Strength:
The 235hp motor with dual exhaust and 3.27:1 rear end makes the big car fly! The handling package with rear air suspension allows the car to ride smooth and handle great!
Weakness:
The automatic shift programing does not fit the sportiness of the car. I will deffinitly change it with a program chip and maybe a shift kit The best car I have owned. White body color with beige interior. The sport package really makes the car fun to drive. The premium sound system with the CD changer in the trunk sounds great, no aftermarket upgrades are needed. The "E" package interior with bucket seats is quite unusual but looks and feels great. Similar Products Used: I have owned a ''86 and a ''96 Grand Marquis. The reason I bought the ''01 is because I fell in love with the sport Grand Marquis. (the zero percent financing also helped!) |

Strength:
Power, ride quality, fit and finish. Room out the wazzoo for everything.
Weakness:
Pings a little now and then. Little things fall off and have to be replaced-examples: both horn switches, the fuel door release button, the turn signal. Bought this 94 GS with 46K. Owned by a little old couple who couldn''t handle the size anymore. What a car! Goes anywhere, over anything, in all kinds of weather. Roomy-I''m a drummer and I can put my entire kit plus more in the trunk. Quiet ride and reliable. No worries about stalling or not starting. The best used car I ever bought and the only American made vehicle (besides a Crown Vic or Town Car) that I would ever buy Similar Products Used: Nothing like it, ever. Had a 78 Lesabre once- no comparison |

Strength:
Just a nice car to drive. With alittle tweeking man what a car!!!
Weakness:
Soft front shocks. This car was equipped with high output motor and handling package. I''ve changed the computer chip with a perforance chip from Jetchip. I also put ram air in, and a K@N filter. My ram air is a 16" by 2" funnel under front bumper. If you know a tin worker ( Insolator) at work thie is easy to make. I also went with 2 and a Half inch pipe, FlowPro mufflers right out the back with chrome tips. Boy did this wake up the car , from light to light I''m even with a 98 Mustang GT ! With the suspension I changed tires to Hankook performance tire. Front shocks changed to Koni gas shocks, the rear Ieft stock (air ride).I also tinted all the windows. With all the changes, man did this car this car wake up.I highly Recommend THESE changes!! My Next change is after market pulley kit for the motor, Polurethane kit for the suspension. The last two changes will be done by May 1/02 then watch out. By the way my gas mileage stayed about the same. |

Grand Marquis
Strength:
ride quality and comfort excellent sound easy and inexpensive to maintain Plenty of power! Ice cold air
Weakness:
Only one very minute beef--the power antenna sticks every once and a while I have really enjoyed this car from day one. With the vinyl top and chrome accents this car is a real eye catcher. You can easily fit six people in the vehicle while driving in safety and style. I am 18 yrs old and have heard all the talk about the grandpa car, but those loud mouths change their toon when I pass them with ease. The interior is great and so comfy with the lumbar seats. I bought it with a little over 100,000 miles I now have about 115,000 mi and have enjoyed driving it every minute. I feel so safe with all the metal around me and don''t care about the extra cost for gas. The paint is superb and shines like the day it was new, it still turns heads after eight years. I have had no major expenses just regular maintenance. I''m going to college now, but when I can afford my first brand new vehicle--it will definitely be a Grand Marquis. Similar Products Used: I had a 1990 Lincoln Town Car before my Mercury--That darn thing was in the shop everyday practically and never a bill under $600--never buy a stinking Lincoln, (rear air suspension was a nightmare!) |

