Mazda Millenia (1995 - 2003) Midsize | Compact

Mazda Millenia (1995 - 2003) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The Mazda Millenia was launched in North America in 1995 and replaced the 929 as Mazda's flagship sedan offering. The Millenia is offered as a 4 door sedan with a 2.5-liter/170-hp DOHC V-6 or a supercharged 2.3-liter/210-hp DOHC V-6. It comes standard with a 4-speed automatic and ABS.

Having been developed for a separate audience from typical Mazda customers, the Millenia boasted a myriad of finer details. It was engineered to far greater levels of perceived quality than existing Mazda cars, such as interior plastic, panel gap and thicker paint coating.

Strength:

Sharp looking! Drives smoothly when not making noises, sound system great, wheels are awesome, leather

Weakness:

Supercharger needed to be replaced after only 36,000 miles. Need dealers that can identify problems and do work in a timely manner

Bought the car with the check engine light on after Mazda of Clarksville, TN said it was from wrong gas, according to their computer. Took it back a week later and they had closed their doors and it was making loud engine noises, took it to Paducah Ford/Mazda and found out it needed $5,200 worth of work, still don't have car back and it has been 2 weeks!Supercharger needs replacing, coils and tune-up, 3,000 mile warranty from dealer paid most of the cost, still out rental car, time, gas and mileage for being without car for 2 weeks, not to mention stress factor here! Too many problems for a car that was lady driven with only 36,000 miles.......one of my Hondas had 199,000 miles and was still going!

Strength:

It handles well, is very classy looking and gets wonderful milage.

Weakness:

I am not happy with the fact that only after a little over a year, my "check engine" light has come on. I drove my last car almost 10 years, and never once did the engine light come on. This calls for me having to probable spend money out of my own pocket to have this seen about when it is probably just some kind of maintenance guarantee for the company. I am very displeased with this.

I love my car. It rides great, gets good gas milage and is a very sharp, attractive car.

Strength:

the look, the great road handling, good gas millage, nice control panel

Weakness:

nothing as of yet besides the check engine light

I have only had this vehicle for 1 week, and I must say that I am truly in LOVE. The way the car looks, feels, and reacts to the way I drive is just unreal for the price that I paid for it. Before I purchased it I was actually looking for a Honda Accord, but lo and behold here comes the Millenia out of no where. The price that they were asking for in the newspaper ad was unbevleivable, so I had to go check it out. It only had 90,000 miles on it but that not that bad, plus when I test drove it I knew deep in my gut that this was the car for me. To make a long story short, the only problem that I can see in this car so far is the infamous "check engine light", but with any car as long as you treat her good she will be good to you in return. Plus my points with the opposite sex have went through the roof cuase it looks so expensive and appealing to the opposite sex, but that is another story. 2 thumbs up for Mazda when they made this one.

Strength:

Smooth ride, attractive looking inside and outside, impressive built quality, the power is not as bad as many people complain, quite engine, nice looking instrument panel and the entire dashboard.

Weakness:

Some road noise (mostly because of sporty high performance Michelin tires), transmission is not as smooth as on Maxima.

I was looking for a sedan for over six months, and my searches narrowed down to two vehicles: Nissan Maxima and Mazda Millenia. But even that took me a while to make up my mind: powerful and unbeatable engine or smooth, comfortable ride and much better looking body stile. Finally I decided to go with Millenia. I am so happy with purchase, even after buying not a "most recommended" and discontinued model. Many standard features on my Millenia Premium can be compared only to Maxima's GLE model, which is much more expensive. Plus I got much better looking car than the Maxima (the rear end of the Maxima is truly ugly even on '02+ models with spoiler as well as the rims on '02 GLE). I don't think that Millenia's 2,5 engine is so underpowered as many people state, and it is even quieter than the famous Maxima's engine. For the money I paid for used '02 Millenia (15K mi) I could not even get neither ‘02 Maxima GXE nor’00 Maxima GLE. Even with some road noise the Millenia drives smoother and quieter than the Maxima. However, if you prefer power over the comfort of a nice car, go with Maxima. The only few cars that can compete with the power of Maxima are probably BMW 850 and Dodge Viper.

Strength:

Ride, handling, lack of road noise, appearance, good sound system, heated seats very comfortable.

Weakness:

I had to replace front door handle. Otherwise, regular maintenance. Everything works perfectly.

Great value. Great looking car. Very reliable. If you want to fly from a complete stop, buy a sports car. Car rides comfortably, good gas mileage. I am very satisfied.

Strength:

Looks, handling, fit and finish. You don't see many of these...and thats what appealed to me.

Weakness:

High depreciation, but what new car doesnt???

Great car. Under rated. Get one of the best deals on this fabulous completely made Japanese models while you can. Some reviewers on this site, say this is underpowered. I disagree. This car has got plenty of pep for me. Frankly, I don't need any more tickets or supercharger expenses. Plus the P model looks better than the S.
