Huge solid frame, power everything and great on long trips.

Weakness:

maybe too big when you have to park in some lots

The best automobile on the road today.I bought this car (used )4 years ago and after 100000KM the only problem was the wheel sensor for abs had to be serviced and heater fan cotrol but Ford paid for that one.

235,00 miles and still going. Just starting to burn oil. Still drives like new. Only on 2nd set of brakes and rotor turns. A/C works like new...replaced two power windows. No hesitation in taking long trips even with this mileage!

Strength:

Outstanding trunk space Very good mileage for this kind of car Rides very comfortably, even on gravel Default tires (Symmetry) are decent for just about all road conditions

Weakness:

Windows are a bit slow to go up (minor annoyance)

I was initially driving a rather beat up 93 Eagle Summitt. I needed something much better. I saw this car for sale at $10,000. Only had 43,000 miles on it but it had some hail damage according to the dealer. I did spot 1 single tiny dent and that's it. The car has driven great for me. It's like driving a couch. Very comfortable, very reliable. I've not had a single mechanical issue with this car. I need to make fairly frequent trips out of state, and I can't think of another vehicle I'd rather be planted in for long road trips.

Strength:

comfortable, good economy, never needs fixing, great standard stereo, good looking, nice gauges, great paint never rusts, avg 23 mpg, great on gravel roads, handles like a car should. This is the best car made in America. Sure the Camry is a good runner but it aint no Marquis.

Weakness:

slow windows, could be quieter

Nice car. Love the looks. The motor is fabulous and runs like a top. This car cruises the highway with tremendous passing ability and I have the smaller V8. Great tranny. This is the best of the 4 Marquis Ive had and all have been great. Im at 160,000 now and this boat is cruising. Without a doubt the Marquis is the best way to get the big car and keep your shirt on.

Strength:

"Mafia" trunk; Comfortable ride; Decent mileage for a V8; Secure feeling on highway due size.

Weakness:

Original Michelin Symmetry tires are OK but will replace them with a more performance-oriented brand.

Used to be a GM man exclusively. Tried Chrysler products and was unhappy. Switched to Ford and found happiness. Had 86 Grand Marguis that my stepdad's family is still using with 150k miles on it. My 2001 was purchased new in Nov 2001. Got great deal and 0 % financing. Never back to the dealer for any problem since purchase ( 24 mos ago). Now, that's what I call I good car. Roomy, quiet, decent pickup. Average 18 mpg in city and have even gotten 26 mpg on long highway vacation trips. It really is "The poor man's Lincoln." Friends in Florida with a 98 Cadillac Deville were so impressed with my Marquis that they went to to the dealer in Sarasota to purchase one after I left. Report they are very pleased with it as well.

Ride Quality Ride Quality and Ride Quality

Have owned three of these cars, a 1991, a 1997 and this 2003. The first two provided excelent ride quality. This one remids me of an old Ford staight axle Pick Up I used to own. The ride is choppy and really tosses you around when you hit a bump. Last one for me.

Solid feel Acceleration / Braking BULLET PROOF RELIABILITY!! Gas mileage that will astound you.

Weakness:

It makes the owners head swell up with pride causing the driver to drive around with an uncontrollable silly simpleton-like grin on his/her face.

This is my White baby! I have the Montegua edition. Beautiful clean powerful car. Very solid body giving you a sense of being safe when driving. I've always had a soft spot for the Grand Marquis as I've owned several in the past. I wish it had a traction control switch as found on the newer ones, as it would be handy to be able to enable/disable. Very quick and smooth acceleration that has suprised many a victim at stop lights. This car accelerates and keeps on accelerating until you chicken out and ease off.

Model Reviewed: Grand Marquis LS- LSE

Strength:

Handling is the big one. Power next, and then options and features. Can't forget a durable design and style.

Weakness:

Sometimes surprisingly cheap materials or appearance seem out of place in a classic of this sort.

I have only owned this car for a little over a month, but I traded in a '94 Grand Marquis LS, which I owned for 2 years. The '94 Grand Marquis was a very good year, with the highest J.D. Powers ratings of any Grand Marquis before or since (to my knowledge). So I was used to quality, performance and economy. ( I hit 28 MPG on 500 mile trip through level Michigan, going 70-80 mph. this past summer.) But the car was almost 10 years old, and had almost 80K miles, so it was time to get something newer. I was searching for the elusive and highly prized LSE which was only built from mid-year '01 to early '03 model year. I called and visited many dealers. Most said they had heard of them, but never saw one. Then one day BINGO! I called a dealer across town that had one. I suppressed my eager excitation during the negotiations and thought I did very well on this used '03 model, built in November '02 with just 13K miles. If you are unfamiliar with the LSE, it is the sporty Grand Marquis that was rendered obsolete by the appearance of the Marauder. It has bucket seats with a floor shifting automatic. It has dual exhaust and the handling package which includes automatic load-leveling rear suspension, sport tuned front suspension, special LSE wheels and steering wheel. It was the top of the line while it lasted. Having the LSE in the new upgraded '03 model with the new frame, styling, and interior was icing on the cake! The handling is a thousand percent better than my old '94. Comfort is better, with more travel in the power seats, and the adjustable pedals. Power is much greater with 239 hp vs. the old 190hp. 4.6 L V8. I can't deny that some items were somewhat cheapened in the new incarnation. The carpeting is the most noticable. But the pluses vastly outweigh the few little quality infractions. Our other car is an '01 Honda Civic, and the Grand Marquis has a better finish, similar fit, and a little below in quality of materials due to the Grand Marquis's excess of hard plastic. As far as options, and features are concerned however, it has almost everything even the most decadent oriental sultan could wish. (I understand they are highly prized in the Middle East).
