Strength:

Powerfull considering its weight. Handles well Comfortable and roomy Beautifull car

Weakness:

I had to have to pitman arm replaced due to the fact that the factory arm had no grease fitting which prevented it from being greased and causing it to prematurely fail. Other than that I have found none.

I absolutely love this car. Mine is silver with graphite leather interior with woodgrain accents. It is beautifull without a douubt. Many people think it is a brand new car! I have had dual exhaust installed along with the performance chip and it is quick off the line and has top end as well. Passing on the highway is no problem as it goes from 60 to 90mph in no time flat. It has plenty of trunk room, even still considering the fact that I have installed 2 15' subwoofers and a 1800 watt amp and 2.5 farad capacitor. It is the last car you would expect to feel that low rumbling bass coming from and I love that. It is very comfortable to drive and I would say the only complaint is trying to stay awake on long trips. Fuel economy is great considering the weight of the car and V8 engine. The auto-dimming rearview mirror is awesome, as well a both driver and passenger 8 way pwoer seats. It came with a factory alarm system which is another plus. At 65,000 miles it is still running strong. A great car in my opinion!

Weakness:

Rough ride & the manufacturer & dealers unwillingness to address these issues. I will never buy one of their products again.

We bought this vehicle new and are really disappointed by it's rough ride and road vibration felt in the seat, doors & steering wheel. We were told by the service manager that a change in design of the front end is the culprit. We were also told they have had many complaints & that the engineers at Ford are aware of the problem but do not have a fix for it. As far as the dealer is concerned we are stuck with a vehicle that feels like it being driven on a wash board.

Though not a fantastically high mileage user, I've had this car for over a year now, and put 10,000 miles on it, including an interstate jaunt. During this time the car has never failed to deliver the goods, and never failed to impress those who travel in it. A lot of my friends came up with the "Grandadmobile" remarks at first, but it's the one they all want to get in for the lunch trips now! Mine is an LS model with the handling package, and from what I can gather seems to have most extras. The alloys & tints leave it looking good (though the alloys can be a pain to clean), and the climate control makes it a joy to drive through the Florida summer. Only changes I've made are to dump the Goodyears which were on it for Michelins for improved roadholding, and replaced the standard sound system for an MP3 player. It is quiet, comfortable, capable, and short of a teen race meet, never looks out of place. It is fast enough to get out of danger when required, but discrete enough not to attract attention from John Law, and the insurance rating is very good. Very little to fault about it at all, but here we go. Personally, I'd like to see a Tacho, it's useful to know what the engine's doing, not just the wheels. The front centre armrests could be replaced with ones with storage space inside (a la Buick), and the Traction control switch needs to be removed from the glovebox to the dash, or switched from an "opt out" to an "opt in" selection.

Unbelievable. This car must have been driven by a litle old lady from Pasadena. At 175,000 miles the engine is smooth and powerful as well as extremely quiet. The transmission is barely noticed when it shifts gear. The space and amenities are incredible for a car 10 years old. I have searched but have found nothing wrong with it. Not even a single drop of oil has fallen on my driveway. It passed the emissions tests required here in Georgia today and beat my VW golf!

You're not going to believe the problems many are having with cracked plastic intake manifolds on some of the 96, 97, 98 grand marquis, crown vic, mustang. Serious stuff. take a look at www.public.fotki.com/trsi/ford_intake_recall/manifold1.html#comments

Strength:

The 4.6L V8 delivers, although at 200 HP, is enough to enjoy long travels with a lot a lot of confort, transmision gear change is hardly noticable, cool areodynamic look that makes the Grand Marquis frame still a hot item even against newer cars, braking system is the smothest that I have ever seen.

Weakness:

Just one in my opinion, engineers at Ford by installing plastic headlights the material used on the headlights darkens and the headlights once turned ON you are not able to see that much, you should have kept the glass headlights, remember I know you tried to make the car lighter in wait than its predecessors, but remember to ensure a good cosmetic lok that would stand almost any cain of environment that the car might be subjected in its life

The Mercury Grand Marquis for me is the best of the best, simply stated on these cars you have strenght, dependability, security the works. There are some opinions about the Grand Marquis looks as being boring, well every one entitled to their opinion I say this it your hart out, the car has good looks regardless I can compare my 1993 Grand Marquis looks to a brand new european import and I tell you many persons still notice the Marquis presence.

Strength:

-Overall size -proven engine -comfortable as anything (I do have the opt. air suspension) -great handling for a car its size -dependabiltity -simple good looks -buttery smooth transmission -no road noise at all -good stock speakers -simple interior design

Weakness:

-lack of interior storage -weak motors (powerseats, windows) - tranny is good, but seems to be guessing if put between gears. The overdrive will also have it shift up on its own a little sooner than I sometimes expect; just took a little getting used to - i dont like the vertically striped reflective pieces between the taillights(missing on the crown vics). not a big deal though, just looks a little TOO grandpa-ish -

great, comfortable car to drive. looks sleek with aluminum rims and tint, but with nice class at the same time. having the V8 is great; I dont care about the gas, which is around 18 mpg avg. It is well worth it for the driving experience. The car's not built to win any races, but it is the same engine as the high performance mustangs, maruader. The engine is very strong and does not fool around at all at any speed. It responds well to how I drive it, and that's all I ask for. I'm 21 and don't have a family to drive around, but I will never in my life drive a small cramped car. The space in the marquis not only lets my body stretch out, but my mind as well; it's simply enjoyable. I like the big hood in front of me, the cavernous trunk, the hidden antennae, giant leather seats that simply encompass my 150 pound frame. The car idles like a kitten every time, but sounds great at higher rev. The traction control doesn't seem to help much for me, but I like the fact that I can reach in the glove and turn it off if I want to have a little fun. Overall, the car is an absolute pleasure to drive and I will continue to buy large sedans (not SUVs) like the grand marquis for the rest of my life

Strength:

tough as nails reliable saved my life on several occasions burns out like a mother if you cock off to someone and they start chasin ya they leave you alone when you swerve at them

Weakness:

i had a different 85 grand marquis before this one and got rid of it at 205,000 miles because the fuel pump went out

this is the ultimate car, i have ran it into a ditch and hung it on culverts, and no damage, my grandpa once drove it through his garage into his house yet no damage, nothing severe has ever gone wrong with it at 157,000 miles. recently i had it parked in a diagnal parking spot and a drunk driver hit it at 40mph and took alittle rubber off the bumper which i will screw back on, the police were impressed with my car since the drunks car had about 4 thousand in damage to it, my friends know it as a tank since it is totally capable of driving into hell and back with no problem at all. its good for driving around on hot summer days drinkin beer since it comfortably sits 6.

Good milage, lots of room

Weakness:

Ford doesn't acknowledge a problem, but any 2003 on the show room floor will do the same. Have had problems with windows for a year, all they will do is "lube" the windows. Serviced at GULLO Ford in Conroe Tx.

Rides great, some vibration around windshield on driver's side, windows are terrible, sluggish, if you roll all four down at the same time, it will trip a circuit breaker. Further attempts at moving window buttons will cause the doors to unlock while driving...wait about 2 minutes for proper operation to return.
