Mazda MAZDA6 (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Mazda MAZDA6 (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

There are a lot of midsize cars on the road today, but the MAZDA6 is different from all the others in two very significant ways. Most noticeably, it is the only midsize model line to offer three distinct body styles to fit your style and utility needs. More importantly, it is built with a strong emphasis on driving dynamics. As one look at any of the 60-plus international awards the Mazda6 Sports Sedan has received clearly shows, no other model line in the class delivers the ride and handling characteristics near and dear to a driving enthusiast's heart like a MAZDA6.

Strength:

comfortable seat, smooth shifter for a V6, power after 3500 rpm mark, 4 doors, roomy inside. no wheel wells intruding on the trunk space. many standard features. price when compared to accord, altima, sebring, and camry.

Weakness:

slow off the start, drifts to the right on most of the roads near me (my old trucks didn't have this feature). spoil came with condensation on the brake light lens (hopefully soon to be replaced). slows when air conditioner is on (probably same for all cars)

6s model: V6 standard transmission. Put 7700 miles on it so far. Liked it better than Altima 3.5 and Sebring (all V6s) after test drives. [if buying in albany area i wouldn't recomend going to orange motors. didn't respond in a timely fashion to concerns i had about my newly purchased car]. didn't get any options - there are plenty of standard features.

The Bose stereo system, sun room, leather, 5 speed manual capability. steering wheel controls for the radio.

Weakness:

I can't seem to quit washing it. It's black so it looks great when shiney.

I am a 42 year old mom that has driven a mini van for 6 years. My boys finally have their own cars and now I have mine! I actually feel like a woman with a life when I drive this car. My sons want to borrow it--Sorry guys, no way.

Handling, acceleration, great looks on the both the outside and inside.

Weakness:

Turning radius is small, but never noticed because of the strengths.

Unbelievable car. Stop hesitating now and go buy this thing. I've had the car for two months now and I still get excited every time I have to drive somewhere because I know it's going to be so much fun. If you have a sports car style of driving then you will love the great handing and pickup.

Strength:

Love the lines and style the first time I saw the car. You have to get it with the Sports Package - that's what defines the car IMHO. The Appearance Package is nice too and adds a slightly different sports look to it. I eventually decided on the Sports Package as the overall look is cleaner without the "add-on" feeling. If you're in the Bay Area, I would heartily recommend Oak Tree Mazda, and look for Keith Bettencourt, a very pleasant sales person! Thanks Keith! Thanks Bob for the deal and dinner too! The V6 engine is great to drive, smooth and confident - a great leap from my previous 1.8l Integra GS. For this price, the features and performance can't be beat. The 17" wheels accentuates the sporty look. The doors close with a very 'high quality' sounding thud too!

Weakness:

The standard sound system is acceptable, but could be better. Would have liked an option to have a navigation systems bundle. Now I find it hard to have it as an add-on. Where do you put the screen?! The auto-climate control seems too powerful, always blows too much air. I prefer to manually set the temp and fan speed myself.

After more than a month of drooling, I finally traded in my 2000 Integra for a "Speed Yellow" Mazda 6s with Sport Package, Leather Seats, Moonroof and Comfort package (No Bose Stereo, but I didn't need it). Yellow was the color I secretly wanted, but was trying to convince myself to get the red or blue one, but was so glad to get the yellow finally. Now some eyes will turn my way! :-) I think I got a good deal on this. Price of the car was $25260. The KBB trade in price of my Integra was $12K, but after some bargaining, I was able to get the dealer to give me $15K for it! I suppose it was a compromise for both, as I got more than I expected for my trade-in, and the dealer did not have to lower the MSRP at all, although I suspected he balanced it both ways. Super Deal!

