AM/FM radio w/cd player

Weakness:

gas door does not lock, weak brake system, tires are wearing, not really pleased with the service at dealership because they push you to spend alot of money on work not needed at the time

I purchased this car because of the lease program. Exterrior is really nice, my first choice was a honda-accord. The interrior is nice.

Strength:

Tight steering, great little V6 with lightning accelaration. Good on gas. "Idiot lights" on the dash for about every problem. Cruise operated by 1 switch-very easy to set & change. Sporty looks for a 4 dr sedan. Factory sound system kicks pretty good.

Weakness:

Need more leg room! I have the drivers seat back all the way & the steering wheel up as high as it will go & I could still use more room. Not designed for a 6ft 3in driver.

I had really liked the looks of the Galant for a while but have been in a 4wd Toyota SR5 extra cab truck. It finally started costing more to repair than it was worth (''91) so I went for the nothing down,no interest,no payments for a year on a new Galant. Have only had the car a few days but so far I am very happy with the performance. The 195 HP 24 valve V6 is quick & I have found myself WAY over the posted speed limit several times thanks to the smooth, quiet ride. Sporty, responsive, agile yet is great for loading the kids up for a dash to school! I don''t think the Eclipse would fit my lifestyle but the Galant fits the bill; 4 doors, practical yet stylish, drives like a sports car. I paid extra for the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty as I drive 110-150 miles per day with my job.

NICE INTERIOR, WELL EQUIPED, RIDES NICE WHEN YOU FIRST BUY IT. A VERY LUXIOUS LOOKING SEDAN.

Weakness:

ENGINE SHAKES AND KNOCKS AND THE BRAKES ARE TERRIBLE.THE BACK END MOVES AROUND WHEN IT SHOULDN''T.

THIS CAR WAS VERY STYLISH AND RUNNING GOOD WHEN I BROUGHT IT. THEN SIX MONTHS AFTER I BROUGHT IT I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE AND THE BRAKES AND THE LIGHTS IN THE CAR.I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE.THEY ALWAYS SAY EVERY THING SOUNDS NORMAL TO THEM. AND THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.

Strength:

No mechanical failures at 91,000 miles. This vehicles strongest point.

Weakness:

Braking system, backseat room is very tight, steering wheel blocks sight of gauges, very thin & cheap leather seats.

I own a 99 Galant. I have had continuous braking & rotor problems since I purchased the vehicle new (not to mention about 5 other defects that have been repaired). My total repair bills close to 3,000$. I do not recommend this vehicle.

Model Reviewed: Mitsubishi Galant GTZ

Strength:

Auto on/off headlights allow me to drive with them on during the day, looking like a beemer. Silver exterior easy to keep clean.

Weakness:

No 5-speed manual available. No center armrest in backseat like competitors. Could use more storage. Brakes also could be improved (stopping quicker), but can''t complain too bad when I got the first brake job at 41k.

I love my car. I bought it used in June 2000 with a little over 20,000 miles on it. Now I''m at 44,000 miles and I''ve had no problems. It has had some recalls, but they were taken care of at the dealership with no problems. Extreamly reliable, great on gas for a V6 (I get 22 in city and 30+ on highway), great acceleration- very good passing power in traffic, head turning styling- you see 1 of these for every 30 Accords/Camrys- and just as good a car if not better. Go for the GTZ pkg. if you can. It packs the most fun in with white face gauges, spoiler, & sport suspension. Leather is comfortable and easy to keep clean (I have the gray interior). Like with any car, if the front is out of allignment it will blow through tires. I found this out the hard way with my front tires nearly bald after 10k. Oh well my fault. Infinity 210-watt factory system is very good, but after a good year of listening to the music fairly loud with some base, the plastic on the front doors begins to rattle and drives you nuts. A little rubber under the door grips solves this. Also add a K&N airfilter...boosts horsepower to around 205/210. (195HP factory). Like with any car, care for it a little and it will return the favor by being trouble free. True, this car isn''t perfect, but--what car is?

1994 Acura Vigor GS- good car but doesn''t compare to Galant. A little more luxorious perhaps but lacked interior room, style, and a personality. Very reliable though. Dumped it for the Galant.

Strength:

Relatively low cost compared to the comp. Roomy. Nice lines. Same wheelbase (stability) as Camry, Accord. Nice paint--red with tan interior. Fabric.

Weakness:

You pay dearly for relatively low cost compared to the comp. Constant vibration in steering wheel, gas pedal, wheels, drivers seat teeth, above 40 mph. Substandard engine performance--poor air intake; uncomfortable seats, cheap dash/interior, poor ergonomics, fragile brakes, steering wheel groans like a walrus--dealer told me to spray a silicone on it to take away the Whirrrrh... lame...Sketchy automatic downshifting.

This car has a constant vibration above 40 mph. My dealer, Metro Mitsubishi, of Bloomington, MN, sold me the car (used) with a bad wheel bearing, bent wheel, trashed rotors, and no spare tire or jack! At the time I needed a car fast and already owned a `95 Galant, so didn''t spend enough time on the test drive. I''ve learned my lesson.... I''ve been toggling between my shop (who is extremely proficient and ethical) and the dealer about this vibrating bit. I am about to sink $400 in new wheels, but after reading the reviews here I may just call it quits and sell the car.

Strength:

Price

Weakness:

Quality, service, resale value.

Mitsubishi is falling behind quickly against other Japanese manufacturers. At a glance it seems like a good deal but it loses in everything against Honda and even Toyota. Compare the top of the line models and for a grand more you can get the Accord. The resale value is also lower.

Strength:

Very economical, nice size interior for a family, stylish looks of a more an exspensive sedan,(the dash is similar to a lexus coupe),very reliable.

Weakness:

slow acceleration, factory parts are exspensive(but I have not had to replace them often, there are not many cutom aftermarket parts(likehonda)if your into customizing.

I commute in my galant es 120 miles a day to work and it has been very reliable. I have not had one problem with other than routine maintenance. When it was time to change my tires I upgraded to a 15in wheel with 205/55/15 tires. Now it rides even better. It looks and rides just as good than more exspensive sedans. You can''t beat it for the price. The key to keeping this car running properly is getting the reccommended maintenance

Strength:

Very nice interior except gets dirty easily. looks good.

Weakness:

Bad brakes that goes often. Just recently I replaced the pads and rotors and the car starts making the eak eak eak eak sound when I brake, usually after driving for a little.

I bought this car in April of 2001. The car has this constant vibration once going over 40 which got worst the longer I had the car, and damn the brakes, they go so fast. I''m in the shop with them every six months. There is a lot of things likable about this car in term of looks, but the shaking and the bad brake make me start to regret buying this car.

Model Reviewed: Galant ES

Strength:

Good styling, quiet, smooth ride, and it''s pretty fast. There is a lot of trunk space to put whatever in. The audio system is good, and because the audio system is made by Mitsubishi, it keeps the cost down. Plus, you have the advantage of not having the same car your friends have because there aren''t as many Galants on the road as compared to mid-size Hondas, Toyotas, and Nissans.

Weakness:

The suspension could be made stiffer to reduce leaning on sharp corners at semi-high speeds

The 1997 Galant ES in my opinion is the best purchase I''ve ever made. The car has great styling, and is very comfortable. The small 2.4l 4-cylinder packs a good amount of power into this car.
