Mazda MAZDA6 (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Mazda MAZDA6 (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

There are a lot of midsize cars on the road today, but the MAZDA6 is different from all the others in two very significant ways. Most noticeably, it is the only midsize model line to offer three distinct body styles to fit your style and utility needs. More importantly, it is built with a strong emphasis on driving dynamics. As one look at any of the 60-plus international awards the Mazda6 Sports Sedan has received clearly shows, no other model line in the class delivers the ride and handling characteristics near and dear to a driving enthusiast's heart like a MAZDA6.

Steering and comfort.

Weakness:

Did not get the V6. The 4 banger is good, but not the pick the V6 has.

Only had the car for a short while. Great vehicle!!! Very smooth steering. I the wife and kids really like the red interior lights on the dash...way cool. Very nice for comfort.

There is no such a thing at this car

This is so great car, I don't know what else to say. So sporty, so confort. I have Mazda 6 Gti 2.3 for Europe. It has an audio like I dreamed for. 7 speakers with sub-woofer and 7'' LCD and DVD player. It goes 213km/h. It's realy a great car. I was thinking to buy Corolla TS(192HP) but it is too small.

Sporting drive, value, sharp looks, cabin erganomics.

Weakness:

Cabin noise. Quality and attention to detail in cabin finish, not up to some rivals (VW)

My new company car had a choice of any 2.0 d car suitable (etsate) Not the best motorway cruiser. but reasuring and quick on the twisty bits. well equiped for price/lease costs. 2.0d engine picks up better than similar petrol, Cruises without drama. Good space and versitile seating. Well laid out cabin controls all come to hand. Getting 45 mpg on mainly Mway jurneys. Not a bad choice in a sector which lacks weakings or any real flair.

Strength:

Handling, Styling, Comfort, Price, and extremely fun to drive. Believe me best handling car I ever drove. The more you drive this car the more you will want to drive it.

Weakness:

Not alot of torque, ofcoarse I also have a 4.0L V6 Ford Ranger which at the dragstrip was turning 2.20 60-footers. which is better than old 5.0 stangs with auto's.

Got a loaded 6i, Auto tans, Leaher seats, Bose audio, moonroof, 100,000mile warranty, etc. Not sure where the bad gas mile claims are coming from, must be drive habbits. I have recorded my gas mileage ever since I got the car. City alone: 25.0, 23.0, 25.7, 24.0, 24.5, 25.5, 25.4, 24.6, 26.4 City/Hwy combined: 30.4 Hwy alone: haven't went on trip yet but I expect 32-33 mpg and that is with auto trans. It is rated 23(city) and 29(hwy) on sticker.

Strength:

Fun to drive, responsive, sure handling. V6 is a very good engine for the "6". Runs on regular fuel, but goes like crazy. Agressive styling, very good looks. Efficiently laid out interior.

Weakness:

Ver-r-r-ry hard to find one with Sport Package but w/o Black interior. Even in Oregon, where it rains a lot, the black interior on a hot day felt like a furnace.

Hands down the most fun sedan in its price range. I am extremely impressed with this car. I have owned Hondas and Toyotas since 1981 -- several Accords and two Camrys. I also test drove both the "03 Camry and the "03 Accord. All with V6. The new Camry and Accord are neither performance competitive nor price competitive with the Mazda6 similarly equipped. If you don't want to spend $30+ grand on a sports sedan, this is the best of the bunch. Can be had for invoice or lower.

Strength:

Excellent suspension, steering and braking. Stays glued to the road. Attractive Japanese-taste design.

Weakness:

Rather noisy engine. Interior design lacks class somewhat. Some people may not like the extremely sensitive braking.

