5.8 EFI Police engine
Strength:
MASS!! And the power to fling it about like it isn't there! Relatively quiet, yet authoritative exhuast note says, "High performance engine lives undercover here." Sooooooo comfortably suspended, yet holds the road. Extremely soft seats treat you well on long trips. 0-60 time of 6.32 seconds!
Weakness:
GAWD, the milage is terrible: 12-14 MPG on average, and I've replace the rear tires twice already. But that's my fault, too much spinning 'em! First and foremost, this thing is an absolute battering ram! The curb weight is over 5400 lbs, which in car terms, comes out to a little less than two Corvettes stacked on top of each other. The High Output (HO) 5.8 EFI and dual exhaust grunt out 285 HP, and a ground-shaking 327 ft/lbs of torque STOCK, which (let me tell you) gets its enormous mass moving quickly. The police speedo goes to 140 mph, and it’s able to cruise almost comfortably at 120. The tires seem to be on rails or something, because it’s extremely difficult to break the tires free around corners (unless you blip the throttle, and then they spin like there’s no tomorrow). I have hit three things in this car, and they all lost. Back in 1993 I hit a blue Datsun pickup who ran a stop sign. Ripped the bed off the truck, but the GM needed no work. Winter of the same year, I slid on ice and destroyed a telephone pole, which actually damaged my steering somewhat. And three months ago, I ran over a deer! It didn’t bounce off my bumper, it actually went under the car, which made for a rough ride, but the car is fine. I don’t think the deer is…:) Similar Products Used: Nothing like it, there's just too much power! |

very fast and suprisingly nimble for a big car..easy to turn and the smoothest driving car i have ever driven or ridden in..i has a hufe trunk, prfect for subs and hydraulic pumps and all that that great stuff, which is wat i put my trunk to use for...great great car and it even has a hell of alot of towing power behind it
Weakness:
$$$$$$$ sucks gas likes it nothing, but thats the only think i can really find wrong about it so far very nice ride.....very smooth driving and easy to handle if you know what your doing in a big car..the only thing i dont like is how much gas it sucks up, but if gas isnt a really big issue, this car is amazing to own and fix up...it hauls serious ass for a grandma car, even with no modifications.....and 5.0 liter mustang parts fit it! Power, Comfort, roomy, reliable, ergonomic controls.
Weakness:
I would prefer a better sound system with CD player, if you can call that a weakness. A Superb design & very comfortable ride. Very Powerful automobile with super smooth transmission. I had a big Chevy Caprice prior to this vehicle and the ride does not compare. Options galore with plenty of room. Bought from original owner with 44,000 miles and drives better than the new cars I have test-driven. Forget the car payments when you can buy a cream puff older Grand Marquis. This is the nicest car I’ve ever owned, no problems. Very reliable. Little or no blind spots. My wife falls asleep like a baby during trips to the shore—that’s how comfortable it is. I would recommend this American vehicle over any import. Believe it or not I’m 35 (not retired) and love big cars, you can keep the expensive sports cars with the feel of every bump going through your spine. My dad owned a similar Grand Marquis (1990) and got 275,000 miles out of it with no problems before he bought another new Grand Marquis. Perfect vehicle!!! Strength:
Better gas mileage than your average SUV,space, safety, room for six, huge trunk space, impressive ride, can upgrade the vehicle to a 96 Grand Marquis, better looker than a Crown Victoria and nicely put together than a TownCar( I mean what was Lincoln thinking when they put the side mirrors), can add dual exhaust to the car that make it look cool(almost Mustang like )
Weakness:
Needs more power from its 4.6 liter, 210hp engine, 85mph on the dash board gets on my nerves, engine sometime doesnt feel smooth, rear seat doesnt fold down What can I say but that it beats getting a Sable and it does better than any V6 SUV out in the market. I love this car for the safety, space, reliability, and most of all for the near luxury ride that I get from its 4.6 liter engine on long distance driving. Now only wish I could upgrade the dash board and computer chip to a 96 Grand Marquis, since their isnt much difference in size. Strength:
- Roomy as they come - Power EVERYTHING - Good pickup (I had 5.0 Liter V8, it was a cop engine) - HUUUGE Trunk - Easy to fix most things yourself - Smoothest riding car I've ever been in - Fun to cruise in...actually, there's a 1986 with 8000 miles for sale at a Buick dealer by my house...and it's only $2 grand, I'm almost tempted to buy it. - This thing was a tank...I never felt safer in a car - Nice factory speakers - Supercold A/C (never recharged it once)
Weakness:
- $$$:at fifteen miles per gallon, this thing was a gas hog - Nasty Tan Color - Trunk was NOT designed for subwoofers, trunk was sunken so low most of the sound missed the people in the car - No Fold-Down seats Oh man this was a great car...as long as you have enough money to keep the gas gods happy. The only reason I'm not still driving it is because 160,000 miles hit this engine hard and I think I threw a rod, not worth fixing. Similar Products Used: - '88 Century - I'll probably be purchasing a smaller import car to mod out, I've had my share of luxury cars for this lifetime. I discovered once they start to go, there's nothing you can do but wat |

Mercury Grand Marquis GS
Strength:
Low operation and maintenance costs.
Weakness:
Electrical system. The ''94 GS has been an excellent car, with power, comfort, and room for virtually anything a person would put into a car. I now have 174,000 miles on it and it is now beginning to burn oil. The only unusual maintenance concerns were the rusted fuel lines at the gas tank; the replaced headlight switches (every other year, due to melt downs;) and the electric driver door window failing, and then "curing", before I found time to take it to the dealer to fix! POWER and room for everything else. SUBS GIRLS. Tt is a tight car to deck out. The tires will fry right off when you change the chip, fuel injectors, and fuel pump. The COBRA intake fits it too. SO will any part that fits a 302 V8 mustang. TALK about power. I have done 153 mph in this car. I also did some suspinsion work. Poly urathane bushings, KYB gas shocks. Now i can take 30 mph corners at 65!!!! The next thing on my list a a Power Dine super charger. It is tight to have a grand ma car that will spank LT1''s around
Weakness:
Gas after doing the monds. It sucks down the fluids I am 19. I am a huge mustang fan. My dad bought me this car so i would not speed and get into trouble. Let me tell you with a few mods this thing will beat the pants off most mustangs. Similar Products Used: Mustang GT, LT1 camaroe |

uses gas mildly quick, stock stereo sucks-widely known for it''s power button problem too, I''m 18 years old. My parent''s needed a car that seated six. I was at first dissapointed they purchased this car... until I sat behind the wheel. 7 months later, I woun''t drive anything else. It runs great. I slammed into a curb at 25mph, and bent the RIM back REALLY BAD. I thought i broke an axle. It kept on going. Alignment was not even affected. When you drive this car, it''s like flying. I swear. honds and toyotas, and basically any other cars slow down to go over speed bumps. I don''t slow at all. They don''t affect this car. I could go on and on about the power. Why? Becuase there is enough to share with all the other cars on the road. Similar Products Used: ford taurus. |
