick and had very comfortable seats. However, the brakes were an absolute nightmare and it was entering death at only 76,000 miles. So I got a Jetta for its reliability, brakes, and nimbleness. However, it was not comfortable at all and was very slow.

After experiencing all of these pros and cons I made a decission to find middle ground. The Galant was it! Aside from its beauty, it rides smooth, and brakes and handles good. Its 4 cyl is not as quick as my Grand Prix's 6, but alot better than the Jetta's enemic 4 cyl. I found it to be a lot more comfortable than the Altima and 626; and it had a lot more room than the Alero. I never tested the historically unreliable Ford and Crysler products, but I will say the new Taurus looks pretty nice. I didn't bother testing the Camery and Accord because they cost several thousands more and offer NO incentives (which could amount to several more thousand dollars). For the money it was the best decision. Unless you have a large family (in either sense), the Galant makes the most sense. I paid 17,500 for the 4 cyl. and I am satisfied with the power. If you are a speed devil, spend the extra 1,500 and get the 6 cyl. and be done with it.

I have had it for 2 years now and experienced no problems to date. Time will still tell. Either way, it is very fun to drive and with its great price and financing offer (.9%) you can't go wrong. I believe they are now offering 1.9% for 60 months. Just the interest rate alone can save you close to $3,000. That makes it a $15,000 car when comparing it to a car that has no special financing. That makes this car fun to drive and fun to pay.

Remember, you get what you pay for. For an $18,500 sticker you are going to have some things about it you wish were better. If you are looking for the perfect car then get a Lexus or Audi and pay for it.

91' Grand Prix - much faster and very fun to drive, but at 76,000 miles it was dying.
96' Jetta - Desired more reliable car. It had excellent handling and braking, but it was very slow and very, very uncomfortable.

Strength:

Good handeling, excellent gas mileage, good stocked stereo system, tight suspension, low miles-all around great car!!!!Best car I ever owned.

Weakness:

I prefer rims but came with ok wheel covers. Other than that I haven't found any bad qualities yet.

I've had the car for about 3 months. I am really enjoying it and I can't wait to customize it.I had a Mazda 626 with a V6 in it and my Galant is only a 4 cylinder and there is hardly any difference. It picks up pretty quick. I would recommend this car to anyone.

Strength:

Peppy engine for a four banger. Sexy styling, sets it apart from the generic Accord/Camry. Great handling for a four door in stock trim. Decent interior room, nice size trunk, FULL SIZE SPARE!

Weakness:

Unexpected trips to the repair shop, and then delays to get parts from the factory (in JAPAN!). Brakes wear out quicker than I'd expect.

I bought my '96 almost 3 years ago with 25,000. Mileage is now just over 80,000. I had a throwout bearing break after 55,000. The $30 part took out the back half of the tranny. Total cost: $1,700. Even the dealer said that doesn't usually happen. Lower ball joint has a recall in effect for '94-'97. HAVE IT CHECKED OUT! Mine failed in my driveway. I was lucky. I've had to replace the front brakes once a year. Car drinks a quart of oil every 1000 miles.
Overall, the car has held up rather nicely. I'm still a bit nervous about the car, and what's the next unexpected trip to the shop will be for. The Galant is good for a family man/woman looking for decent styling and a basically good car. Personally, I need more power than the four cylinder can provide, and the V6 doesn't come with a stick.

Strength:

This is a WONDERFUL vehicle. The standard ammenities this automobile has is unbelieveable for a VERY FAIR price. And not to mention the 1.9% APR for 60 months that Mitsubishi Motor Corporation offers. The 2.4 4 cylinder 16 valve engine has strong pick-up abilities compared to competitors 4 cylinder engine. Very comfortable, smooth ride and handling. HIGHLY RATE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!

Weakness:

Haven't experienced/seen anything as of yet that isn't desireable......

Good looks inside and out!!

Weakness:

SLOW SLOW SLOW I had a 97 Galant es with a 4 cyl. and it would hold the road at 120. The new 2001 I just bought wont hold the road at 65. The suspension is to soft"it rides like a 75 caddy" and the engine has hardley noticable power. It makes about 20 different rattleing noises, has a squeky drivers seat,I had to take it back to the dealership to have a shock fixed the day I drove it off the lot! this car is a piece of crap!!!

the moet expensive piece of crap i ever bought

Strength:

Bought car 8 years ago with 43K, now with 128K. Solid, reliable. Everything anyone could ask of a car. No rattles 'til over 100K, as solid as my MB 560. Have passed on to my son. Sure it'll last well over 200K with a little TLC.

Weakness:

Clutch tricky to get used to. Started burning little oil at 100K - solved with oil additive.

Superior car that's a great bargain new or used.

Strength:

Good gas mileage for the traveler. Pretty fast as well.

Weakness:

This car is a peice of crap, looks good, but thats it. has 78,000 miles on it, just put a new transmisson, throttle sensor, and getting ready to put a new computer in this peice of crap. Not to mention that it makes this winding noise when your driving it. And to be this car was pampered, it has never went over 4000 miles without a complete fluids and inspection of all parts. (have receipts)thanks alot Mitsubishi.

I got shafted! Take my advice, go somewhere else, unless you like being broke and working on a vehicle all the time.

Strength:

Handling, quickness, looks, price, price, price

Weakness:

Had small problem with brakes warping. Tihgt leg room in the rear seats.

1999 SE6. This is the first new car I have ever owned. I did months of research and test drove every midsize in the market. It was an easy choice. The Galant is a sexy, sporty, 6 cylinder car for under 20,000. My previous cars were american muscle cars, this car handles nearly as well and I can fit my family of four into it comfortably. I admit it is a little snug for 4 adults but, this is the best compromise of luxery and utility. I would recomend this product to anyone and would easily buy it again. I can buy two of these for the price of the expensive sport sedans that it reminds me of.

Strength:

This car is wonderful. It offers many extras that other cars do not offer without charging you an arm and a leg (wood grain, sunroof, fog lights). Handles beautifully and is a comfortable driving car. The tan interior is beautiful and it's is very roomy for a comfortable drive. The body style is sleek and I love the fog lights!

Weakness:

The ES model has is only 4 cylinders, which makes the pick up a little slow, but overall I am extremely pleased with my decision to get the Galant!

This is my second car. My first car was a 1991 Toyota Tercel. Toyota's are excellent cars that last a long time. I'm not sure if the Galant can last as long as a toyota, but from what I have experienced it is a durable car. I loved the financing. Only 1.9% (fixed rate) No money down! I never thought I would get a rate like that. This is a family car as well as a single person's car. It has room for children and can seat four adults comfortably.

I test drove a Mazada 626 and compared it to the Galant. No comparison. The Mazada was a rough ride. I could feel every bump in the road. In the Galant, I feel a few bumps, but overall the ride is smooth.