I'm writing this review after my test drive with the Mazda 6. The model I drove was the GS-I4 (4 cylinder) with sports package, 4 speed automanumatic added on. The thing I really liked about the Mazda 6 was its superb ability to stay glued onto the ground. The car shows no intimination by bumps or uneven surfaces on the road; it has a high ability to travel in a straight line. The second thing I really liked about the car was its quick and precious steering, sometimes too quick for a Camry driver like myself :-). Combined together, I was able to tackle sharp turns at decent speeds with ease. I felt that this car has really sensitive braking, where at times a little tap with my right foot sends the car jerking forward. I found this useful especially when I need to rapidly decrease my 120km/h speed to 60km/h when cops are nearby :-). In the end, I felt that driving this car made me feel confident about my control over the car, and more importantly, the road. My impressions with the 2.3L inline 4 engine are rather average. The engine loves to rev, and wants to be revved. The car takes off from around 3500+ RPM, and makes 100km/h in a respectable time. However, the engine is rather noisy and unsmooth, and shows the desire to break up near redline RPMs. The vibrations from redline RPMs somewhat interfered with my handling of the car, where at times I found it to be lurching sideways. I felt that the interior of the car is somewhat shabby. It looks creative but it lacks a little class. The interior material is below average compared to the lights of the Accord and Camry and I really question the quality of the plastic metal-coloured instrument panel. The dash looks sporty but it looks a little cheap. The audio system is decent and the climate controls are configured optimally. The trunk is large and the opening to the trunk is well designed. In regards to exterior design, I feel that the Mazda 6 would look better with a spoiler at the rear. I really hate the chrome "milk-moustache" grille at the front and I plan to replace it with a sports grille if I buy a Mz 6. The alloy wheels are really stylish and I like the design of the front and back lights. In conclusion, I think this is one of the better family sedans in the segment, with a definite sport trim. Although not as comfortable as the Camry or Accord, it compromises some comfort and "interior class" for sportiness. Its really fun to drive and an eye-pleaser, for many people turned heads when my test car passed by. I'm looking forward to try out the V6 version sometime during next week.

Ride, handling, steering, style, driver position (very adjustable)

Weakness:

None so far...will keep you posted after driving for longer (6+ months)

This car is AWESOME! With sport package it is a larger version of the Protege5. Yes, I've only had it under 1 month but so far it has surpassed expectations. It's extremely stylish with the spoiler, "ground effects" as they call them, and other sporty touches. It reminds me of and has some stylings like the Cougar or Mustang. I was going to buy the Protege5 originally but decided to test drive the MAZDA6 - I'm so glad I did. The MAZDA6's ride is soo much smoother and yet even with the 4 cylinder it was just some less zippy as the Pro5. It even has steering very similar to the Pro5, which is very responsive and speed adjusting. I actually like the steering better on the MAZDA6 because it wasn't quite as sensitive - little more smooth than Pro5.

Strength:

Good value for the money, great handling, 2.3 L gives excellent performance above 3000 rpm, engine is extremely smooth. Great looking car, fantastic brakes, supportive seats, good 5-speed manual, good trunk and back seat space

Weakness:

Low end torque is a bit lacking, and the engine tends to be noisy at low rpm acceleration, but reasonably quiet at cruising speeds. I have a door rattle, but haven't tried to get it fixed yet. Other than that, none!

Had a fairly limited selection of cars in my area, and eventually chose a 4-cyl with a 5-speed manual over the V6. (I prefer the Mazda designed four over the Ford V6, the better fuel economy, and the lower cost). Glad I didn't get the Sport package, as I really like the clean lines on the base model (especially in black!). The car is great fun to drive and I would buy again!

Leather seating(heated), great a/c, four wheel disc brakes, firm ride but comfortable. Nice style and interior had very adjustable driver seating and steering wheel.

Weakness:

nothing worth speaking about.

Really like the car. Power is really for the 16 valve 4 cyl. The automatic 4 speed is well suited for the engine. Acceleration is good and it handles great. Just put 2300 mile on a trip in the mountains and it handled well. The automatic can be shifted on command a nice addition.
