Strength:

}Holds the road
}Very Quick
}Nice interior
}Nicely trimmed
}Quality leather
}Automatic has good shift feel, 4th gear lockout
}Excelent Air Conditionig
}Digital Dash is very readable, informative

Weakness:

}Mini spare, who's grand idea?
}Wierd snow handeling even with traction control

This remains the last and best of the large body, rear drive cars. This is my second, my first was a family hand-me-down and I just had to get another.

With the LS trim package and some other options, this is the most powerful and comfortable car that I have ever owned. I paid about $29,000 for one that was nearly fully loadeds.

Long road trips are a breese, you do not arrive at your destination fatigued. It is very reasonable with fuel, 25mpg on the highway is about average. When the weather is just right I can approach 28mpg.

Mine is equipped with the handeling package and the 210 hp engine. You should be happy with either the standard Marquis or the "souped up one", but I like the extra power and the firmer cornering.

Auto climate control is really a must in such a nice car, and the digital dash ads a lot of information that you just don't get with the standard dash. Do get the premium sound system. It isn't that bad. The CD changer is a must, and works well. Even if you end up not happy with the standard sound system, don't change the tuner unit, I have had very good luck picking up far out stations. The speakers being changed could help any audio deficiencies.

Great car for anyone that wants to drive what remains of "Detriot Iron".

This is the 4th one I have had. They are very reliable. I usually put about 65,000 miles on them in 1 1/2 - 2 years and Have had no problem with any of them.I did not opt for the premium sound system but from what I learned its practically the same system w/ the cd player.Otherwise a very nice, reliable car.

Strength:

Powerful and handles real nice with police shocks installed it feels a little like a Mercedes or a European instead of the Queen Mary.

Weakness:

Abs failed (I use it often) expensive to fix.

Great car! Huge trunk for traveling good on gas has been rock solid under my lead foot. It will break the tires loose and without posi-traction or traction control you have to moderate the gas pedal to control. Mine has leather and power everything it has a lot of luxury for a car this price. You could pay $40,000 for just a little better. Has 80 thousand miles and except for minor cosmetics feels as new.

PS: many parts are interchangeable with the Crown Victoria Police cruiser.

Strength:

acceleration is nice for a big car. handles like a tank should.. it's a blast being a skipper on my land barge :o) exhaust only sound cool when floored..will be moditying that soon with the flowmasters. excellent value! the 2001 has larger disc brakes..disc warpping shouldnt be a problem..most folks upgrade to larger discs, this one already has them :o)
it's a mustang motor..mustang/cobra parts should match up to make this thing a lot faster :o)

Weakness:

mpg is weak, but the pleasure of driving my boat outways the mpg sacrifice!

This car is cool!! Get teased a bit driving it.. i'm 35..folks think it's for mature folks. Was looking for a used marquis or victoria, and it had to be black/black, and performance package (rims, hp, dual ex), had no luck. used rentals with hi miles and no package were 17000. so, i was leaving the lot, the sales guy said he just got a few new ones in! i saw my dream car.......marquis, black/black, special order gs with/performance package. i got it!! very happy! did the k&n filter and will be adding the dual flowmaster 50s with mock 2003 marauder tailpipes!! fun on freeway on ramps!! have to hit the brakes to go with flow of traffic when i get on the freeway :o) 0-90 is a breeze in this toy!! cheaper than a pick-up, camaro or mustang..insurance is less.. i should have it close to 250hp soon (almost comparable to the ugly impala cop cars). i'd get the new marauder if i could afford it. folks enjoy riding it in it...comfortable, good looking, excellent a/c. this is definitely the car to get if you know cars, like comfort, and want soemthing that can be "hopped up."

Powerful V8, Leather interior, comfortable seats(w/lumbar), roomy interior, large trunk, power ammenities, and the list goes on....

Weakness:

Power antenna likes to get stuck occasionally when you are trying to put it down...

I bought this car a while back with just over 100,000 miles on it from a gentleman who was transferring overseas. I now have 230,000 plus miles on it, and just recently had to replace a PCE sensor at the cost of $240.00. Not bad considering all the miles. I figure it will last me for a long time. The V8 moves, and the interior keeps most of the outside noise out. It goes over bumps quite well, and I like the dual exhaust. It's been a great car, and I'll keep it for as long as possible.

