Mazda MAZDA6 (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Mazda MAZDA6 (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

There are a lot of midsize cars on the road today, but the MAZDA6 is different from all the others in two very significant ways. Most noticeably, it is the only midsize model line to offer three distinct body styles to fit your style and utility needs. More importantly, it is built with a strong emphasis on driving dynamics. As one look at any of the 60-plus international awards the Mazda6 Sports Sedan has received clearly shows, no other model line in the class delivers the ride and handling characteristics near and dear to a driving enthusiast's heart like a MAZDA6.

Strength:

The car has very good handling, it is also very quiet on the highway.

Weakness:

The gas mileage is a real dissapointment. I am getting 27.5 on the highway which is just terrible for this size of car with a 4 banger. Any suggestions on how to improve it to at least what it is rated at would be appreciated. I have always have gotten better gas mileage than the sticker shows because of my driving habits, but with this car I am shocked. The front seat though very firm for the back doesn't have enough seat for support on my thighs. After a long trip my leg has fallen asleep. If I can't get the gas mileage to improve I will sell it and by an accord.

I purchased this car after comparing it to the Honda Accord. I have owned them for the past 20 years. It seemed to me the Mazda was a much more sporter when I drove it. I like that standard features that comes with the car except for anti-lock brakes.

Strength:

Handling, gas mileage, appearance, comfort, climate control is fantastic! Car is wonderful on the highway as well!

Weakness:

Only weakness is the overall performance by the car dealership. Poor salesman and overall disappointing effort by service department. I'll take my car to another Mazda dealership for any needed service. I had to fight with them to install the appearance package professionally. Took it back because body add-ons had gaps and rivets were showing on side sills, plus some adhesive marring the paint that wasn't buffed out. No other issues at all and even the body kit has held up without any problems.

Test drove many different cars (Maxima, Murano, Accord, and Avalon). All of the other cars mentioned didn't do it for me within the price range I wanted. The 6 has been quite fun to drive and with the V6 it still gives great fun on twists and turns. My second choice would have been the Accord but after driving the 6 I fell in love! The interior space is very similar to the Accord and the handling is much sportier. Not quite as much pep as the Accord V6 but I'm not looking to race other drivers. I've been averaging 21-23 miles per gallon which is pretty good considering the performance. Stereo system has a good amount of bass and full sounding. Car is much sportier looking with appearance package (body kit from Mazda) than all the others in it's price range. Plus when I purchased it Mazda was offering 0% financing so the deal couldn't be beat (Honda only offering 2.9% financing with the Accord). Longer bumper to bumper warranty than the other manufacturers as well. Overall a very nice car for the price and you get great performance without giving up the family.

A poor man's BMW. This car is quick, nimble, roomy, and just plain fun to drive. I love the leather seats, Bose sound system, cup holders, performance and styling.

Strength:

Great looks, impressive gas mileage for the size, comfortable interior, minimal servicing needs. All the things a woman loves and appreciates in a vehicle. And since it's black......it matches all my clothes ......lol

Weakness:

Though my car is equipped with the traction control feature, it is a little wishy washy on damp roads and downright scary on highways with snow or ice. I'm told that has to do with the low profile tires and that this is a common hazard for those type of tires. The air conditioning system works great, though I find the heating system to be lacking, after driving 25 miles to work, my feet are still cold. The heated seat helps Tremdously with this situation. My heated passenger mirror cracked when the car was 4 days old but the cold in Ohio was unbearable at the time. The dealer replaced the mirror with no problem after I was told it had to be redesigned, so I think there was a first model year flaw in the mirror. The check engine light displayed a few times during the first couple of months I had the car. The dealer addressed the situation and there were no issues with the car......just new model bugs to work out. Other than those few minor issues, the car has been outstanding.

WOW!!! This car looks great and performs even better. I was prepared to buy a Jeep Liberty, though everyone kept telling me that I would be disappointed in the ride after driving 2 Honda Accords for many prior years. I initially went to look at the Mazda Tribute but was instantly BLOWN AWAY when I saw the Mazda 6 on the showroom floor. This led me to a test drive and an instant purchase of the vehicle. I got mine fully loaded with leather seats and the Bose sound system. After years of being told how impractical the color black is, I took the plunge and got the car in black like I've always secretly wanted. The leather is also black and my car spends alot of time garaged when not in use, so I didn't feel the oven effect from the summer heat on more than a couple of occasions. I have received nothing but compliments on the looks of this car and after driving it for 11 months and 17,000 miles, it still feels brand new and I now love commuting. After driving Honda Accords since 1990, I was a bit apprehensive about changing to Mazda, but I though I feel the Accord is still an excellent product, I feel it is ambitiously priced to the demand of the vehicle. At the time of purchase, I felt this car was a good compromise and more fitting to my new car budget. I have NOT been disappointed in the least and have enjoyed driving this car much more than I ever did my Accords. As a woman, I was looking for a car I could have simple maintenance performed on and not give the mechanics another thought. The Mazda 6 has fully lived up to that expectation.

Strength:

Nice looks, good handling, roomy on the inside and not to big on the outside, smooth acceleration

Weakness:

Very poor gas mileage

Fun car to drive, handles like a back wheel drive and has enough power to challenge most over priced German competition!! I really like the unique styling (not over done like the Nissan's) both interior and exterior. The v6 engine sounds like a v8!!! Great!

Great steering feel; corners well; good power and acceleration; a driver's car.

Weakness:

None so far.

This car is a hoot to drive. I bought a 6i (4 cylinder) with ABS and traction control, side and curtain air bags, sport automatic transmission, and power driver's seat. The price is right. The car is well equipped. It beats all other cars in this price range in handling.

Handling, very plush comfortable interior, very smooth ride, Great looks(one of the best looking out there in my opinion). I now know what zoom zoom means.

Weakness:

Low end torque is a little weak, but catches up quickly. Other then that nothing.

Good Lord I love driving this car. It is quick and agile. It is a blast on a curvy road. We looked at alot of cars including the Maximma, Ultima, and Murano. This car compares to them all(although obviously the Murano and Maximma are nicer at a mich higher price) We got one fully loaded and love it.

Looks good

Weakness:

I hope they didn't drop this one off the boat in Vancouver harbour. Left front bearing went with less than 150km. But than again it was brobably bad from the beginning. Driver side lock had to be replaced already as well. Interior is much smaller than l expected.

My wife leased this car through her company, and already we are having problems with it. The first day she drove it for work, she said that it sounds like it has big snowtires on it. went around the block and sure enough a front bearing went bad. They fixed that, than on thanksgiving weekend, the key got stuck in the driver side door. It would not turn or come out, so my darling wife was stuck driving my old reliable taurus wagon to go and visit clients . LOL It doesn't have nearly as much interior room as l expected it would.

I would say gas mileage.

This is a great car! I had my heart set on a Nissan Altima. Test drove one and liked it. Then headed to the Mazda dealer on a whim and just for kicks test drove the Madza 6, and instantaneously, my mind was made up, I had to have this car! Great looks, great quality, smooth ride, all in all a great car.

Where? What weakness? uhhh...I'll pick it apart and say I don't care for the trunk release for the fold down 60/40 rear seat, I wish it was in the cabin. Whoopdy freekin do.

Love this car! Nothing like it on the road today. Safety of a Taurus, features of a BMW and performance to boot.