Strength:

Ummm...First I would have to say the style this is one car that actually looks like a "SPORTS" sedan not like the Toyota Camry and even the Honda Accord. Second would have to be the Comfort of this car it's VERY sporty & classy, but not as "grown up" as the Camry & Accord. I'm only 21 so I kind of like the whole street racing look, but it's not cheap looking like the interior of the new Altima. The speed and handling of this car is great, it's extremly smooth.

Weakness:

I would like it if the mpg were alittle better (who doesnt) and if they tossed some more horsepower on this car I would be racking up some speeding tickets for sure.

I love this car. Hands down this is the best looking sedan on the market. Mazda did a great job making this car look and feel like a real sports car. I looked at Honda Accords, and the Camrys, but at the end of the day my thoughts found its way back to Mazda.( And I'm so glad it did)

Good price for such a nicely equipt car. Leather, moonroof, cruise control, 7 speaker Bose audio w/ Subwoofer, 220hp V6, steering wheel mounted audio controls.

Weakness:

More wind noise than my last Accord. Less hp than the V6 Accord or Altima. Center console takes some getting used to. Shifter a little notchy.

I bought a nicely equipt 6s with sports package with 5 speed manual trans. What a fun car to drive. Car looks great with sports package & 17 inch alloys. Responsive handling. 220hp a step up for me. This is my 1st 6 cylinder auto and the extra power feels good. It didn't take long for me to get a feel for the car. The engine has a nice little growl when reved. Short-throw shifter. Brakes are awsome. Lots of trunk space. This car definately has an attitude.

Strength:

220 horses is never a bad thing! Great steady power band. Exhaust note. Duel chrome tips had me drooling ( almost ). The overall appearance makes people come up to you to ask all about it. It handles very well, corners pretty flat. It's a very comfortable car for all occupants. The trunk swallows everything that I have put in it, easily. The interior is almost Audi like in quality & finish for thousands less & I find it more interesting to look at. Love the red dials & the fact that all necessary switch gear is illuminated at night, including the radio controls on the steering wheel.

Weakness:

What were they thinking with the power outlet locations! None of them are are useable with a hands free phone kit with built in speakers. The front console location is too low to use. The gear stick hits your phone kit before you can put the car in park. You can put your phone in the top part of the arm rest & feed a plug to the second outlet in the bottom of the armrest, but again, it's not workable because the phone is now muffled by the armrest & you still have to open the armrest up to access your phone, & physically pick it up & put it to your ear to talk. My phone now lives in the the front duel cup holders attached to my ear with a wire. They should have self locking doors on the car that activate after a few feet of driving. Also, they don't unlock automatically when you want to exit the car. You still have to manually unlock the door before pulling the handle. The painted surfaces will wear quickly I think. The drivers seat raises up to a nice height, but the armrest is fixed, & pretty short in length, so it is rendered almost useless. The armrest should be adjustable. There is a bit too much engine noise from the Ford duratech. :( The turning circle

I was totally taken by the initial photos of this car that I saw in Car & Driver magazine. Really nice lines. It looks great just sitting at the curb. I bought mine in beautiful Blue. Gorgeous colour, which shows off the car brilliantly. It looks very sporty, without being too " Boy Racer ". Significantly better looking than either the Accord or Camry. It's pretty much fully equipped with leather, moonroof, sport package & comfort package. I'm not in my 20's anymore, so the bose stereo wasn't that big a loss. I'm very happy with the car overall. The power doesn't come on too early, which makes driving in real world conditions in L.A more pleasurable. The car does move though if you so choose. Easily beats mustangs & the BMW 330i. Don't tell my wife! The interior is very well put together for a car in this price range. Good quality leather, switchgear etc. The only concern is the painted " Titanium" console. That will be the first place to show real wear & tear. The turning circle is pretty big, which is a drag, & takes some real getting used to. Fuel economy is a little thirsty. I drive with the sequential shifter all the time because the auto will change gears too early for fun driving. Overall, I love this car. It looks awesome, drives great, has a rewarding sound when you want to go fast, very comfortable for four adults, & a big trunk. ZOOM ZOOM !!