BIG 5.0 EFI V8, does anybody knoe how much HP they put out?
You can drive like an old lady and no one can do anything about it because your car is bigger and faster. You own the road with a Grand Marquis!

Weakness:

TOO BIG, I just took out a chunk of the bank pulling into a parking spot not to mention a nice big notch out of my chrome bumper. Careful parking.
Normal rear wheel drive drawbacks. Not a bad weather car.

I've been driving this car for the last few months and I am so in love I can't wait for the 2002 turbocharged grand marquis marauder to see how it compares.

Strength:

Comfort and the lowest overall cost per mile to operate of any of the other nine cars I've owned.

Weakness:

Likes to "Cruise" at over 80 on the highway. It will not give me a good reason to go and buy a new one.

After driving this '87 LS for almost 15 years to 169,000 miles on the OD I'm still impressed when I open the trunk and throw things into that bottomless pit! Most comfortable seats there are and they don't wear. Got shocks at 100M but probably didn't need 'em. Got new brakes at 128M, 82 M more that I unually get from brakes. Starter at 165M along with alternator. Origonal belts, hoses. Wore out the origonal oil plug by changing oil every 3M Mmiles. Everything-- from the engine to the interior to the paint the car keeps itself good as new, and it's still draws looks.

Nothing equal to compare with. Mercedes comes close, but boy even their big ones are small-- but not the Mercedes price tag.

The smoothness of the ride and quietness on the road. I've never owned one car for this long.

Weakness:

That is needs a tune up every hundred thousand miles.

This has been a great car for comutes to work, beach, and errands. The gas mileage is Fantastic(22-23 city)(25-27 hwy). You can't beat the comfort of the ride and size of the trunk. Everything still works on the interior unlike other American mades I've owned.

Well I am back :) I have news. I took a road trp with my husband he rode his Harley Davidson and I drove the car. I had no problem keeping up with the pack and passed many a HD on steep mountainous turns! I did notice that with the Regular Fram Airfilter that the car was having trouble breathing.I could hear the engine straining but I knew that with the right
air filter and exhaust system I could increase the performance immensely. Last week I put in a brand new K& N airfilter and had a new flowmaster dual exhaust system with downturned chrome tips installed and I must say what a difference! This car is awesome! I increased the HP by about 15% and wow when I hit the accelerator it flies. In the next two weeks I am installing the Super Chip and that will increase the horsepower by another
20% I can't wait!!!! I love this car I have many High Performance cars in the past but not one of them compare to the beauty, style, grace and power of this awesome car. My gas mileage is 20-23 miles per gallon in the city and better on the highway. I also use High Octane Gas that also increases the performance.I love my car and would not trade it for anything!! I am totally devoted. Future projects, Superchip, Intake, Low profile tires of course that is just the start. I don't know where we will finish!

Strength:

Reliability,quality and comfort.

Weakness:

Maintenance costs are sort of expensive as everything else today. In the past year I have lost two center caps on the wheels. I would like to know who designed the center caps. Hopefully, they have an engineering degree.
Dealership cost with taxes is about $60 for the center cap which I will not pay. I bought an after market center cap for $10 and painted on the Mercury logo. No body can tell the difference. I hope the Ford Motor Company reads this evaluation on a simple engineering project, i.e., center caps. Several years ago I noticed a fluttering when the A/C was turned on. When the glove compartment was shut it forced a piece of paper to the back out of the glove compartment into the A/C fan area. Paper removed, everything fine. You have two tiny tabs on the steering wheel to sound the horn. Very awkward when you are turning and need to sound the horn in a hurry.

Original owner, 173,000 miles. Drives like new. Make sure you change oil every 3,000 miles. I know and trust the service writer and service manager which makes a big difference. I place all service records in a three ring binder so I have a complete maintenance history on the car. I will allow know one but a trusted Mercury dealer to work on the car. Based on an experience in Fairfax, VA, I prefer to have the work done here in Tampa.