Strength:
Smooth ride, roomy interior and trunk
Weakness:
None that I''m going to be concerned about After many years of purchasing full-sized cars that had seen their better days, I was able to buy this one new. It''s everything that I would expect from a car such as this: quiet, comfortable, spacious. I''m sure that I will enjoy driving this highway cruiser for many years!!! Grand marquis
Strength:
Roomy interier, with alot of power are the largest strengths. I also like the fact that it is averaging 22 miles to the gallon with both highway/city driving.
Weakness:
Cup holder are not up to pare. I just purchase this grand marquis, and I love it. I look at alot of cars trying to find the right car, in that I drive 80 miles each day just to get to work and back. I looked at Lexus GS300''s, and Toyota Camery''s, and came to the conculsion that the best but out there for the money was the grand marquis. I realize that it does not have the flash of the Lexus, nor the resale value of the Camery, but for me and the miles and time I plan to spend in this car it was the right choice for me. |

Grand Marquis
Strength:
Powerful, rear-wheel drive V8; smooth, quiet ride; roomy, comfortable interior; ice-cold, climate controlled a/c; fairly decent OEM sound system (this was a pleasant surprise).
Weakness:
Sub-par cup holders- would be better if the center arm-rest was wider and had built-in cup holders (this is a GM feature); no trunk light or under-hood light. I initially tried to make a deal on a ''98 Cadillac DeVille D''Elegance, but the snobby Cadillac used car dealer wouldn''t accept my more than fair offer. So, I went to plan ''B'' and made a very good deal on this Merc, and so far I''m glad I did. This Grand Marquis is an LS, and the color is silver/gray with almost all available options: charcoal leather seats, 6-CD changer in trunk, aluminum wheels, keyless/lighted entry with alarm. She began life as a rental. I bought her with 23500 miles, and I believe I saved her from a second-life as a taxicab. The car is actually still under warranty; however, Budget had taken care of any warrantied repair issues thus far. The first thing I did after purchase was get a new set of Dunlop tires as the Michilens that were on it had to be OEM''s. BIG DIFFERENCE! The second improvement I did was have the windows tinted. Now my Merc looks like one of the unmarked police cars commonly seen here in Hawaii. The last improvement I will make is purchasing a dash cover, which is actually on order. Strength:
Smooth ride,strong engine,large trunk
Weakness:
Some air noise around 2 front doors.Back seat for person sitting in the middle is abit uncomfy.Hideaway wipers difficult to lift up to get snow and ice off. Bought car from a VW dealer. Very good condition due to the fact that it was owned by an older gentleman. Purchased with 65K miles. I think that he kept this vehicle in his bedroom as it is spotless. This is the first time that I have owned or even driven a Grand Marquis. First time I test drove it,I literally got sea sick. Had trouble getting used to the tail wag in the snow. Firmed up by replacing back springs with cargo coils - springs that are designed for towing. Much better! Fuel economy a bit low in the city, but good on the hwy. Engine very responsive and smooth. |

Strength:
Fuel economy, power, comfort, truck size. For those that like to modify cars, this is easily modified.
Weakness:
It came with Goodyear Integrity (bottom shelf) tires. Not sure if they were OEM. Looking to replace with Regatta 2''s or Aquatread 3''s. I was driving a clunker and looking for a good, reliable car. I grew up with Crown Vics and Grand Marquis'' so I knew they were good. The dealer found this one owner (older couple) car, with only 30K miles! Best purchase of a car I have made so far. It only has a bit under 45K on it now. She runs like a champ, and I figure I''ll be driving it for a while! Similar Products Used: I grew up with an 89 & 92 Crown Vic and a 91 Grand Marquis wagon. My father loved them. Guess it rubbed off! |

Strength:
ride, quietness, power, decent gas mileage and the huge trunk.big enough for a family
Weakness:
none that i know of without a doubt, this is the most comfortable car i''ve owned.quiet, powerful and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.driven it to nj twice, and after 6-7 hours we feel like new when we get there.our family has rented towncars twice on recent trips to florida, and in my opinion, the grand marquis is the same car with a different body.i see no need to pay more for a towncar.we also own a 87 marquis that for it''s age is just as nice.being a concrete truck driver,i appreciate the smooth, quiet ride home after work.especially with the handling package and traction control, and abs. |
