price,styling and near luxo ammenities.
Weakness:
resale value, high repair/upkeep costs. transmisssion and over all reliability. hard to keep front end in allignment. Green paint horrible over time.bad cup holders, check engine light is a frequent visitor after 90k..engine developes a "tick" after 100k, but keep oil changed every 2k-2.5k mi. I have had this car for 3 years. Over this time, I have developed a love/hate relationship with the car. I honestly think that it is one of the nicest looking cars made. Repair costs are high; reliability is questionable. The tranny is horrible and the car is extremely underpowered. But,when it is running good and its been cleaned up, it is a joy to drive. I would recomend it but, only one that is used, from the dealer and with some factory warrenty remaining. If possible, find a mazda parts specialist instead of dealer parts becouse of the costs Similar Products Used: wife has es300, the lexus is better. |

I think the acceleration is great for passing maneuvers with a car this size, Miller Cycle Engine is great conversation piece, looks, handling, value, Mazda Reliability (my 5th and never one problem yet)
Weakness:
Take off isn't as smooth as possible due to surge of power when supercharger kicks in, transmission doesn't shift as smoothly as some, lack of aftermarket parts So far I've really enjoyed this car. I paid less than some buying Accords and Camrys and this is a much better vehicle for the money. The Miller Cycle engine has excellent power in the range where it is needed most, it isn't a 1/4 mile car, but passing is effortless. The transmission could use some work on smoothness and staying in the right gear. Overall I really do enjoy this car and I expect to buy Mazda again when I get rid of this one. I have always liked the way they put the money into the handling and not silly goo-gaas on the dash. Similar Products Used: I've driven many makes and models but I fell in love with this one |

Strength:
Appearance is number one. When this car is all cleaned up, it can hang with any luxury sedan.
Weakness:
Speaker blew up in passenger door, only 25k miles and replaced rear ball joint, Thin doors lead for easy dents, not that great on gas, I love the car, minus some minor problems. I'm putting custome 17" wheels on it and I know that people will be checking me out. Similar Products Used: Mazda 929, Honda Accord, Nissan Maxima |

The transmission is not that smooth though but what do u want from a 6 grand car. I am very happy with my car and if u can find it for the price i did u should buy one. Strength:
Smooth looks, especially with 17' chrome rims, overall Japanese quality level, sporty handling but elegant theme. Clean simple interior, good acceleration from 5mph and at high speed pass. Price point with discounts.
Weakness:
not yet established too many. Many buyers have to really think about buying one due to the slightly negative reviews they get from mainline sources. After I studied them I disovered taht most reviews were older models and data was not valid or correct. EX. Depreciation steep - yes it is from the sticker price BUT not from dicounted prices and comparing it to competitor cars ie Lexus ES300 (I had one) when you add the features to that car it soars to $37,770 (leather, moonroof, chrome wheels, CD, etc) and the 3 year depreciation is acc. to Kelly Blue 2% different from sticker yet they rate that Lexus as a low depreciation car and the Millenia as a high depreciation car. Face it the more you spend the more you lose. The MIllenia give the features and better looks cheaper! This car is able to please me and I am picky. My baby BMW I traded was the best driving car - steering and power but other factors wore on me. Cost of maintenance usually $300-$400 each visit for minor things and something I hear other cars ragged about is a real problem on them - controls! Everything has tiny buttons especially the radio- I never hear anyone rag BMW about it. Try to set a clock in one. The Millenia S (S is important) is a competant car - different from earlier years I understand with its new FRAME and suspension. The controls are large and well placed. THe radio is like old fashioned knobs - easy. The seats are super! Look at this car if you are looking in this class of cars. I think that Mazda and Ford should advertise this hidden wonder. Similar Products Used: Acura TL 3.2 - not near as attractive. Nice car but for me costs more and color choices are the boring Honda choices. BMW 328is had for 5 years small quicker but they are overrated. Insurance way more than Millenia. |

Millenia has excellent styling even at 2001. Fun to drive, corners very well at high speed. This car has unbelivable top speed!! (155+MPH Nuts...)Got it for $17000 below retail for one year old car, it was a great deal.
Weakness:
Tons of problems all over: Transsion had to be replaced at 60K, Engine sensor and wiring replaced at 40K. CD player is unreliable. CV Boot replaced at 50K, need to replace wheel axle. Shift nob botton broke off at 40K. Wheels are constantly going out of alignment, I have gone through 3 set of tires at 60K. I guess the new suspension isn't really paying off. Engine light comes on and off and Mazda dealer can't figure out what's wrong. The car depreciates like day old fish. The repair cost for the car is obsurd for a Japanese car. This car is one troublesome ride. Will never consider buying another Mazda! I assume that my car was a lemon even though I have the whole service record from the day it was bought. The ride is smoother yet very sporty for a sedan. However, spending countless hours at the Mazda dealer isn't exactly worth it. The Mazda service had been poor and unreliable. It took them 12 visits to finally fix the engine light problem. (or did they?) The car has ran me up quite a bill since the warranty expired. Overall I would have been very pleased with the car if I don't have so many problems with it. The Millenia was a dissapointment with all its problems. I would never buy another Mazda in the future base on my experience. I would recommend a Mercedes or BMW instead, they have higher price tags but also much better resale value and service. Millenia S
Strength:
Styling, relative exclusivity, relatively low price used, handles well, comfortable for front occupants.
Weakness:
POOR RESALE VALUE, parts and service are pricey, unique Miller-cycle engine limits options for service, poor cupholders, gas-mileage and power not as impressive as advertised, PARTS AND SERVICE PRICEY, tends to skip around in bumpy corners (unusual for a car with 4-wheel independent suspension, did I mention pricey parts and service costs??? I have enjoyed this car in my three years of ownership, but I would not purchase another Millenia, largely because the resale value and insurance costs are so low and high, respectively. A Honda made product is a much better deal, and not necessarily more expensive. I have not had too many problems with the car, but the dealership wanted to charge me $1,800 to change the timing belt!! I had it changed at a local mechanic for $700, but since I do not intend to keep the car much longer, I really did not care. Similar Products Used: Acura TL (better resale), Nissan Mazima (about the same, but service and parts cheaper), Honda Accord V-6 (better value and resale) |

Strength:
Lots of strengths with this car. Styling is VERY nice. 2001 models now have a slightly slanted grill and the wheels(16") look like Porsche boxster. I think this car is SO under-rated compared to the Maxima and all the attention it gets. It almost looks like a cross between a GS300 and an Acura TL. Smooth ride, nice stereo with volume control on the steering wheel a plus. Leather is very comfortable and the handling is also very nice. Lots of Trunk room and acceleration is nice. Also has very flashy instrument panel.
Weakness:
Really none that I have noticed so far. Gas mileage not that great, but which V6 does? This a great car with a wonderful ride and very flashy body style. My second Mazda in 4 years. Have NEVER experienced a single problem with their cars. Once again, I say that Mazda is on the rise with Nissan and is VERY underappreciated I think. Strength:
Stylish. Especially with 17s.
Weakness:
Transmission, transmission, transmission!!!!! Will Mazda admit it? I think not!! If you can get over the tranny, this isn't really a bad car. For those looking for engine parts for the 2.5L. The majority of intakes for the Probe GT will work. Responds well to universal exhaust. I can smoke most S models!! Similar Products Used: 96 Mitsu Galant more reliable |
