Strength:

A beautiful car. Big car ride with big car safety (important with all of the trucks on the road) at a reasonable price. Good power and great handling.

Weakness:

Haven't held one long enough to experience problems. I hate that there is no light so I can see the ashtray at night. The rocker panel on the 2003 is a rubber material so I'm afraid to knock the snow off my feet before getting in. On all of my previous GM's a loud knock in the front end developed within about a year when the wheels are cranked all the way while hitting a slight change in grade, such as a drive way appron. A

Have owned the 1994, 1998, 1999 and 2001 Grand Marquis and have been more than happy with them all. A great value car and very comfortable to drive. The 2003 model has been a different experience for me though. The ride is not nearly as smooth as with previous model years. It could be that I have a bad tire but I susspect that the suspension is not what it used to be. Although I think they have made some improvements with the appearance in 2003, this ride isn't as good.

Traded an '86 TownCar for this Grand Marquis. Took some getting used to but drives and handles excellent. I have the digital climate control and can't figure out why you can't have air blow on your feet and through the dash vents. I must have this in the winter! The only major complaint I have is the power windows and seats. The motors seem weak. The windows are slow and struggle to roll up and down. The same with the seats. If you sitting in them and try to move them up or down they barely creep. If you offer any resistance they stop. I only weigh 155 lbs. Couldn't imagine if i weighed more. Other than that, love the performance. Turn off Trac Cont. and you ca smoke the tires and swing it wide on turns!

Stromg motor and drivetrain Qhiet, smooth ride.Great accel. and cornering.

Weakness:

I have a very rare paint color called Plum mist Metalic that I can't find anywhere. This paint was a special addition paint that was used for two years and only on the Grand Marq. and the Crown Vic.

I love this car. I owned a 1984 Grand Marquis but it could never hold a candle to the power and space that this car has.I purchase it with 90,000 miles, one owner. The only problem I had was when the driver from seat broke. When I went to fix the seat, the studs that bolt the seat to the floor broke off.

Strength:

Continues to have a good frequency of repair ratio. Excellent driving vehicle. Is very reliable.

Weakness:

Road noise seems to much greater than on older models. Has weak rear suspension. With 4 people and luggage in the trunk, it bottoms out. Seating not as comfortable as in the past.

I have been driving the big Mercurys for years and have been quite pleased. This 2000 model with ultimate package is a very nice car. However, in some areas it is not as good as the older ones. (see below) I get around 25 mpg on trips and around town between 12 and 16. It is my understanding that the manufacuring reconized some the weaknesses and have made improvemnets on the new models.

Strength:

Reliability. After 98000 miles I just recently replaced the plugs (but there was really no performance problem yet although the gaps had increased several thousandths.) The car is comfortable, as a good sized trunk, and goes up and down large hills with ease. I'd like a bit more driver leg room, but I have exceptionally long legs. All in all there is no reason to nit=pick it. But a BMW logo on it and you'd double the price.

Weakness:

My electric door locks failed due to a short in the lock circuit under the dash. The dealer wasn't able to fix it, nor was a local electrical specialist. I found the short and repaired it, but I do not have the remote operation functioning. Everything else is fine. I do my own maintenance if I can. This car equires little.

I purchased the car new. I will buy another when it shows reliability problems. I use it both for in-city and long trip driving. I look for comfort and reliability, plus adequate power.

Strength:

Good power. Comfortable seating. Huge trunk. 21 mpg overall.

Weakness:

Rattle. Michelins seem to slip and scream on curves entering freeways.

Big! Comfortable. I found the adjustable pedals after my 5' tall wife couldn't see to drive it. Has 1 very annoying squeak on bumpy roads. I haven't had time to find it. Been driving too much. I have a K & N air filter arriving today to help the beast breathe. 27000 Miles.

Comfortable seats, dependable, lots of passenger room.

Weakness:

Accelerates a bit slow

I got my Grand Marquis used when I was 16. At the time, I was rather unenthusiastic, as I had really wanted a sleek, sporty little car, however after driving the car for a few weeks, I fell in love. The seats are plush and comfy for long drives (which I do plenty of!) and there is enough room to carry my friends and have them be comfortable as well. It handles well, and has had very minor problems, dispite being almost 13years old and having 200k+ miles on it. I love my Marquis, and would definately consider buying another in the future!

Weakness:

wow, umm, let me think the sound system is a little weak, but easily replaced

I inherited this car from my grandmother when she passed away. I was, needless to say, worried about the whole "grandmother-car" label. Little did I know that the previous owner dropped the engine and put in a Lincoln v-8 in. I was curious and did a little research this car now gets 325 hp with about 300 ft. lb. torque. Now my friends are into this whole "trick out your car and race it," they were suprised when i took them in there imports (hell yeah for american). which brings me to another point, if anybody knows a place to get some performance parts, i know that the FORD CROWN VICTORIA have identical parts and they were and still are used for police cruisers. Please post for some parts.
